Excellent place, very unique, 5 star dinner downstairs and very good service too! Best would be to spent some more time than just one night in order to get into the castle feeling and history. Still very nice way to make kind of a "time travel" Please forget Wi-fi and TV when you stay here.

Gimo Herrgård is Sweden's first Gustavian Manor and was built in the 1760's - the iron work heydays. Today it is a four star family run hotel featuring 86 rooms and suites with ensuite bathrooms, satellite TV and free Wi-Fi. The rooms are located in the manor wings, Brukskontoret (the former iron works office), Lilla Herrgården (the iron works manager's former residence) and Kassörsbostaden (the iron works bookkeeper's residence). Rooms are available in several categories, ranging from standard rooms to superior spa-rooms with private sauna and jacuzzi. The hotel features 13 meeting rooms for groups of up to 110 persons and five different dining rooms and chambres separées. Gimo Herrgård also features an on-site tennis court, a discgolf course, a rope course 14 meters up in the air, a 100 meter zip-line and the Sjöstugan SPA-lounge. Several golf courses are within a few minutes' drive. Gimo Herrgård is a member of Chaine des Rotisseurs, Countryside Hotels and Svenska Möten.
Friendly, helpful and accommodating personnel, lovely surroundings, comfortable, clean rooms, good food and plenty of fun activities. We tried frisbee golf, croquet, pétanque and used the spa tubs and swam in the lake. We are very happy with our weekend.

This manor house lies by Lake Roxen, only 12 km from Linkoping. It offers free Wi-Fi, free private parking and a large surrounding garden.
Positive - Absolutely beautiful setting. We loved the countryside feel, the lovely surroundings, the horses, cows, dogs and cats. The room was clean and spacious. The view of the pasture was amazing. It was lovely to walk around and enjoy the quiet surroundings. We loved swimming in the pool - it was clean and warm. The pool deck was lovely to sit and have a drink. We enjoyed taking with other families and relaxing . Negative - The dishes were dirty. We couldn't understand how glasses, plates etc were repeatedly dirty - at breakfast and dinner. We saw our food being warmed in the microwave .... it tasted ok ... but it put us off a bit. We are not into trophy hunting and both sitting rooms are adorned with stuffed hunted animals..... if you are against trophy hunting it may be best to skip out on this place. There needs to be more staff around to help guests feel comfortable. Upon arrival at 3pm we couldn't find anyone. There are no staff available after 9 pm ..... we understand it is family run but someone should be around. This place is absolutely beautiful and with a little sprucing up it would be a secluded paradise. We enjoyed ourselves

Teleborgs Castle is locating ca 3km from the city centre in a beautiful garden on the lakeside. There is a bus stop ca 400 m from the hotel, so you can take the bus to get to the city. Buses are leavíng in the front of the university main building in every 10 minutes or so and will take you to the Växjö railway station. You can also take ca 35-40 minutes walk around the lake, the walking trail starts at the front of the hotel. The interior of the hotel is beautiful: gorgeous dining hall and lobby, high ceilings, stained glass windows and beautiful views to the garden. I did not know (and there was no information on the hotel website!), that some of the rooms are locating in the old gatekeeper buildings ca 300 m from the main Castle. Although our room was very beautifully decorated and comfortable, it was somewhat disappointing that we could not stay at the main building, especially taking into account the price of the room. It is somewhat inconvenient to walk every morning to the Castle for breakfast or dinner, so if you are an older couple, disabled or a family with the kids, be sure that your rooms are in the main building!

The eclectic Häringe Palace 20 min south of Stockholm. Close to the city and with beautiful surroundings it is the perfect place for a weekend getaway. The Palace has something for everyone - whether you like to stay for a romantic weekend, start the day with a morning swim in the outdoor pool, go bowling on a track from the thirties, explore the palace surroundings and all our statues, try our popular weekend brunch or enjoy a tasteful dinner in the Palace restaurant. There is really something magical about Häringe.
Given the price for the room you’d except a higher standard. Lighting was poor, heating not cozy (chilly), and really thin walls with sound transporting through the building (at least our house, there are several) Food on the other hand was good, more in line with the pricing. Overall a nice experience but with higher pricing so goes your expectations I guess... and room wise they don’t deliver.

We stayed overnight for a wedding in summer. Pro's: 1. Beautiful old building surrounded by well designed gardens. Very green. 2. Food (wedding dinner and breakfast) were excellent. Con's: 1. Our room was tiny. It was a glorified single room (with what felt like a single bed) for 2 people. No room for bags. 2. Noisy - could hear other people in the hallways and in other rooms. Overall, a lovely place for a wedding, but don't stay overnight unless you find a large room!

This is an old castle (17 century) now working as a hotel. Nice surroundings, friendly staff, good food. Some Saturdays there is an event called Death takes command, where the guests have to find out who the murder is. This is together with a dinner. Very nice

As family business retreat, Ortofta Castle was chosen to frame our two days of intense workshop meetings, and what a great choice of location it showed up to be. It was a very joyful stay at Ortofta. Extremely nice and warm environment with a great atmosphere. Rooms very charming and personal, food and service superb, everyone here really enjoyed our stay in the historic surroundings and for the purpose as a family business retreat, the exclusive privacy was highly appreciated. Thank you so much Ortofta for hosting us and making long working days joyful. Very best regards and warm recommendations family Ree
