The best available Cottages to stay near Lazio

April 26, 2023 Rosalyn Ihle

Lying at Italy’s geographic and historic heart, Lazio (or Latium) was the seat of the Roman Empire, and as such is teeming with ancient attractions, especially in the Eternal City of Rome itself. To the east, Tivoli has Emperor Hadrian’s exquisite and massive Villa Adriana. Civitavecchia, today a major cruise and ferry port, has been Rome’s main harbor since the second century. Many pre-Roman sites dot Lazio too, like the Etruscan necropolis at Cerveteri, dating from the 9th century BC.

A quick drive from the port to this peaceful place. A new house, sparkling clean, friendly owner. We just left luggage and bikes outside since the place is gated. Comfortable beds, nice bathrooms. Highly recommend.

Nice place to rest when traveling to Northern Italy

Even with a GPS this place was difficult to find. Seeing it on Google maps was somewhat helpful. The onsite restaurant was not open, but there was one a few minutes by car. We stayed in the apartment "Templar", big rooms, clean, big bathroom. Good resting place after overnight flight from Canada before heading to Liguria. Breakfast was so so. Beautiful grounds, lots of history. No A/C but was not required as evening was cool. I would recommend this place for the night.

The perfect B&B!!!

Reviewed By kevinduraiswamy

The hosts, Roberta and Gaetano, are an incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful couple. I was stuck one Saturday in Bagnoregio without a place to stay because I had missed the last bus that would take me back home. When I rang the bell to their place at 9 pm, they warmly took me and set me up in an available bedroom. I found out the next day that since they had had no reservations for that night and it was already late, they had closed for the night but when I rang so late, they knew I must have really needed room and decided to host me! The place was wonderful--spacious, clean, newly renovated with three large bedrooms for guests each with its own bathroom. The bedroom that I was in was perfect and had all the amenities I could want--towels, extra bedsheets, soap and shampoo, fruits, snacks, water, fast WiFi, etc. In the morning, they provided an abundant breakfast with a large variety of pastries that Roberta had made at home. It was wonderful! However, the best part of the B&B was Roberta and Gaetano. They were incredibly nice and friendly and made me feel at home right away. They made sure I had everything I needed. When I needed my own space, they didn't disturb me at all, but when I was in the kitchen or family room with them, they were very open and talkative. All in all, it was a fantastic stay, and I can't imagine a better place to spend a few nights!! Thank you again Roberta and Gaetano!
