Enjoy your stay in Samarkand!
We spent 3 nights here during our trip to Samarkand. We really loved our stay here. There are just a few rooms, so it's very intimate. As others have commented, the garden in the center of the property is absolutely lovely -- we spent several lazy afternoons reading and drinking tea here. Location is really great -- just steps away from the Tamerlane Mausoleum, and a pleasant 15 or so minute walk from the Registan. The breakfasts here (which include jams from the garden) were absolutely fantastic. We also stayed in for dinner one night -- vegetable soup, various Uzbek mezzes, and beef plot -- that was a real treat, and highly recommended. The women who run this property were very kind, helpful in arranging taxis, and engaging to talk with. Our only small complaints would be that the room was a little tight on space, and the property itself is not historical. Overall, however, we would highly recommend Antica to anyone heading to Samarkand.

Jaloladdin and his family has been running this handsome Khiva B&B for over 20 years since his parents started it with only 2 rooms. It now offers 7 highly sought-after rooms, located right within Itchan Kala, the old citadelled city. Because of his father's profession as a fresco painter, the family's B&B has been lovingly decorated like a traditional jeweled palace. Our room had amazingly beautiful painted ceilings on both the bedroom and the balcony that overlooked the Itchan Kala walls. We enquired beforehand and Jaloladdin arranged a wonderful sunset dinner on their rooftop that offered panoramic views of Khiva rivalling that of nearby Terrassa restaurant, but the rooftop was exclusively and romantically our's that night! The local Khivan dishes served were sublime (Khivan plov and pumpkin manti). Jaloladdin's recommendations of a local Khivan restaurant and the transfer to Nukus were also perfect. The privilege of staying with this hospitable family while visiting Khiva comes highly recommended!

Our hotel consist 8 rooms in 2 floors. Hotel issued in the national style. We welcom guests salutatory tea and a warm attitude of the personnel. We will be glad to see you in our hotel.
We had 3 nights in our own room with an en-suite bathroom. The room was small but clean and perfect for the price. We were lucky enough to spend some time getting to know the manager Aziz and his father. They were really helpful and very nice people. The father provided pickup and drop off at the train station, taxis into town and a day trip to Urgut all at reasonable prices, a family run business. We looked forward to the nice breakfasts in the morning and walked to the major sites. Well recommended hostel. Best of luck Aziz!

Sakura is very small inn. Mostly designed for backpackers. Our aim is to provide them with comfort and reasonable price.
It was a bit difficult to find Sakura Inn as the name is only stated at the entrance door, easy to miss. Our cars were parked behind the building. A steep wood stair leads up to the reception where one meets the boss of the house, a lovely cat! I had the biggest room which had a large bed, bathroom with bathtub, aircon, very quiet room guaranteeing a good sleep, clean. There is a book shelf with books in several languages which travelers left there, including travel guides for Uzbekistan. My only complaint concerns the towels, a bit small size and not fluffy. Breakfast was very basic, boiled eggs, bread, jam. The owner speaks English. All in all I can recommend it for persons who can climb the stairs, and are willing to remove their shoes before going up the stairs. The cost for 1 night in the biggest room was 20 bucks. Restaurants are nearby, there is even a little park in front of the place.

Our entry and check-in process was recorded by a videographer without our permission. This is unacceptable and even an offence. On objection we were told the clippings would be deleted, but who knows! The rooms are basic, decent for the cheap price, but not comfortable. Beds are creaky, upholstery is gaudy. Housekeeping is pretty shoddy. They do not replenish toiletries or provide water in rooms or replace used glasses. We had to ask them several times for water and carry bottles back to our rooms. There are no elevators so to drag a heavy suitcase all by yourself is a challenge. Of course the staff did not help us, but were happy to help the other 'white' customers. This is one thing we (brown-skinned) faced throughout our travel through Uzbekistan. The only saving grace is the breakfast spread. This family-run place is suitable only if you are travelling light and on a budget, and can ignore cold behaviour.

I and my family stayed at the hotel for a week. The hotel is located in Yunusabad which is close to landmarks like the Amir Temur Square, the japanese garden, TV tower, etc. Being new, the hotel is spankingly fresh and the facilities are great. We had rooms facing the TV tower, and the lit up tower is a nice view in the evenings. They serve a very decent breakfast, and there is a 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. restaurant for other meals. Staff is accommodating and pleasant. A special mention of Jasur, Director, who helped us with the bookings and the rooms, gave us tips on the best restaurants to visit, checked train ticket availability for our travel to other cities and was a very considerate, helpful and friendly host. Shaxjod at the front office not only acted as our interpreter whenever we needed to explain to our taxi driver where we wanted to go, but also acted as an informal travel coordinator, arranged for our transportation and managed our trip to the Chimgan mountains, and guided us to the key places within Tashkent. He is a very enthusiastic, friendly and obliging person who enriched our experience of Tashkent.

Probably best option for a private room in Tashkent. Family run guesthouse in a quiet street close to famous Chorsu market and metro stop. Lots of affordable places to eat nearby. Friendly english speaking owners greet you with a hot tea and serve excellent breakfast in a green courtyard. Area is quiet, rooms are immaculate, beds are comfy, sheets are soft cotton, good sleep is guaranteed. As hostels are not best value in Tashkent I would strongly recommend this stay.

Used this heritage hotel as part of a group tour. Well located for sightseeing. Staff very helpful and friendly. Room reasonable size but a bit dated, generally OK except beds are firm. Wifi in room. Hot water a bit hit and miss as regards pressure and consistancy. Tip: 3 digit safe code not four as almost everywhere else I have stayed. Breakfast OK but not great. No lift but porters willing to help. OK for a short stay.
