Management don’t care

Whispering pines good campground family friendly and the year round people excellent great atmosphere as for the management 1 out of 10 facilities absolutely poor condition bathrooms, showers backed up with dusty water, laundry broken dryers for months, good staff but over worked , grounds keeping very poor with huge dead trees over campers, the care for public and personal lives is the least of management worries it’s basically all about the money, rules that apply to you usually don’t apply to them. Good luck and stay safe with your staying …..

Beautiful sites and friendly atmosphere!

Beautiful campground! Huge sites, friendly staff and the property was clean and very well maintained. The pool was nice and the kids loved the water slides. There could have been more activities for kids but other than that, we definitely plan to go back here again.

Pleasant Place For An Overnight Stay.

Reviewed By russianwulfgar

Arriving in the dark, look for your campsite by numbers painted on the road, not on signposts like some other campgrounds. Site #144 has a nice fire pit made out of rocks, unlike most of the metal circular rings you see everywhere else. There's a very nice hilltop you can climb to see the surrounding area. Super clean restroom facilities.

Thrilled with our first visit

Reviewed By Lindamaga

We visited for a 3-day weekend. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a friendly and helpful staff member who anticipated what we would need to know as “newbies”. We were free to explore the trails and woods on our own, but were also welcome to socialize outside the camp office or around a campfire. The swimming pond was refreshing and well cared for. The members at Dyer Woods share responsibility for the upkeep by each person contributing according to their strength, and the campground is in wonderful shape. Don’t miss the beautiful hiking trails and wilderness pond. We loved the sense of community and kindness we were shown, and look forward to returning!

Airstream dream

Our Airstream Airbnb happened to be in Melville Ponds Campground. The Airstream was the draw but how lucky we were to be in this campground. It is beautifully wooded with lots of shade, very well maintained, has a sweet little store and very pleasant staff. The location couldn’t be better as it’s minutes from Newport and beaches. Looking forward to a return trip.

LOVE this place!

Reviewed By Lyndria

We spent one night here in July. I wish we could have stayed longer. It's rustic, no hookups or bathrooms that I saw. But the beach is steps away. It was almost empty, and I truly enjoyed sitting out on the sand in my chair in the evening and again in the morning. It seems like a lot of the local folks camp all week and go home on the weekends when the tourists come. That is what one local told us anyway.

Callous, zero assistance in an emergency

Reviewed By dawnbB3521QB

I have never written a bad review of any business - until now. This is obviously a place for seasonal campers and a great many sites have additional tents, fences, and scaffolding which really makes the sites seem smaller. RVs are wedged in like it is a Walmart parking lot on a Saturday and there are few mature trees, but this wasn't the issue why we won't return. On our departure day we suddenly had the 27 foot slide on our 40 foot coach break. We couldn't get any help from the campground other than, "You need to be out by 3:00 p.m." That's it. My husband is 65, recovering from a broken arm, my twins are 14 and I have serious arthritis. There was zero Wifi to research any emergency RV assistance, which we needed when their recommended service was unavailable. The office said they would send a text with numbers but they did not. I finally pushed enough to have two workers from the grounds crew help. Aiden and Lawrence were wonderful and we couldn't have done it without them. Each phone call to the office was the same, "Be out by 3". In fairness, when we turned in our key the manager said if he'd been aware of the situation he would have helped, but the overall callousness from this campground was horrible.

Great Local Campground w/ Hike In Campsites on the Angel Loop Trail

Reviewed By shimmygrl8

George Washington Campground in Chepachet, RI is a great campground especially if your local and don't want to travel far to get that outdoor experience. Amenities include: coin operated hot showers, flush toilets and privies located throughout the campground. They have a beach with access to Bowdish Lake. Although they don't offer boat rentals, you can bring your own. They also have several walking trails (2 miles, 6 miles & 8 miles). This campground does not have a camp store so no firewood for sale. We found plenty of fallen tree debris or you can buy local firewood from down the street. They offer tent sites, RV sites and hike-in campsites. The Angel loop trail is about 1/2 mile hike through the woods so be prepared to hike in with everything you will need including water. There are 7 campsites in total with platforms, fire rings & picnic tables. We stayed at campsite #7. In my opinion, site #4 is the best since it offers the most privacy. Unfortunately, I didn't take pics of site 4 since there were other campers occupying the site. Overall, this was a great camping experience. I would recommend George Washington campground to others and would go back again next season.

Very clean, Very Friendly

Tight turn to get in this camp ground because we turned in the wrong drive way. It is conveniently located outside Newport Rhode Island. 30 amp service with water and sewer. Very tight sites. For our needs this is ok. They do not take credit cards, all cash. This is ok for basic needs.
