This place doesn't qualify to be called as a Resort. 1st of all their website doesn't mention the extra charge that they levy for transport and mandatory sightseeing. This, you'll come to know once you've booked rooms with them and they'll send you an sms informing about the additional cost. Since we arrived during an off season we were charged Rs. 3000 for the following 3 things: 1. The pickup from Satpada to the island. - Rs. 1000 2. The drop from the island to Satpada. - Rs 1000 3. And Rs. 1000 for sight seeing, dolphin watching and Rajhans, which you cannot opt out off. The worst part of the sight seeing is that they take you to the resort from Satpada via the dolphin sighting route and charge you for it. The second thing about the sight seeing is that Rajhans is just accross the lake where you can see it and it take max 10 mins in boat. So we were charged Rs 1000 for these. The peak season price is supposed to be Rs. 2500 for each of the items mentioned above. So, plan your trip accordingly. We booked 2 standard AC rooms for 1 night but we checked out the same day itself. When we checked in (around 12pm) we were told that they've upgraded us to delux AC rooms. The rooms were tiny and in bad shape and it's really depressing once you enter them. So I was wondering in what state the standard rooms would be in. The toilet in one of the rooms wasn't working and there was a hornets nest in the washroom of the 2nd room. Toilets weren't clean either. When we called them to confirm if there's a swimming pool in the resort they confirmed that they have one. They never mentioned that it's not in usable condition. When we entered after checkin I asked them about the pool and they pointed to something which looked like a natural pond (not made with the regular blue tiles) which hadn't been used since ages. Our plan revolved entirely around the swimming pool as there utterly nothing else to do in that place. This place is only suitable for people who are planning to just sleep for the night and not spend quality time at the resort. The only reason for me to give them even a single star is because it's mandatory, the staff seemed hospitable and the food was good (not great).

Roopark Village several award winning destination, situated at Kantabonia near Panchalingeswar, Balasore, Orissa. Started in the year 2000, organizing holiday tours, educational programs and stress relief package tours for students and working classes. A place where people can touch and smell earth, feel the nature, breath in fresh, taste the delicacy and hear nature's concert.
We visited there with a group of 30 people. Everything was arranged by the owner Ms. Rupa Banerjee. We stated our requirements over phone. The stay was excellent. Their arrangement and hospitality were beyond the expectation. We went by road and their pick up cars were waiting for us on the specific location. All of the 5 AC Boleros were in good condition. 2nd day we visited to Sonei dam, Kalo dam and Rishiya dam...all the places are nice and lunch arranged by the Roopark Village was also very delicious. All the mud cottages were filled with a nice and soothing fragrance...overall the stay was very homely. One thing is to some extent was disappointing...the absence of geyser, which is very much required for elderly people. They gave bucket of hot water, which is sufficient for bathing. But in winter time hot water may be needed all through the day..which is not possible without geyser. Hope to visit the Roopark Village again in future....

Eco Godwit Cottage – Odisha – A trip to Mangalajodi is not complete without the mention of Eco Godwit Cottage named after the Black Tailed Godwit, very appropriately described as this bird spends most of the winter season in areas of Indian subcontinent and they come from Siberia. The Eco Godwit Lodge is the only lodge closest to Mangalajodi which is a haven for migratory birds. It is very very basic with just a few rooms that are sparsely furnished with a bed, a fan and an attached bath and very gloomily lit and giving the appearance of being unkempt. If one is looking for a place to stay this is surely a very basic more like a camping site. However we were using it for our lunch commuting to and from Mangalajodi. The meals were fresh good fish prawns, dal rice and a hot cup of coffee ready to go for our next safari. Wish the owners upgraded the place, it would get a lot of bird lovers thronging the place. The dining area had cane chairs with rustic infrastructure.

Resort location is awesome facing the cloud covered hills. Very good place to stay with family and friends. Good hospitality and tasty food. The best part is relaxing and playing in the swimming pool. Overall A very decent resort for relaxation.

Despite giving a three star rating, I will really recommend visiting and staying in this place. The reason is its beautiful location and the upkeep of the resort itself. Even in a comparatively unexplored state like Odisha, you will rarely find such a virgin and serene place. Just step outside the resort; you can see Chilika lake in all its might. All you can see is water, water and water. And there is a boat ready with the resort to take you to inside the lake, just in case if you need some company - of the friendly Irawady dolphins. Yes, the place is very close to the point in where they live inside Chilika. The second reason why I still recommend it is that the people at the resort are friendly. Where they have miles to go is that they are not very professionally run. The place, though slightly isolated, is not more than 3-4 km from National Highway and there are a few villages on the way. Yet, they do not have too much of stocks. We got a plate of Pakodas in two hours because they had run out of cooking gas! My suggestion: carry enough food stock with you and negotiate on room tariff to not more than INR 2000. The roads are good, the place is superb and the people serving you are really nice. Just needs a little more professional management. I would have given it a 4-star rating but just for my own experience. My 11 year old went hungry as there was absolutely nothing available.
