Situated at the feet of the western Pyrenees near the French border, Spain's Basque country comprises three provinces: Guipúzcoa and the popular beachfront capital of San Sebastian; Viscaya, where capital Bilbao houses the jaw-dropping Gehry-designed Guggenheim Museum; and Alava, whose capital Vitoria teems with medieval architecture. Running with the bulls at Pamplona and drinking rioja from area wineries add to the region's exotic romanticism. Travel in early summer and fall to dodge the madding crowds.

First impressions were that this hotel was clean, modern and comfortable and friendly staff all able to speak English very well. It’s location is very convenient, just minutes away from the Guggenheim and a many good restaurants, bars and convenience stores. The bus stops right outside the hotel and the hotel parking is only minutes away and can be booked for a reasonable price. Beds are very spacious and comfortable and when we had an issue with the shower drain being blocked it was fixed immediately. The thing that really compelled me to write a review is the way in which the hotel staff pulled out all the stops to help us when my father was taken unexpectedly ill one evening and had to be hospitalised for a few days. The lady at reception (apologies I didn’t get her name) was so helpful in calling us taxis to be able to get to and from the hospital, extending our stay at the hotel despite them being very busy and when my dad was discharged left a lovely hand written note wishing him well in his room. They really went above and beyond to reassure us that we didn’t need to worry about our accommodation for however long we would need to be staying and this was really a massive weight off our shoulders. This hotel may not be the Ritz but they certainly know how to serve their guests with so much care and professionalism. I would not hesitate to recommend the Cosmov for anyone visiting Bilbao.

This property is 6 minutes walk from the beach. Welcome Gros Hotel offers rooms and apartments in the Gros district of San Sebastián, just 5 minutes’ walk from Kursaal Convention Centre, San Sebstián’s old town and the beach. Free WiFi is available. The modern rooms include a TV and a private bathroom with free toiletries and a hairdryer. The apartments also have an equipped kitchenette and a living area. Reception is not available 24 hours. You will find many pintxos bars and traditional Basque restaurants in the surrounding area. San Sebastián’s train and bus stations can be reached in a 5-minute walk from Welcom Gros Hotel. You will also find public car parks near to the property and places to rent bikes.
We stayed in the apartments next door to the main hotel as a group of 10. We had 2 two bedroom apartments which slept 5 & 1 two bedroom apartment which slept 3. The apartments were spotlessly clean with everything you need for a weekend city break. The 2 bathrooms in the 5 berth apartments were excellent. The hotel is in a great location to explore the city, just a 10 minute walk from the Old town & a 5 minute walk from the beach. The Gros area of the city also has plenty of great bars and restaurants. I’d definitely recommend a stay in this fantastic hotel.

We stayed in a one bedroom apartment on the seventh floor of the Santiago building which is in a great central location - close to the shops, restaurants and supermarkets. The apartment was very spacious with a well equipped kitchen which was strangely empty. There was no washing up liquid and we discovered that a dishwasher tablet was only supplied on the first day (although reception did provide another one when asked). Oddly enough there were plenty of coffee pods!! We were very happy to have a washing machine! A couple of the light bulbs in the lounge didn't work which made it a bit dark. The bed was very comfortable and it was nice to be able to open the windows to let some fresh air in. Our apartment was serviced every day - and the ladies housekeeping did a really excellent job!

My wife and I stayed there for five days in Oct 2018 and truly enjoyed this newly renovated and modern appartment. There are 3 appt available and the one we had was the smallest, all in length but still well suited for 2 to 4 people. Everything is modern and very effective except maybe the power that is kind of fragile when 2 or 3 appt do cooking at the same time. Please note that the main breaker is in the common room below the Wifi box. The appt is located in the old City, so very convenient to get to great restaurants as well as a 3 minute walk to the Bilbao Central Train Station. Note however that this sector can be rock'n'roll at night, so we stayed away from the San Francisco street as much as possible. Our favorite grocery store was the Lidl right across from the railway tracks 8 minutes walk from the appt. Sylvia helped us out as a co-owner but her english is limited.

BILBAO APARTMENTS ATXURI are modern apartments very close (500 meters)to the old town. They have 1 or 2 rooms, living room, kitchen, and bathroom. Common services: Free WIFI area, gymnasium free, terrace-solarium, meeting room, hairdressing salon and parking.
There must be a million better options than here. It’s a little out of town although for me that wasn’t the issue at all. The reception isn’t the quickest in the world as it is an office where you get seen when they are ready. I waited a good ten minutes being told to take a seat in the living room. You could just tell by this area that things weren’t going to be great. My apartment had what can only be described as one of the worst beds I have ever encountered. The mattress in terms of comfort was absolutely awful, it probably would have been softer sleeping on the floor. I had to put the winter blanket on the mattress to try and soften it up a bit. The bathroom was practical shall we say, that is the best I will say about it. The hot water in the shower was hit and miss as well. I can safely say I won’t ever be back and I would recommend you don’t stay here, you have been warned.

The Urban Sondika Hotel By Eurotels is ideal for enjoying the main tourist attractions in the city of Bilbao: Guggenheim, San Mamés, Bilbao Basket, the Maritime Museum, etc. It’s a great way to be able to take in the culture and gastronomy of Bilbao anytime of the yea
We wanted a nice hotel within easy reach of Bilbao and the Airport. We were disappointed not to have coffee and tea in our room . The cost of a cold buffet breakfast was unjustified . The poorly promoted restaurant which we only discovered on our second night was excellent and good value.

Be aware when you book that there is charge of 30 euros for arriving later than 21 for the check in. This information is only available to you once they have got your money and not in the booking conditions. We let them know we would arrive at 21.20 since our train was arriving at 21.10 at San Sebastian. The train station is 5 min walk. They replied saying ok, we will see you at 21.20 at the property. We arrived at 21.20 and no one was at the guest house to open the door. We called the phone and the man said he left when he couldn’t get through to me. I changed countries recently so my number in booking was old but, as I said, we agreed previously that we would be there at 21.20. He could have also send me an email. We waited for 40 min(!) for him to come back and do the check in. We had to move a dinner reservation. At no point did he apologise for his mistake but even had the cheek to say “he was making us a favor” for not charging us the 30 euros. Dude, you dont mention anything in the booking polices and you had us waiting 40 min outside. The toilet had glass walls (and they say romance is dead) and i showered once with cold water and once with not so warm water. The room was noisy and you could hear people showering in other rooms (??) It is a total disappointment.
