Chile's Valle Central, a verdant valley tucked between the Andes and the coastal mountain ranges, has a mild climate and moist soil perfect for grape growing. Made up of four distinct wine regions, Maipo, Rapel, Curico and Maule, the area is criss-crossed by well-traveled wine roads. At the northern end of the valley is Maipo, the oldest of Chile's wine regions, famous for its Cabernet Sauvignon. At the opposite end is Maule, which still grows Pais, the first grape brought to South America.

Bano y cocina equipados full. Desayuno, Lena y carbon incluida.
Staff was super friendly. Cabanas were super clean. Fire pit was great to sit out at night with some wine. King size bed was super friendly. Breakfast was included (but you had to cook your own eggs). I highly recommend this place.

Only 2 hours from Santiago, in the foothills of Colchagua, there is a hidden paradise of beauty and tranquility known as Shangri-La Lodge Shangri-La has 7 fully equipped cabins on the shores of Rio Claro, surrounded by native forest with an exclusive beach. In an environment of absolute privacy and security, you and family can relax, go fishing, guided walks, horseback riding, enjoy our hot tub and a relaxation massage. Shangri-la is therty minutes drive to the wordl famous Colchagua wine route.
I stayed two nights (Sept 23 and 24): the location is amazing: after a few km on a dirt road, you enter the property and go down to the river with the 'cabanas' hidden in the forest. Plenty of activities on site. This is really the perfect place to relax and enjoy the nature. Dinner was really great, as well as the breakfast! I went walking on the road that goes to the 'termas', and the scenery is just amazing. I saw some condors, plenty of birds, wild horses, etc. At night I would make a small fire and read a book looking at the river. Jose was really helpful when I was organizing my trip.

No entregan boleta. A bad experience They didn't respected the agreed price on a reservation paid and confirmed online weeks before on one day before arrival. Cabin very inferior to the one offered, without kitchen, refrigerator nor bosca. We were cold and slept badly. Bad explanations, there is no concern for customers or willingness to solve an error that was not from us. Bathroom with a smell of drainage and water from the WC on the floor constantly. Regular breakfast: Disorganized, bread dishes totally wet. From the website where we made the reservation, they say that they will take measures for non-compliance because after talking to them they inform us of a bad response from the management of the cabins. We saw late a negative comment that spoke of a situation very similar to ours ... Avoid this accommodation, there are better options.

With cabañas in Chile one must always be prepared to have some adventures and be ready to go with the flow. Overall this is a really nice place to stay. We stayed here from December 28, 2012 - January 1, 2013. We took the super deluxe New Years package. Rooms were 100,000CLP ($211USD) a night. These cabañas have been open for just one year and show as new. The units were perfect for a family holiday weekend getaway. Included cocktail, breakfast buffet, activities of boating and biking. The people who manage the location were delightful and charming. There is plenty to do for the mountain/downhill biker and lake enthusiast. We will be returning and recommend Cabañas Lago Vichuquén --with some caveats. Note: there is no potable water and none offered- be sure to pack your own! Getting there- 4hrs+ from Santiago. Once in the hills much of it is on dusty unpaved roads that are reasonably well maintained. Room 407- Overall: very clean, relatively new condition, great views. Closet had no bar to hang up clothes. Kitchen moderately stocked with pots pans and service plates, utensils. TV with satellite /cable. Bedrooms clean and comfortable. Close to water, units are located in hill across the main street. Negatives: No coffe pot. No potable water provided for first day arrival. No place to hang up clothes. Challenges... the water took a long while to heat up and heater would occasionally shut off requiring closing off water and starting it up again. The usual pesky mosquito or two. Service: We opted out of daily service. Service offered every 3-days. The management allowed us to store our small Zodiac boat and motor in their bodega. They were very accommodating with the use of their kayaks, boating services on the water. Negatives: Toilet paper was not replaced, extra garbage bags not offered, No potable water provided for first arrival. Restaurant: We had one Breakfast which was lovely- apple crepes, bread, fruit. New Year's Eve dinner was fun and tasty- plenty of appetizers, main course of beef, chicken barbecued /asado. It seems most of their effort was on preparing for this event. Best to have your supplies for first night arrival, including water. New Year's Eve had music, dancing, champagne, grapes, and lentils. Negatives: Friday night arrival -We were offered a menu but only one item was available - pizza. Challenge- we were surprised by an uninvited visitor-- a tarantula spider scurried between our tables giving the little ones great delight and the adults some cause for panic. All was well though and it offered us a fun memory...despite our arachniphobia. Pool- Small but adequate for family splashing about- depth is shallow. Sits on bluff overlooking lake. Play area is perfect for little ones.
