Not a peaceful stay

Reviewed By HCEPCDC

I had booked two nights at the hotel. I do have to give a big shout out to one of the bar staff when I arrived on the Saturday night after a 12 hour journey from England - I was looked after and dinner sorted fairly quickly. The bar was packed and I appreciated that great customer service. I think I was that tired I fell straight to sleep the first night. HOWEVER, the second night, after a lovely day out, I got back to my room around 6.30pm. I was in room 6 which I then realised was above the kitchens and it was seriously noisy until around 11pm. A lot of pans banging etc. If I hadn't been so tired (cycled the Greenway) I would have gone down to reception to complain and / or see if I could swop rooms. When I raised my concerns with the two members of staff the next morning, it came as no surprise to them. I assume people must have complained before. I had thought they'd be apologetic and/or give me a discount off the cost of the room - but no, there wasn't much sympathy. For the price I paid I wasn't impressed and I wouldn't book a room here again, which is a shame.

Diamond Hill Country House

Disappinted

Reviewed By Shirley M

We chose the Diamond Hill Country House for a stop over as it had single rooms available. Maybe we were just unlucky - the rooms were very basic, rather cheerless and chilly and the room at the back of the house was small, dark and overshadowed by the bank right outside the window. It also seemed a bit damp. In its favour - room rates are very reasonable and we had a warm welcome.

Lovely owners but hostel vibes

Reviewed By 182avrilb

The overall place is lovely but the family room is definitely not kid friendly. Very steep stairs which are dangerous for adults let alone kids and the bathroom is not beside the room and lots of hairs in the bath. Rooms were cleaned but my property was moved around inappropriately for example my toothbrush “eh hello were in a pandemic”No mask wearing from owners which encouraged other travellers to also take there’s off. And the lady was walking around chatting to everyone with no mask and then serving us breakfast with the same hands she used to blow her nose right in front of us. It’s definitely more of a hostel vibe and I honestly couldn’t wait to leave. Do not go with a family.
