Known for its beer, sausages, Oktoberfest and lederhosen, Bavaria is Germany’s largest federal state and one of its most popular tourist destinations. It's also one of the most independent-minded regions. Home to cities like Munich (the capital) and Nuremberg, Bavaria is also cherished for its hilly countryside, where such gorgeous sites as Hohenschwangau Castle, Neuschwanstein Castle (the model for Sleeping Beauty’s Castle at Disneyland) and Linderhof and HerrenChiemsee Palaces can be found.

Due to certain very critical reviews, we arrived with mixed feelings. At check-in we were positively surprised for the first time: extremely friendly and professional. Unfortunately, we did not get a room with a lake view; but we were satisfied with the room we had - viewing an old pear tree on a very quiet courtyard. Obviously, a room in a building with 2-metre-thick old stone walls is not as bright as one in a modern steel/glass building, but our room was large enough, nicely renovated and functionally furnished. From the room into Lake Constance in less than two minutes: for us that was great, and we even went swimming in pouring rain on the day of our departure. The breakfast was certainly not like in a 5-star hotel we are used to when travelling to big cities, but the selection and quality was perfectly okay. Filter coffee is available from the service, cappuccino and espresso from a very well working machine at the buffet. Why anyone can have a problem with this is beyond my understanding. While some young staff members do not have the professional experience I expect and get at a Park Hyatt, this is nothing to complain about. The hotel is rated at 3* and does not pretend to be anything else. I have been in 4* properties with much lower overall quality. We were completely satisfied and will certainly come back.

We stayed two nights which is renovated to the highest standards with exceptional interior design and top class finishes. Character design with modern 5 star luxury design inside the structure of an old great house with exposed wooden beams. It is a cosy comfortable place with only a small number of rooms and very personal service. The staff are particularly friendly and professional. Breakfasts (including eggs and bacon made to order) were excellent. We had dinners in the nearby associated Betzenstube restaurant which is equally excellent. Betzenstein was our base for visits to Bayreuth and Nuremberg. It is a pleasant, quiet, "off the beaten track" village/town, only a few km off the Nuremberg-Bayreuth autobahn.

Staying in an actual 13th century medieval was beyond words. There are 4 separate "apartments" available to rent. This castle has been in the same family since the 14th century, the current owners and residents, is Dr. Manfred von Crailsheim and his wife. They took the time to give us a private tour of the castle and its surroundings, invited us to their home in the castle for wine and cheese. We stayed in the Carola apartment which has a large living room ,full kitchen, bedroom, full bath and a foyer. All furnished with antiques and period furniture. Very centrally located to many scenic towns along the "Romantic Road" Our hosts provided us with much information for other towns, castles, dining and shopping.

This isn't your typical hilltop castle. Driving in to Neufahrn it isn't visible until you reach the turn. A very pleasant surprise. Well maintained grounds, beautiful courtyard and welcoming staff. Conscience of covid guidelines. Our room felt like an original castle from the past with all the modern conveniences including a minibar. Many activities and festivals throughout the year.

This house whose history goes back to the 14th century is like a true monument of authenticity. Located in an idyllic village, right behind a forest and in the immediate vicinity of Frankfurt, Schloss Rothenbuch is ready to welcome your teams. With its inner courtyard and cozy atmosphere, it offers many different ways to relax and enjoy your seminar or team building with your colleagues near Frankfurt.
Some of my favorite team-building experiences have been in Chateauform properties and my time at Schlosshotel Rothenbuch was excellent. The property is small and charming, full of history, and with all of the amenities you would expect from Chateauform. Every detail is captured here to make you feel at home and productive. The host family truly works to make it your home for your time there. My room was a good size, with a desk and a sitting area. The meeting rooms were modern and convenient, containing everything we could need. Of course, the unlimited supply of coffee, drinks, and snacks kept us going! If you haven't experienced Chateauform dining, it is truly a masterpiece and beyond description! And finally, each evening was full of making memories around the property - in the self-serve bar, outside by the fire, in the karaoke room, or at the ping pong table. I can't recommend Chateauform enough. This property fits into the family nicely and it is close (40 mins) from Frankfurt.

I must say that I haven't stayed overnight YET, but i have experienced the grounds three times; all enchanting. The surrounding forest is full of surprises that must be experienced step by step. My son and I were fortunate enough to catch a Shakespeare performance in the courtyard. All three times I we were captured by the grounds and authentic feel. We were lost in time. My next visit there will be an extended stay and hopefully a proposal.
