Monoceros Resort is a small resort in the north of Thailand. It lies in a green garden with lots of trees in a beautiful and romantic natural surroundings. If you want to escape from the busy city, this is your place to stay. The resort has 10 cottages, a large salt water swimming pool, restaurant and a massage pavilion. The resort is a half hour drive (24 km) from Chiang Mai Airport.
Searching for a place to stay in the Mae Rim area we found the Unicorn; well, the Monoceros Resort. From the moment we arrived to the time we left (3 nights later) we enjoyed every minute thanks to Paul and his team. This is definitely the place we come back when in the area. And, quite unusual at least for me, we had breakfast and dinner for three consecutive days at the same place: The Monoceros restaurant!

Beautiful place to eat and sleep. Lovely people and good vibe. Food was good. They have a big menu, so you can choose a lot of food. The cocktails and fruitshakes are also good, you should try this place.

This accommodation was really sweet - it has lots of space as there is a garden and we got our own little veranda with a seat and table! We had views of the mountains which was good and the room was all round standard - clean, comfy, tv, ac! We really liked our stay here! It is a little far from the town but we had scooters so we didn't mind and we only stayed for one night. The Mae Chaem Gate restaurant was close which was very good.

Overall Impressions Superb local experience. Warm welcome throughout our stay by a very nice host; P Mui. Huts: Eco-friendly made yet very comfy with enough pillows and mattress, freshly washed and dried. Balcony with great view of Doi Luang Chiang Dao. We visited in mid November. Weather is beautiful and fresh. No bugs/mosquitoes. No mosquito net needed. Host: P Mui is super nice and kind. She makes the place special. She suggests places to visit, cooks us meals, makes our beds, feeds the dogs, feeds the cats, feeds the chickens. She basically does everything. She took us to Phor Doi Koi Dao cafe which is a cute little coffee place close by with splendid view of rice fields and offers great freshly brewed coffee and delicious cakes. Facilities: Huts are comfy and homely. It's almost like you're visiting a relative's house. Toilets and shower are separated from huts. Anyhow the big family compound are equipped with one though. Fan is provided. Would definitely come back to stay. Highly recommended for those seeking local experience and peaceful stay. Kindly note though that this place doesnt suit those who dislike dogs or cats or chicken since you're going to definitely be surrounded by them. Theyre not aggressive though. All very gentle and are good boys lol. The host speaks good English and would go pick you up if you give her a call lol. How nice of her.

The Chai Lai Orchid is a nature retreat surrounded by lush tropical forest. The eco lodge is a social business working to empower Karen and Kayan women. Here you can spend your days swimming with elephants in the river or walking with them in the jungle. The Chai Lai Orchid is currently working to rescue more elephants from abusive conditions, so every visit counts.
I booked to stay at Chai Lai Orchid as a surprise for my friends birthday. We stayed at the riverside bungalows and I couldn’t recommend this place more, everything was perfect. The staff, the atmosphere, the food etc. I researched long and hard to find an ethical elephant sanctuary as I wanted to make sure they were treated well. It was obvious from the get go that they are very loved and well taken care of. Our tour guide was called Sayan. He was so friendly and informative, he made our day very special. Easily one of the best days of my life, thank you so much for having us! Hope to see you again in the future.

This is a Karen style house surrounded by serene rice paddies and nestled in a traditional Karen tribal village. There are several parks nearby and waterfalls are explored. Day trips to elephant camps for rescued elephants can easily be organized for guests.
I spent 2 nights at Nongtao. The were very friendly and helpful. The area is incredibly peaceful and you are a 5 minute walk from Thailands most beautiful elephant sanctuary. Also the beds are unbelievable. If you are in the Chaing Mai region Nongtao is a must!

Do was so welcoming and very helpful with all queries my partner and I had. She was genuinely caring and really wanted us to enjoy our stay at her home and in Chiang Mai. I highly recommend anyone to stay here when they’re in Chiang Mai.

I m traveling alone in north thailand for a month and this is my last stop before I fly out. I am so regret why I didn’t discover this place earlier. Baan Tung Boon Lom locates in the midst of the rice fields, you can hear all the sound of the nature (exactly those ‘nature’ background music you would download online). When I arrived, I canceled all my plans but just to chillax on the hammock and painted by the green fields. If you are in a hurry, don’t come. If you are looking for a luxury hotel, don’t come. But if you are searching for a place to just daydream and be close to nature, this is the right place. I was a bit scared of bugs before I came, but once I saw the wonderful natural scenery, I just felt all the insects and animals are just part of the beautiful nature and I learnt to love them! I didn’t mind when the ants crawl on my table. I actually enjoyed observing how the whole can’t crew created the line to transport their food. The owners Tuppenny and Robert put so much effort in this lovely home stay, they are one of the most kind-hearted and humble people I have ever encountered. I really enjoyed the freshly baked cookies that came with my coffee and the delicious breakfast Tuppenny made for me! Thank you Tup and Robert for giving me such unforgettable memories, I enjoyed every moment with you both! will definitely come back

This is a very small hotel. Stayed in the double room upstairs. Spacious room, with comfortable bed. Linen excellent. Breakfast was fine but limited - very Thai, tasty. Internet was good. Good shower. In this room you look directly into neighbouring homes, so for any privacy one must close the curtains. This makes the room quite dark. Communication was a little challenging due to language differences, staff not always being accessible and poor responses from messaging.

Lanna House Lanna Hut Chiangmai : Bed and breakfast in Sankambheng, Chiang Mai, Thailand. A small guesthouse in a small garden with swimming pool, all bamboo huts include a private bathroom with water heater and air-conditioning. Free shuttle sevice. Free Wi-fi. Free bike/motorbike
We stayed 3 days in the pool side hut with perfect view to the landscape. It was magical. We absolutly loved this place. The hut was clean and nice, of course you can hear a lot of natural noice from outside but if you like nature and rest, it's THE place to be. The owners are so kind, even if they don't speak perfectly English, they will help you for everything. They are beautiful and wonderful people. The breakfast is homemade, making by mama. We keep so good memories of our staying in Lanna House Lanna Hut. I recommand anyone who wants to stay away the city center of Chiang Mai (30 minuts driving).
