The best available Condos to stay near Salou

May 16, 2023 Almeta Stockton

Salou, on the Costa Dorada, nestles between quaint Cambrils and calm La Pineda. Just seven miles south of elegant Tarragona, the compact resort town is a family favorite, due in no small part to the existence of Port Aventura and Aquopolis theme parks. Gentle beaches and a slew of exciting fiestas in August add to Salou's appeal for families.

Noise

Reviewed By martinlT3861OF

The apartment has everything you need and the location is great 15 min walk to the beach 15 min walk to port adventure but the block in which the apartment is located is extremely noisy. You can hear everything from all the apartments around you and then you have noise from other blocks 3 nights out of 5 so far up to 2-3 in the morning then you have the building site next door waking you up at 8 every morning. Salou itself has most things you need and is very nice in and around the beach area but if you come back towards this apartment the paths are very dangerous and there's a chance you will step into dog poo at some point not well looked after by the local authorities. Port adventure was great the day isn't long enough to pack in all the rides and shoes on offer.

Such a lovely place with welcoming staff

Reviewed By beak-last

I read the reviews when I booked this hotel and worried about the noise and lack of ability to speak Spanish and I was so happily surprised. Firstly the hotel is in a somewhat noisy road but find me somewhere in that area that isn’t, it didn’t stop us sleeping at all. It’s so close to everything that you’d need, 10 minutes to the beach, shops, bars and restaurants. It’s opposite a beautiful park. The staff could not do enough to make us feel welcomed. There was a slight language issue but everything was understandable. The room was beautifully clean, a little out dated but perfect for a holiday as you have everything you’d need including pots and pans and a washing machine. Now the hidden gem, there is a roof top pool and when we used it, we were the only ones in it every time. It was clean, no leaves or bugs and just very well maintained. It was so lovely to swim looking over Salou, you could even see The Ferrari ride and big rides at PortAventura one side and the sea the other. Please don’t miss these apartments because of a few bad reviews, I really couldn’t see the issues at all.

Appalling place!

Reviewed By stevemW1211YL

What a dreadful hotel! The apartments as a space was awesome but as accommodation it was dire. It stank of dirt and stale cigarette smoke, the beds were ripped, stained and falling apart, the settee was ripped, stained and smell. The oven had no shelves in it so was useless. There were no wine glasses. The bathrooms were dingy, dank and grubby. It was cheap to stay here, thanks to Tesco vouchers, but that's no excuse, this place is awful. I've read previous reviews from 2 years ago, which were critical of the same things I mention above. Apparently the hotel was in the middle of a furniture replacement and refurbishment programme in October 2019. Really???

Disappointed

Reviewed By PabloSP239

Despite the regular reviews on internet, we decided to give it a go. Once we arrived, we requested previously for pool view for the children and they gave us street view. We complained but they ignored it and did nothing about it. The rooms are very basic with tiny ensuite. Our shower was disgusting and I had to go to reception to ask them to clean it. On the second day, we discovered a lovely guest in our kitchen. It was a cockroach which I managed to get rid of. For third time I went to reception to complain about another issue. It's a very basic hotel, really noisy, you can hear everything in the corridors and outside. The air conditioning is a nightmare. No temperature control so when it's on it's just freezing and when it's off, the room is boiling. We only went to the beach once at the beginning and when we left the room, the floor still had sand so the cleaning is not very good. The good things about this hotel is the location, the food at the restaurant (except breakfast which is basic and not outstanding quality). The chef on the grill is friendly and the food over there is really nice and fresh. Always get a sunbed no matter the time of the day you go to the pool.

Great Family Holiday - Lovely Apartments!

Reviewed By jacqueline t

Firstly PLEASE do not pay attention to all the negative reviews re this place, I stayed here for a week in October as a result of Thomas Cook going bust and having to book alternative accommodation. Firstly at check in we dealt with a man who made the entire process easy. He was great and although it was our 4th visit to Salou he spent time ensuring we knew all about where we were and where to go etc. Our apartment itself was a 1 bed apartment and yes it was a little dated but it was very clean and the beds and sofa bed for my 2 daughters were comfortable. There was some noise outside at points but you are slap bang in the middle of town so this can not be attributed to the apartments it is the geographical location. The apartments were cleaned daily and towels replenished etc. The cleaners could not speak much English but with the help of google translate we managed to have thee nicest conversations. We ate Breakfast each day which was great, good selection and all staff in the restaurant were both welcoming and helpful. We only had dinner 2 nights as we have favourite places we like to visit when in Salou (you must check out Roadhouse it is amazing!) but dinner both times was great and catered for my husband who is vegetarian. The reception and communal areas in the apartments are all lovely and modern. We did use the pool over the road at the sister hotel the Californian gardens as it was bigger and in the sun most of the day. The location of the apartments is just fantastic. Overall a very enjoyable family holiday, so much so we have booked to return next October and honestly cannot wait. Recommended!

Chilled family break

Arrived 28th May. Reception were very helpful as mum booked with another company and she had to get her keys elsewhere. Taxi was rang for us and advice given by knowledgeable Irish lady. ( thanks) room was clean and decent sized balcony with furniture for 4 . Maids never bothered us at all but gave sheets or whatever we asked for without charge. We enjoy being left alone as relish late lie ins when on holiday and our privacy. Plenty of cheap supermarkets and bars and restaurants nearby and beaches only a short walk. We prefer the beautiful little cove just up the hill and to the left Cannot understand some reviews as our hob worked perfectly and shower was fine.

Ridiculous Check in/ Check out Times

Reviewed By Marie_Travels_100

We stayed here for 2 nights, the room was basic but nice and the location was where we like to go walking. We only live one hour away so often drive to Cap de Salou for the weekend. To cut a long story short the whole stay was ruined by the fact that we could not check in until 4pm which means that unless you book at least 2 nights there's no point going, we couldn't go out walking or do anything waiting for this super late check in. To make matters worse we were asked to check out at 10am. These times seem to be getting closer together, what happened to being able to enjoy hotels, it's literally just a bed and then you're kicked out. Will go somewhere with a more reasonable check in time next time.

Not suitable for family holiday

Reviewed By Evelyn S

There was 10 of us and a baby in two apartments the children were aged from 8 months to 15years and 5 adults. The apartments were spacious with a double bedroom en-suite and 2 single rooms and another bathroom with a shower spacious kitchen/lounge with dishwasher washing machine full fridge and three ring hob and microwave table with six chairs sofa bed and large balcony. We had requested a low floor with young children 6/7/8 and baby. We were put on the third floor and couldn’t let the baby onto it as there was over 6inch gap at the bottom, we were afraid to let the small kids on their own. The beds were terrible I slept in the single bed the first night and the noise every time I moved woke me up it was like I was sleeping on the floor the mattress was so bad my daughter who is 14 was in the sofa bed which was so broken it had a dip in the middle I ended up sleeping on it as it was better than the bed the slatts under were broken the bar was bent, it was cleaned on the day we arrived but it was not clean by any means we had no change of sheets or towels in the week we were there and we were told you clean yourself. The pool was literally 5ft by 10ft and so deep the kids couldn’t get in it was shaded by high trees too and was freezing although it was 22-24 degrees every day. There was 18 apartments most of them were owner occupied and was very noisy as had a train track right beside it and this ran from 6am to 11pm and sounded the horn about 4 times as it passed waking everyone up. I would say the apartments are good for a group of adults looking for a base rather than holiday let as it is in the old town a good 20min walk to the main tourist area and the locals are not very friendly it’s like they don’t want tourists in their area. Overall don’t book here with kids but ok on your own or with other adults
