Great location, nice rooms, Danish hospitality and food!!

Reviewed By kristinoslo2015

Travelled with 50+ teenagers on a 3 day trip. The Danish hosts made us feel welcome, served great food and had patience with us (it did get a bit noisy). Rooms were nice and the common areas were new and in simple Nordic design - very pleasant. The view towards Gaustadtoppen is amazing! Wifi, parking, a small kiosk, sauna and you can go for a swim in the lake! I will come back to this place!

Stayed one night in a 4 bed cabin. Good location 15 minutes from Boe and Sommarland. Our cabin was very simple but with basic needs: fridge, hot plate, knifes and forks, cups and plates and free wifi. The sanitary facilities are brand new and very nice. The camping had anniversary when we were there and they had a barbecue with free food and drinks and games for all the guests. Very nice. Enjoyed our stay very much.

Great location but noisy

This campsite has a lot going for it. Great location near Boe in Telemark, wakeboard park, lake Norsjo, lots of great nature hikes nearby. The place is filled with activities for children and it was our second stay here. There is one thing I don`t like and that is the noise at night. Every night there was someone sitting up having a good time and making it difficult for others to sleep. they have a silence by 11pm rule, but it is obviously not enforced....

I really want to say that I loved this place in most ways, but it was not perfect and it could quite easily have been. The entry and where to park could use some more signage maybe also in different languages as we didn’t know were to park the car to go into reception. Also there are a lot of signs that are confusing all over the place, so the ‘Reception’ one could be a bit easier to see to be honest as it wasn’t hugely clear. If you go into the first area that looks like a shop then you’ll see the staff at the desk off to the right. Upon our arrival they were incredibly lovely and warm. We got our key quick and directions to our Hytta around the corner and behind the building at No.1! You can park right in front of your little bungalow and that’s quite handy I think. There was a BBQ table out front (sadly you need to BYO BBQ) to sit at if you want to and a cute little cabin within. We were unfortunately opposite the campgrounds rubbish bins so the smell occasionally wifts past but also right in front of the ‘sweet waffle’ food truck so that looked cool even tho we didn’t get a chance to try it out. There was two rooms, a basic comfy lounge, coffee table and dining table with two chairs with Bunk beds (2x small double beds) and kitchenette with a separate 1980’s bathroom. The kitchenette comes with two hobs and includes a saucepan, frypan and mini oven. There’s glasses, cups, plates and bowls and basic cutlery so you can easily make breakfast or dinner like we did in bringing frozen croissants and a lasagna from home. The sink comes with a scrubber but no paper or tea towels so you’ll need them. There’s also a toaster, kettle and coffeepot if you bring your own filter coffee. The splashback makes it feel clean and pretty nice. Then there’s the bathroom directly behind the kitchenette. This is where we found it to be a massive let down. The bathroom has gross brown tiled old school flooring that came with a huge floor squeegee for a reason as the shower curtain held nothing in and just leans onto you as you try to shower and you watch the water completely cover the floor. We knew to bring towels and bedding but didn’t know to bring bath mats or hand towels so yeah BRING BATH MATS but just know that they probably need to be picked up and put down before you enter and exit the shower as they’ll quickly become drenched if you leave them on the floor as the drain isn’t quick enough to filter the water away so yeah we trudged water through to the other room and had to take off pajama pants if we wanted to use the bathroom during the night or after someone has showered, not ideal. For less than 3000kr a small renovation of adding a small dusjkabinette could solve this problem so I hope the park investigates this option. I know this is also a ‘disabled’ room but again, you could just more regularly clear the drains and install bending doors with some water guarding at the bottom so that might help too. Easy fixes! Moving on from this though, the park offers a great little restaurant with surprisingly delicious food and no stingy offerings either, a pretty great amount of food in each meal for very decent price given how expensive Norway is. The staff there were super friendly too. We really loved our meals, potato for me, burger for the hubbie and the boys shared a pizza too. All really yummy. On-site also is a pretty good sized pool with a baby pool sectioned off and tho you have to pay, I think it’s worth it. They also have a playground with swings and trampolines and a giant pillow that the kids loved and the winner was the peddle-powered go-carts that also required payment but it honestly wasn’t much and I think they were a huge hit. Think the hubbie and 8yr old did mini-golf and had a bit of fun too. I recommend Bø Camping but we would never stay in the cabin again, maybe an apartment if their bathrooms are nicer.
