Very nice Yufuin ryokan located at the other end of town from the train/bus station, about a 15 minute walk. Advise using Google maps when walking around, especially after dark. It has both public and three private onsens and options for both breakfast and dinner. We stayed two nights and had the breakfast option. The two breakfasts were both very delicious and completely delicious different. We had dinner at nearby restaurants. The staff were all very helpful and courteous. The hotel was a bit pricey.

We had a confirmed reservation here for three nights on our travel documents. When we booked in they had two nights. It was our travel companies fault. The staff, especially Morachi? Were very helpful, and managed to get us the third night down the road. Anything else would have been a disaster. Room wise it was lovely, Japanese style, but due to the wood, very noisy, and we had to pull our mattresss into the living room to get some sleep. Breakfast Japanese style was amazing. Onsen was an experience well worth doing.

What a fabulous experience of Japan! Hot spring bath inside our room and traditional Japanese Tatami beds. The breakfasts were meticulously presented and delicious. Service - outstanding. On the day of our departure, we could not book a taxi or even buy bus/train tickets to Fukuoka. A staff member drove us to Fukuoka in his personal car. That’s 1.5 hours away by car!!! They would not allow us to pay for the trip! Such kindness and dedication to the customer. I cannot recommend Itsuki Ryokan enough.

Tsukanoma is located uphill of the Yufuin basin, where is relatively quiet and calm area in Yufuin. It’s a bit away from central location and seems taking a taxi would be the best access (it’s possible to go on foot too though). I stayed at this ryokan with the no meal option (Still, they have a cozy restaurant which serves very good Onsen-steamed meals. And we enjoyed healthy and delicious dinner there with reasonable price). The room is quite large and maintained decently. Every villa has private bathes for each and they also have big open-air Onsen which is unforgettably beautiful and relaxing (actually I was there for about 2 hours!). Onsen water is extremely smooth, no smell, proper temperature, and so whitish that I couldn’t see the bottom (I’m not sure how). Mt. Yufu can be seen from the big bathes during the day. I believe the most prominent features of this ryokan is the extremely excellent Onsen. Onsen and meal option without staying can be also available. Service is perfect, the meals are healthy, Onsen is a heaven on earth. If you are looking for somewhere you can relax from the bottom of your heart and want to be spoiled, I assure Tsukanoma is the best place to go.

We (5 adults and 2 kids) stayed one night in Villa Touou. 2 staffers were already meeting us at the parking area who also directed us to drive to the villa right away. The check in was just done swiftly in the villa where the kids can settle down easily. The welcome snack was so delicious I regret I didn't finish the ones my other family members didn't consume. There was one standalone bedroom with 2 double beds facing a toilet (without bath). Then the master bedroom is connected to 1 tatami area and 1 tatami attic. With 7 of us, Ikkoten already set up 2 sets of mattresses in the attic and another 1 in the tatami area. With kids in a rainy weather, we appreciated a lot that the front desk called us before they drove to pick us up to head to the dining room. I guess each room/villa had their own private dining room. Only complaint is that our cars had to park a bit further up slope than the villa. And upon check out, while we were hoping we could drive our car to the front of the villa so that we could load our luggage easier, the hotel amenity car decided to restock our villas and occupied the front space of the villa. While we enjoyed the comfortable living room at night with our whole family, we also wished to try the smaller room where the in-room onsen could also enjoy the fantastic view. The onsen in Villa Touou does not have any view.

I want to go back already! Definitely one of the best experiences we had as a family. It was definitely worth it to visit Yufuin during winter and the ryokan didn’t disappoint. One of the reasons why we booked this place was their private onsens. Coming from a different culture where public bathing is not really part of the culture, but we wanted to try, we immediately booked this place when it was referred to us. Their ryokan is really charming and self-sufficient. It was definitely clean and the staff was really accommodating from the very start. They were very patient in introducing their lovely place while we get distracted with how great the place was. We were also lucky to experience their special breakfast for New Year’s. Location is very convenient as it’s walking distance from the train station. It’s also a 20-min walk to Kirinko Lake but longer if you stop at the shops and food stalls along the way. I definitely recommend this place and I can’t wait to go back already.

We were a group of 6 people and booked Yufu Ryouchiku for 1 night to enjoy hot spring in Yufuin. It was an excellent stay! Service and food were very great! First, when we arrived, since it was not the check in time yet, we dropped off our baggage and kept wandering around in Yufuin. At around 5pm, we went back to get our rooms. The room is very spacious even for three people stay. The staff who assisted us to check in called Trung (忠). He is very friendly and helpful! He showed us around the Ryokan patiently and prepared dinner for us! Dinner were very great! We chose the set with Beef Sukiyaki and had it in a private dinning room. It was very nice! There were many dishes and Trung explained to us patiently. We enjoyed our meal very much! If you plan to stay in Yufuin and like to enjoy hot spring, highly recommend you to stay in Yufu Ryouchiku! Although they do not have private bathroom in each room, you can enjoy hot spring and take a bath in one of four hot springs! They provide shower facilities too. You can lock the door when you take a bath and it becomes your private bathroom! Once again, thanks Trung and everyone in Yufu Rychiku. We really enjoyed our stay!

Yadoya Ohashi didn't let us down for our very first ryokan experience! Locally operated, this small ryokan compensates its size with attentive service and delicious local gourmet. Our room was petite with a giant sofa overlooking the outdoor onsen, the onsen is big enough for 2-3 people and with a peaceful, authentic setting. The beds were located on the attic, which I found quite difficult to climb especially in the dark. Yet the beddings are comfy and it's nice to hear bird chirping around sunrise. We had our breakfast and dinner in the same private room, spacious and overlooking the garden. The sukiyaki dinner was a nice surprise - they offered authentic local wagyu beef that melt into your mouth! The breakfast was very decent as well with boiling hot miso soup as the perfect ending. The ryokan pool is full of koi where the guests can feed them with prepared food. We were lucky to see some autumn leaves in the garden, feeling zen energy flowing! I'd recommend this ryokan for couple who seek for a getaway.

Beautiful little Japanese ryokan located on the hill. Loved our room which is a well-appointed, three-leveled Japanese style room with a private outdoor onsen attached. As always I was very satisfied with the quality of food choice, cleanness and comfort of the room, and well-thought-after amenities. The only thing I was not satisfied with was the staff who look after us. Though she was very polite, I didn’t feel the warmth and sincerity as I normally do from Japanese people. Maybe she was just too tired. One incident particularly upset me was that she came in without our permission to clean our breakfast table, while I was completely naked in the onsen right out the living room where she could see! Though I don’t think she saw me, it did make me very uncomfortable.
