MY wife and I have over 60 experience in the travel industry and have seen and spent time in some of the best hotels in the world. This is my no means a 5 star hotel but the way that Kostas and his team make you feel is fantastic. A 5 star service. The rooms are clean and have air con which is so important in the summer. If you can afford it then upgrade to the Spa suites. There are out of this world..Thank you Kostas for a wonderful holiday. We will be back..Soon we hope !

During the first summer of the pandemic when some countries were open to tourists we managed to book a week in Kalamaki with Jet2holidays. I had been to Kalamaki a couple of times previously so I was quite familiar with the area. Such was the welcome and hospitality of the sisters who run the hotel we decided to return at the end of August 2021, this time booking directly with the hotel as Jet2holidays were not offering Sofias during the 2021 summer season. This was not a slight on the hotel, it was owing to the complex and dynamic situation of filling hotels during the second summer season of the ongoing pandemic. Jet2holidays were consolidating guests in only a handful of the hotels across the island. As of writing this review you will find they once again will be selling Sofias for Summer 2022. To reiterate some points I made in my review from 2020; The hotel is a small complex run by Greek sisters Athena and Matina. Rooms are either ground floor or first floor with no lift. We had a first floor room this year and we really liked it, I think I preferred it over last year. We were in the block next to reception overlooking the garden down below and the opposite block. We had a side sea view and could also see some of the pool. These apartments are very basic Greek style apartments. You won't find anything pretentious or especially luxurious about them, but that is precisely why we liked them. A clean basic place to sleep and shower is all you need. There is a small kitchenette, which we never used, but nonetheless you have the facility to make a drink and prepare a small snack. The bathroom is typical Greek wet-room style, don't put anything in there you don't want to get wet! We always had hot water and the maid was in almost daily changing towels, replenishing toilet rolls and emptying the bin. We had three single beds in our room, they are a little firm, but I still managed to sleep. Mattresses are a very personal choice and you can't please everyone. I really liked the air conditioning, it is much needed in the high season. We were provided a controller and safety deposit box courtesy of the hotel on this visit which was a nice touch. I really like the pool/bar area of the hotel and we spent most days around there, eating breakfast and lunch and having a nightcap before turning in for the night. All of the food I have had at Sofias both this year and last has tasted fresh and been good quality. The burgers and sauce Matina made were amazing. It was also lovely to see Jo was still part of the team at Sofias. A great asset she was too, but after many years living in Zante she has since returned to the UK and will be a big miss when we eventually return to Sofias . For my mother especially, who was made to feel so welcome last year, Jo was a big reason for choosing to return to Sofias again. The sisters and Jo looked after my mother very well, this time my mother brought her sister (who has also reviewed Sofias below). Because my Mother and Aunt both suffer with Lipodema and have reduced mobility, they were well catered for with the same ground floor room with flat access that my mother had enjoyed last year and waited on hand and foot! That is the secret to this place, you don't so much feel like guests, you just feel part of it all. You'll see two sisters running a family business warts and all, no filters and it is refreshingly real and honest. There are many guests who are clearly long-standing guests (more like family) who return year in, year out. That said, there are those for whom this tactile, raw, honest, familiar hospitality is not suited to and, those who want suites with bathrobes and plunge pools. This is not the place. perhaps one of the other larger soulless generic hotels might be more their liking. If you want honest hospitality in simple surrounding with hardworking hosts looking after you just ten minutes from a stunning beach or a couple of minutes walk to shops, bars and restaurants, you couldn't go far wrong booking here.

What a truly amazing place , amazing hosts , spotlessly clean. Stayed 1st - 8th June, booked a cheap deal with travel agent , expected a studio , however on arrival was upgraded to 1 bed apt. Can’t speak highly enough of (Αγγελική ) Angela & Apostolis, lovely people & made our holiday, nothing was to much trouble, extremely helpful. There was a change from original description from travel agent , with regard to the pool access just across the lane , but no big deal @ €5 each for sun beds & sunshade for convenience ( there are others a 5 & 10 min walk that are free ) should you choose. Potentially a pool on site for 2023 season :-) House keeping was excellent, as I said spotlessly clean. Can’t recommend enough. Will be back for sure. Marcus & Andrea

Look no further if you're searching for a wonderful friendly, clean, relaxing, intimate hotel in Zakynthos. I can't rate this place highly enough. Nothing is too much trouble for the family who run it and their staff. The hotel and rooms are immaculately clean and comfortable and breakfast was varied and plentiful every day. The pool area is set in a garden surrounded by plants and trees and feels like an oasis of calm and the atmosphere throughout relaxed. The hotel is central and within walking distance of beaches and many restaurants. Saying that, the food in the hotel itself looked amazing if you just wanted to chill there for the day. This place felt like one big happy family and we'd definitely return to stay when we visit Zakynthos again. Special thanks go to Abi and Alex who took such great care of us going above and beyond expectations. 10/10 all round!

Loved the location, we arrived prepared to walk everywhere as it was end of season. Kalamaki beach and the airport is walkable in half an hour and Zakynthos not much longer. Nice and quiet apart from meowing cats which didn't bother us but was noticeable. The owner was very welcoming and seemed very approachable. It's a pretty basic room, but clean and I couldn't fault it for the price I paid. It has cooking facilities, but we didn't use anything as we really just wanted a bed for 3 nights, so this suited us just fine. To sum up, if like us, you really just want a bed for a few nights and like to do a bit of walking, then it's ideal. If I was planning to spend more time in the room and do some cooking, I'd look to spend more money for better facilities.

10 days in this family run hotel was brilliant. Although we the first days were the only guests, Spiros and his wife Gordana provided service second to none. And of course everything with respekt for Covid-19. The breakfast menu - included - offered All you could need and was a perfect start every day. The poolarea offers sunbeds, umbrellas and a lovely pool. And cold beers and tasty food from the poolbar. The room was clean, the bed way beyond What we have tried elsewhere. the Small veranda was perfect - the bathroom Small but clean This was our third stay at Vickys Garden and we would love to come back to our green Home away from Home. Why? You May ask. The answer is simple. Vickys garden is simle the best and great value for money. Nb: The hotel is within walking distance from both restaurants, supermarkeds and wonderfull beaches

Dolce Vita residence is 2km from the nearest beach. There is no free daily bus shuttle service from the hotel to the beach. I never saw any busses, it is only taxi's most of the time, some of them overcharging and driving like maniacs. Being situated next to a rural area means you cannot sleep there unless you have proper mosquito repellent otherwise you will be punctured by the mosquitos relentlessly. The fridge freezer is so old that the door would not close, I placed water in the freezer and after 3 days it was still not frozen. The furniture and especially the mirror in the bathroom is too old to be in use, it is stained with spots. There were no shower gel, shampoo or washing up liquid supplied, this is no more than a two star accommodation. It is situated 8 minutes drive from the airport, so you see and hear flights coming and going all day. The quad bike racing late at night add to the noise. The Reception is not fluent to converse in English. The locals have only one thing in mind and that it to grab every Euro out of your pocket, apart from that they do not care. They are definately playing the Covid19 and Brexit card on us, overcharging and serving with a bad attitude.

Nestled between the main road and the beach area. A short walk will lead you to Kalamaki sandy beach. On the main street you will encounter shops, restaurants, tavernas. Dina will go the extra mile to make your stay here a pleasant one. The studios include one double bed and one single bed, kitchenette, bathroom, safe, air-conditioning.
Stayed here for the second time. Dina is lovely and very helpful. The studios are basic but very Greek. They are very close to Costas pool bar, a lovely pool and food and a ten minute walk to the beach. The town centre is also a five minute walk. Dina lives in the apartments and looks out for her visitors. Be nice to her and she will be good to you. Such a shame for the tourist industry at the moment! They need support from us visitors! L
