Virginia can make American history come alive. Visit Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello, tour Civil War battlefields, explore the living history museum at Williamsburg… the possibilities are endless (if the kids object, break up the historical sightseeing with a visit to Busch Gardens). Arlington, site of Arlington National Cemetery, is just across the Potomac River from all the major sites in D.C. In addition to beaches and historical attractions, Virginia has plenty to offer outdoor enthusiasts. Active families will love the Blue Ridge Highlands, where hiking, canoeing and tubing are just a few of the activities offered. Couples might enjoy a romantic mountain cabin in Virginia after a day of hiking in Shenandoah National Park.

This was my third time staying here. They are remodeling the units and the updates are very nice. Staff was friendly and helpful. If you can do steps get an upstairs unit. We had two kids who ran around upstairs and made the chandelier shake

Exceptionally Clean, Warm, Inviting, Feels like your at Home. Love the exposed beams throughout from the original building from early 1900s. It’s a treat to read all the history of the building. Rooms are huge, fully stocked kitchens. The Innkeeper, Emily Bane is sweet, personable, and made us feel like Family. Also enjoyed being able to just step out on main Salem Street and walk to a restaurant, park, bar. There are many to choose from. My Husband and I have now stayed twice and am sure to return when in Salem/Roanoke.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I normally don’t leave reviews but as soon as we enter the building we were greeted by rude staff and a strange atmosphere. Once we finally received the key and open the door to the room, numerous amounts of roaches started to crawl in every direction. Staff did not seem too surprised

Three doors to enter your room. The banging of doors is unbearable. Phone in room did not work and was never repaired which made it difficult to call about no hot water in bathroom and tub that did not drain. Checked out a day early.

Patriots Inn accommodations feature spacious one and two-bedroom floor plans for maximum comfort. Each unit features full-kitchens, two bathrooms and integrated living and dining areas for relaxation and enjoyment.
Came here for a local weekend getaway with my SA and pleasantly surprised. 2 room suite with 2 full bathrooms and the cutest full functioning kitchenette! No one needed to wait to use a bathroom while the other one was getting ready. The cute gas fireplace was the cherry on top! It was clean and comfortable. Everything we needed for a reset and start our next work week out. The only thing I can think they need is some upgraded larger televisions. It rained 2 days and it would have been nice to have a movie night inside without squinting. But that was nothing. A hidden gem that I am glad we found!

Generally better than satisfactory, well cleaned and stocked, and conveniently located close to Water Country, a few more minutes to Busch Gardens. It's a bit longer to downtown Williamsburg. One-bedroom unit was a little snug because the furniture is over-sized, but we adapted. Two-bedroom unit was much better proportioned. Outside pool spacious, with slides and a connected wading pool, but not for serious swimmers - no lap pool. Bathrooms very nice, kitchen pretty well furnished. Bed very comfortable. We are considering staying there in the future.

I’m here for a short stay while renovating my parents house. It’s rained pretty hard the other night and my ceiling started leaking. The manager immediately moved me to another suite no questions asked. They quickly had a contractor on the scene to evaluate damage and begin repairs. I liked the quick crisis response time because I was so upset. They reassured me and helped me move my stuff. They are definitely 5⭐️

Built in 1792, Thorn Hill is a U.S. and Virginia historic landmark. Just minutes from downtown Lexington, the property includes 17 magnificently landscaped acres and features picturesque views of the Alleghany and Blue Ridge Mountains. Guest accommodations include The Cottage, which is the original guest house that has been lavishly restored, and The Lodge, which houses two luxurious guest suites
We stayed two nights in The Cottage, in order to attend a family wedding. We were really just looking for a vacancy at a decent place for those dates, but ended up having a very special experience. It is an historic property on a beautiful piece of land, and no detail was spared. The farm breakfasts were wonderful. The hosts were attentive and personable. This would be a great destination for a weekend retreat.

Great Place to Vacation. This is my second year vacationing with my family here. Our unit was great, plus we loved the view. We've decided as a family to continue coming here. The staff was courteous and helpful.

Sanctuary Realty offers luxury oceanfront condos set in a beautiful natural beach community just south of the resort area of Virginia Beach. Two, Three, and Four Bedroom Condos with gorgeous views of both the Ocean and the Bay offer a setting unlike many others. Private Pools, Private Boardwalk, Fitness Rooms, and many other amenities suit vacationing families year-round.
We checked in after receiving an email confirming that our unit was cleaned and ready for us. Upon pushing the door open (the doorknob on the door was broken and just hanging there) we discovered dirty towels on the floors, dirty linens on the unmade beds, and food residue covering the kitchen and dining room table. After calling and waiting 45 minutes for a cleaning person and new towels and linens, we waited an extra 3 hours for our unit to be actually cleaned. We were told someone would be in to clean the sand covered floors as well and they never showed up. While the unit was being cleaned, we explored the rest of our unit. We immediately went to the balconies overlooking the ocean. We opened the first sliding glass door only for the screen door behind it to immediately fall off the track and startle the pigeon that was protecting her eggs and living on the balcony. The other balcony had a family of three pigeons living on it as well. In the back end of the unit we noticed a fan in the laundry room blowing on a water leak from the unit above. The door to the bedroom next to it did not fit in its frame and would not shut. As for the amenities we paid for, they were nonexistent. The pools, which we were told would be opened late April, were closed. The relator also told us that the hot tubs are open year round. We discovered that to not be true as well, as they were filled with stagnant green water. The grills provided in the pool areas (when not zip-tied shut, as some were) did not work either. We were told there was a "propane issue" only after asking if they could be turned on. We used a total of two elevators during our stay; only one of which was operational. As much as we did not want to believe the reviews we were reading prior to our trip, they are disappointingly accurate. This review gets two stars for the beach itself and the fact that it was shelter. Our advice to future guests is to lower your expectations. The management team, if there is one, cares more about making excuses and collecting their checks than correcting faults and keeping their word.
