Welcome to Aratinga, your haven of peace and tranquility on Ilha Grande. Our guest rooms and chalets are built in harmony with the verdant Atlantic rain forest. All of our guest rooms and chalets are simple and cozy, but we are sure you will agree that they are comfortable and very cozy. They are furnished with solid timber beds, with a top quality inner spring mattresses, latex pillows and quality, imported bed linen. Rooms are appointed with A/C, ceiling fan, LCD TV and DVD player, a bar fridge for your personal use, and all rooms have a sparkling clean, modern bathroom. For those seeking peace and privacy, Aratinga offers double chalets and double rooms, the perfect personal retreat for nature lovers. We do not receive large groups, small children or smokers.
Welcomed on arrival and felt at home instantly. Rennie is an authority on the island. The breakfast is splendid, and extremely high quality, healthy and hygienic. Rotating cakes and good range of tea. Most importantly the food is clearly cooked with love. There is a daily afternoon tea, consisting of hot drinks, (more) cake and fruits, which is just perfect after spending a day exploring the island. The location couldn't be better- away from the main busy stretches of town but a very quick walk into the centre. Excellent local restaurants. Most importantly, the gardens are bliss as is the communal 'hut'. We made use of both daily - from light exercise to enjoying a drink in the hammock reading a book. We even ate a light dinner in the garden (bought some odds and ends from a nearby shop), and were provided with plates, silverware and wine glasses to top it all off! DVDs, beach towels, beach games all available to borrow. The staff members are the happiest we met in all of Brazil and credit must go to their hard and loving work. We had a slight issue with our room which was dealt with instantly and with care, and ultimately were provided another room without any issue at all. We miss Ilha Grande dearly and would simply not consider any alternatives were we to return - thank you Rennie and co. for a wonderful stay.

This is a very special place, made in heaven, on an isolated beach, in a beautiful garden, abd what makes it so special is the service you get from a very friendly staff who ends up being family ;) Go there while you can, this place is soon going out of reach !

When I booked at the Solar da Praia it was the beach front location that attracted me. I read some reviews that were a little off putting but booked anyway and I was very happy that I did. Firstly, the location is excellent, literally 5 steps from the beach and 100 meters from the arrival pier. There are shops, cafes and restaurants surrounding the pousada and noise is not a problem except for one disco at the other end of the beach that pounds out the heavy base music until 4am. Why the owners of the hotels in Abroao allow this, I don’t know. The reception that you receive is like meeting old friends again. We were welcomed immediately and made to feel like part of a family. This never stopped for our entire stay and they are to be congratulated for such first rate service. The reception area is like a comfortable living room in a house with big windows looking out in to the beach and soft chairs to relax in. Check in is easy and efficient with great advice about restaurants and excursions. We booked room 7 which is a medium sized double room on the first floor facing the ocean. Breathtaking view at all times of the day and one of the big attractions of this stay. A comfortable bed and small but clean bathroom with a good shower. A fridge in the room keeps your drinks cold and there is plenty of storage space. Some reviews mention the mosquitoes in the rooms and there are some of course. The island is 95% rainforest and the rooms have the original sliding windows that have gaps around the edges so mosquitoes can enter. However, the room had both blackout curtains and nets so, with a little help from towels, a reasonably secure night can be created. Of course, using repellent and fly spray also helps! Breakfast is heavenly, with a delicious selection of fruits, breads, ham, cheese, fruit juice, coffee and spreads that just keep coming for as long as you wish. All served in the covered garden area next to the building with a wonderful view of the ocean and boats arriving and departing. We weren’t in for a lot of the day with lots to do on the island but the tourist noise is minimal considering the amount who visit. In the evening there far less people and finding a restaurant is easy. Overall, it was a perfect stay and totally recommended for anyone looking for an authentic Ilha Grande experience.

All to the accompaniment of experienced guides.
Very nice relatively small B&B right at the beach boulevard in Abraao. Very helpful staff and nice tropical garden. The square crepes served in the restaurant in the evenings were also very tasteful!!

During our time in the most beautiful paradise getaway we had an excellent service here at viva la vida. The staff are extremely friendly, approachable and knowledgeable of the island and activities. The pictures on the page do not do this place justice, it's so much more beautiful than they show and everywhere you turn there is a little slice of heaven. The bars and restaurants here are wonderful and every turn has great service and a lot of English speaking Brazilians. If you come here you absolutely need to come for a few days and experience diving with the fish and relaxing on the most idyllic islands in the world. It's been my absolute pleasure to stay here! Thank you so much viva la vida. Clean 4/5 - The room was very freshly cleaned when we arrived, the sheets were smelling of lavender and felt very soft to the touch! Location 5/5 - The hotel is located extremely close (2 small roads - less than 600m) to the island beach/entrance but is tucked away in a beautifully quiet area. Hotel 5/5 - The room includes air conditioning as well as a ceiling mounted fan which coupled can make it exceptionally cool through the hot days! - Wi-Fi is included and has good speeds considering the remoteness of the location and the rooms have a simple TV. - The hotel offers a great breakfast included in the price and has wonderful service, the food is very Brazilian and has wonderful cakes, juices and fruits! The hotel has other amenities such as a shower near the entrance for washing off sand before going into the hotel as well as hammocks to lounge in upstairs. Service 5/5 The service was exceptional with extremely helpful staff, Wi-Fi was included and very good! The staff helped a lot with advice for the island and provided discounts and services with local agencies at great prices! If you're considering this hotel. Take my word for it and come! You won't be disappointed!

We absolutely loved this little pousada on the idyllic Ilha Grande. Located on a sandy street just a few hundred meters away from the ferry terminal (just behind the football pitch), this is a little piece of heaven. We had a nice room with private bathroom and breakfast buffet for only 70 reais! The room was somewhat small, but very clean and cosy, with a fridge and tv. Next to the rooms is a communal balcony, a great place to read during the evening. Very friendly staff, although they unfortunately only spoke portuguese. The breakfast buffet is excellent. A large choice of bread, cakes and fruits. The marmelade was always the same though. We can highly recommend this place. Ilha Grande is the closest thing you get to an affordable paradise island!
