Often overlooked in favor of Porto and Lisbon, Coimbra sits on the banks of the winding Mondego River. After a day spent among the city's medieval architecture and grand university buildings, it's easy to see why Coimbra was Portugal's capital for over a century.

No air-conditioning and no fans made for an uncomfortable stay. If you leave the windows open, the street noise from the busy street and the party-people keep you up. All rooms are 1 to 3 flights up with no elevator. We spent a mostly sleepless night here due to the heat and noise. I would never consider staying here again.

Lovely small hotel in Coimbra, near the university. We had problems originally finding it as it is up a non-descript laneway that runs next to the monastery. The hotel is close to the main town square and plenty of restaurants and shops. The owner, joele, and his staff are simply amazing…full of information and very helpful. The room itself was a bit small but totally workable. The bathroom was small and a little tight for big westerners. Room was very clean and the bed was a bit hard but ok.

This was the cheapest place I stayed in my recent trip to Portugal and I think the price and location make up for a lot of short comings with the room and the hotel. You are right in the heart of Coimbra, not far to walk to the train station or the old town. Very safe walking back to the hotel at night, however there is a curfew but I never stay out too late. There is no lift or elevator so make sure you can carry your bag. Wifi did not work for most of my stay so if you have to check in for flights or book train tickets be aware. Bathroom and room dated and small but I slept well despite the noise from being on the main square. Does not take credit cards. As a place to shower and sleep it is adequate.

He showed us the vest fado in town and was just the nicest hotel host ever! Don't hesitate, just pick this residencia if you are planning a trip to Coimbra! ?

Serviced short-stay apartments accommodation in Coimbra, beautifully incorporated in a magnificent building with a 1800's facade and impressive floor to ceiling heights.Central location in the UNESCO pending area of Coimbra. The building has had many roles and, after a cloth manufacturing structure, is now a stylish touristic apartment building.Great to enjoy the history of the city. All rooms feature a living area, fully equipped kitchen, LCD television, bedroom, bathroom and free wireless internet.
The place belongs to Oslo hotel so you need to check in with them, basically you have a card with the instructions on it, after it’s easy, they will invite to see the place from its terrace could not go cuz was tired, next time for sure :) Will do , the accommodation it’s exceptional every spot in the one bed flat is well done, hot water, well equipped kitchen, comfy and huge bed, amenities and lots of towels, the deco is also great vintage kinda thing, the location is another plus I definitely will stay with them once back in Coimbra, thanks for the kind service.

This is a good budget hotel in a great location. It is only about a four minute walk from the main downtown train station (not Coimbra-B). The rooms are sparse and a bit run down but the staff was very helpful and friendly.
