Called Sørlandet, Norway's South Coast is known for its rocky coastline, its whitewashed houses and its idyllic archipelago. This warmest area in the country draws many resdents for a summer holiday. Kristiansand, the biggest city here and fifth-largest in all of Norway, has many lovely beaches, a very good zoo (Norway's most visited attraction) and a number of historic buildings. These date from the period of the city's 17th-century founding and are located in Posebyen, the old town area.

Hovden Fjellstoge is located at the top of Hovden in the Setesdal Valley, 2,7 km from the village next to the Vidmyr nature reserve and the river Otra. Accommodation is provided in comfortable rooms or cabins. We take pride in serving homemade food inspired by local traditions. During summer there is easy access to the mountain, and several marked summer routes. Other summer favorites include fishing, golf and mountain biking. In the winter season cross-country skiing is available right by Fjellstoga, and alpine skiing is just minutes away with complimentary ski bus.
Spent 1 night here now, over 20 years since my last visit. Tremendous lift in quality in all aspects. This is still a reasonably priced hotel, so it felt like a bargain! The new rooms include a complete kitchen if you feel like cooking, but we chose a superbly prepared dinner with locally fished trout and the breakfast was lovely, varied and rich. Very nice and friendly staff too.

The inn can provide overnight accommodation for ut to 48 people, and offers guests both hotelrooms, familyrooms and apartments. The rooms are of very high standard with tiled bathrooms, cable-TV, wireless Internet and breakfast is included. Grimstad Vertshus curently offers some of the town`s most affordable accommodation and enjoys a central location in welcoming surroundings. The inn is in walking distance from the city centre.
We booked a room from Verthus&Kro today and I am happy for that. The location is excellent, the welcoming by the host was super warm, our room is very clean and the atmosphere here is cosy and warm. We were driving from Stavenger to Oslo, but the strand road was very boaring, that is why we just stop driving at Grimstad. And I am very glad for that! This cute little town is so lovely and definatelly worth for staying. This hotel located just beside E39 road. And here is free parking, too. It was very easy to come here. I highly recommend this lovely hotel. Breakfast included.

A wonderful resort on the very south coast of Norway in truly idyllic settings. Great for families and friends, and meeting and events.
We checked into our 4-bedroomed house to be greeted with a welcome note and chocolates from the resort which was a great indicator of the level of service we would expect. The house was spotlessly clean with lovely crisp white bedding, towels and shower gel/soap etc. All 4 bedrooms had blackout blinds, were en-suite, had individual key card locks and the doors were almost sound proof so this is ideal if you are thinking of coming with another family or colleagues, plus there was an extra general downstairs toilet. The restaurant was not open as its out of season (July/Aug I think) however it can be booked for groups - drinks, postcards and ice creams etc could be ordered from the bar area and taken on the lovely terrace area overlooking the fjord. The nearest town was about 15 mins’ drive with a Rema1000 and a Vinmonopolet, so it’s advisable to take all your food and drink with you, the kitchen is not massive but sufficient, plus there is an outdoor type shed with key to store everything else. With the stay comes a free day pass into Sørlandsbadet which all the family loved. We did not hire a boat from the resort but if you are a keen fisher then they have all the equipment you can possibly need, plus a full fish kitchen so it’s great for the children to get involved, our children fished outside our house which was perfect (although if you have young children I suggest bringing life vests so they are safe around the water’s edge and gives you a little more price of mind) or you can ask to be away from the water’s edge and nearby the children’s play area. There were also smaller football nets and a volley ball net which the children loved (the grass was a little long and within less than half an hour the resort had cut it – great service!) The resort was full but as most of the guests were fishing and were out all day it was very peaceful, there were a few other families around making it a little more social for the children. Cars can off load outside most of the houses then are required to move to the car parks which makes it safe for children to play outside. Outside there was a table, chairs and small BBQ, utility room with ironing board and iron etc and great to store your luggage, the rubbish areas were set up well too making it easy for you to recycle. A great place to stay and very flexible as we had 8 in one house and another couple hired one of the smaller apartments (still to the same standard). Overall a beautiful few days and if travelling with children don’t forget the life jackets, paddle boats, fishing rods and football etc. We hope to return very soon

Stopped for a night and dinner with bikers from NAF MC Oslo. The hotel is operated by people with passion for taking great care of their guests, Every employee we encountered was helpful, kind and professional.

I stayed in Arendal one night, and was very happy with the hotel. I'm sensitive to cleanliness and vibes, and felt it was a very clean and calm place. The bed was super comfortable, and I had a window where lots of light came in to my room, which I love. Not all rooms are turned towards the light, though. But I was lucky. For me, this was perfect. Affordable and clean, and everything you need for one night, no more no less. The standard is cheap, but cleanliness and comfort is most important to me, and for this they scored 10 out of 10. I would book in the same place again if I was going back.

Pris: 1200 NOK for to personer, inklusive frokost.

This is it, look no further. Got into room 205 after check in with most polite receptionist. Explaining this and that, and we felt must welcome. Huge room, totally clean, and a nice message from Alexandra that we could contact her in case we where not satisfied. 5 star in my book, or King Kong?
