Guatemalas spectacular Western Highlands run from Antigua to the Mexican border. Pines blanket misty hillsides, rivers cascade through sliver-thin ravines, volcanoes rumble overhead. Catch market day or witness offerings to drinking, smoking St. Maximon, in Chichicastenango. See traditional life in the Ixil Triangle. Clamber the Cuchumatanes Mountains. Mayan dialects and ceremonies are still part of everyday life for the majority of Guatemalas indigenous population, living where their ancestors trod.

Hotel Sak'cari El Amanecer is an Eco-hotel located on the beautiful shores of Lake Atitlan. It has 20 lovely rooms overlooking the lake, the names sak'cari and amanecer mean sunrise in Tz'tujil and Spanish. The hotel is located in the heart of San Pedro La Laguna within walking distance to fine restaurants, bars and spanish schools.
One of our stops back packing in Guatemala, we stayed two nights. Nice clean and friendly staff. Close to center and lots of restaurants close by. Also fairly close to take the boat to Santiago. Very close to tour operators.

My wife and I came to Anzan to our honeymoon. This is truly the best experience, host, staff and hotel for such an event. From the very personal service, of Dita, the host, their Staff (Dorka, John and Pascual), to a truly magnificent culinary experience and a general feeling of wonder, beauty, great taste and familiarity floods you from the front door til the heartbreaking moment of having to leave. Although the service is incredible they have a great way to make you feel very private, almost as if you were the only soul in this patch of paradise. The house is, in itself, a piece of art and the aesthetics of the rooms are curated with a great eye for beauty and calmness. The spatial feeling makes you feel as if you were on a spiritual retreat. There isn’t a window or a view you wouldn’t pass by without stoping to admire. From Pascual and Dorka you will always get a heartwarming smile and disposition to acommodatte you as if it were your own home. You can’t come to Anzan and not have a dinner made by John and Dita. Every dish is a really delicious experience hosted in a beautifully arranged garden, the sound of the lake an exquisite climate an some great wines handpicked by Dita. Dita has the best recomendations for local experiences, stores and activities. Activities really worth doing even when having to leave the hotel would be difficult for the before mentioned need to use every second in enjoying Anzan. You will want everyone to get to know this place but also to keep it to yourself as a personal treasure.

I stayed here for three nights and loved the place! Our rooms (we moved rooms after the first night) both had jacuzzis that pumped in hot volcano heated mineral water. Some rooms have an in room sauna that is heated by volcano vapor. Also in the mornings between 7 and 9 and in the evenings between 830 and 1030 you can use the vapor rooms in their spa area for free. The beds were super comfortable and the rooms were beautiful. We ate a lot of meals at the restaurant which was also affordable. There’s a spa there but the massage I got felt like someone who went to massage school for a month (I’m a massage therapist, I should know.) Other than that a great stay! Tip: cheaper rate if you deal directly with the hotel BUT you better know Spanish!

Hotel Tiosh Abaj was built with a special interest to be a beautiful, diverse, and comfortable resort destination. Our goal is to support the regional economy and to create a wonderful experience to local and international travellers. We have 30 rooms (22 Standard rooms and 8 Suites). The hotel and its outbuildings were built with many artistic hand crafted stones, given it a natural touch that matches the surroundings. Our hotel's main building has four levels with spacious rooms with tile floors, hand-carved wood doors, and private bathrooms with hot water. Our rooms have hand-made colonial-style furniture, orthopedic mattresses, and colorful Mayan weavings to ensure a comfortable beautiful stay. Each room also has a private balcony or patio that looks out over the gardens, with the upper floors showings a view of the lake. Each room also features Cable TV and Wireless Internet. Within our hotel, guests from all over the world enjoy private access to the shores of Lake Atitlan. Guests can take in the exquisite landscaped gardens, lie in a hammock, enjoy an organic coffee on the pool deck or experience our delicious menu of fresh international and national offerings.
This is such a great hotel! It has views, big grounds, nooks for privacy and a great pool. It has everything from suites to dorm rooms, great views, and a staff that just couldn't be beat. Their English is a work in progress, but their hospitality unmatched. There weren't many American guests, but their should be. We got to watch game 7 of the world series on the big screen in the dining room. The balconies are great. The paths around the grounds are even the lighting is great, the stairs are well lighted, and easy to climb, and have hand rails. I know that doesn't sound like a big deal, but believe me, it is.

Nice people, known family in the city. and Cheap and basic set up for budget travelers. Nice view on the lake and closer to downtown! Only annoying thing is that the internet is not stable... I would go again at this hotel.

A really nice hotel with a great location and for the price it was large with a private bathroom. It had hot water but unfortunately very little pressure. The staff were super friendly so no big complaints. I just can't give it 5 stars because the windows are single pane and don't shut that well so the town noise is crazy loud all night. I would still recommend this hotel and would stay again, just remember your ear plugs.

I stayed here for four nights whilst doing some hiking around Xela. The location is perfect, just a couple of minutes walk from the main square, bars and restaurants. It’s very quiet which is lovely and the rooms are comfortable and practical. Plenty of space for my things. There was a small TV in the room and excellent WiFi. Everything was spotlessly clean and the kitchen is very well equipped. Microwave, kettle, free drinking water, oven, fridge, etc. As I was making sandwiches to eat whilst hiking the lady placed name labels in the fridge to identify my things. Excellent and well recommended choice.

A simple but comfortable and clean place to stay in San Pedro. 10-15 minute walk to the centre and we preferred that. A 2 minute walk from the hotel down to the lake. The family who run the place are really lovely and helpful, staying here gives you a real feel of local Guatemalan life. In terms of value for money it’s got to be unbeatable in the San Pedro area. We really enjoyed it and would stay here again!

Can't complain about the room balcony views and the wonderful hospitality, but it's very noisy at night. The surrounding stray dogs bark all night, especially the one right opposite! The tuk tuks are also very noisy until the early hours of the morning! We weren't able to get a hot shower, more of a luke warm trickle. Also had to be careful that the sink didn't come any further of the wall. I suspect it's also noisy if you book a hotel down by Pana dock!
