After sleepy Yeosu was chosen to host the 2012 World Expo, it was catapulted into the tourism spotlight. Now that the South Korean city’s volcanic beaches, idyllic islands and colorful historic sites have been discovered, it’s likely that it will grow into a popular international vacation spot. Take a bus to the Hyangiram temple, walk along the breakwater to Odongdo Island, or work your way through the fascinating Fish Market.

여행지를 선택하는 새로운 기준 여수 라테라스 입니다.
We were so excited to visit La Terrace, but were quickly disappointed. The main problem is that nothing is included in your stay. The pools are nice, but not nice enough to pay 30,000 won ($30) per person daily. Once you pay to use the pools, you also have to pay to use pool chairs or cabanas. The pool chairs were $30 for 2, but they are only available near the kid and family pools. If you want to enjoy the peaceful no kids pool, you have to pay $100 for a cabana. If your goal is to lay in the sun, it’s not really possible because the cabanas are pretty shady. The resort also has a barbecue area, but you have to pay 50,000 won ($50) to use the grill. The other option is to pay 100,000 won ($100) for grill use and food provided which seemed like the better choice. The room was not nice enough to justify the daily rate for this resort. It was relatively small and not well kept. There were stains on the curtains and rust in the bathroom, and it generally did not have a clean feeling to it. Additionally, our room was located near a kids pool and loud music started at 8am which made it hard to sleep in. The best part of the resort was the view, especially during sunset. If you’re considering staying here, reconsider and keep looking. There’s far better out there.

We spent 2 nights there as a base to visit around Jogyesan park, Daehan Dawon tea plantation near Boseong and the bay of Suncheon-man. The hotel is very well built. We had 2 "studios with terrace" for a very interesting price. The rooms are modern and spacious, well equiped, very comfortable and clean. The view on the fishing harbour is pleasant. The place is quiet. Within a few minutes walk we could find restaurants and shops. The staff was also SO helpful to organize for us, late in the evening, a taxi tour for the next day. The owner speaks very well English and assisted us to find a very friendly taxi driver. Then she drove us with her private car to a nearby sushi restaurant. Thanks to her ! The only point is that they serve no breakfast. Again we could find a place after 5 minutes walk. This place is also made for wine lovers! They have an extensive worldwide wine menu and impressive cellar. We definitively recommend this place !

This place is a sham. We booked using another website, using the hotel's posted pictures as our guide, and when we arrived, we were shocked that the hotel was NOT as described at all. The pictures you'll find on other websites show a hotel standing by the seashore, beautiful lights surrounding it, romantic views to the outside on a balcony with colorful furniture. The view is a seaside view with a small field of solar panels (more on this later), and is described as being very, very close to the romantic carriage street in Yeo-Su. THESE. ARE. ALL. LIES. The hotel is surrounded by other hotels nearby, one of which is abandoned, and is an eyesore. It's just big, and abandoned, and quite frankly, a little scary looking because it's a big, dark, empty building. Pulling into the tiny, tiny parking lot (you'll have to double park, and if you come in late, you're SOL), you can't help but notice that about 100 meters away is the entrance to a mountain tunnel. A MOUNTAIN TUNNEL. In Korea, these tunnels can be high speed and very, very dangerous. Pulling in to the parking lot is sudden, but coming out is even more dangerous because the buses in South Korea don't follow the rules of any road. The room pictures don't accurately show that the actual view from the hotel is NOT a romantic sea, but actually A GIGANTIC FIELD OF SOLAR PANEL, A TRAINYARD/STATION HUB, AND A GIANT CONSTRUCTION SITE. None of this is shown in the pictures you'll see on other hotel websites. You MAY see a little bit of a field of panels, or you may see a few train tracks, but honestly, it's a LOT bigger than you'd expect. The sea is quite, QUITE far away, and this is the farthest thing from a "romantically beautiful" spot that the pictures try to show. What happened is that the owners paid professional photographers and graphic designers to doctor up the photos just a little bit to take away attention from the train tracks, the giant construction yard, and the endless field of solar panels, so that you can be easily convinced that the seaside view is worth it. There is also no elevator, so if you have luggage, get to haulin' because it's a lot of stairs and...yeah...good luck. The people who run this sham of a hotel are also dishonest, rude, and disrespectful to anyone who may have anything negative to say about their hotel. One guest left a 2/10 review, saying that the railroad is noisy at night (have you ever heard a quiet railroad?), and the owner responded that perhaps that guest should stay at a more expensive hotel next time. Who says that to a guest? Honestly? Read the reviews on the other websites very, very carefully, and make sure you are aware that the pictures are misleading. The field of solar panels is bigger than you realize, the train tracks are VERY close, the construction yard is a terrible eyesore, the tunnel next to the hotel is high speed and very dangerous, and the owners are rude liars who would rather talk smack about you from behind the safety of a computer than to your face directly. STAY AWAY
