Hotel Praza Quintana

A charming hotel located in the Plaza de la Quintana, 20 steps from the Cathedral. From where you can hear the Berenguela bell, the most emblematic of the Basilica, from the window of your room and look closely at the details of the facades Carved in stone from a different perspective. We offer you a privileged stay in the city. The building where we are located is equipped with the latest technology so that you can rest at home, even with a complimentary tablet so you do not have to travel with your own. In addition, you can have breakfast when you want, as you have a buffet 24 hour breakfast. Did you think we could not offer you anything else? You will also have a free minibar in your room.

Noise, noise, and more noise.

We thought it unusual that the windows in the room had three layers (2 glass, one wood) to dampen outside sounds. It wasn’t enough!! A nearby stage was being broken down heavy trucks backed up a narrow alley over night, backup alarms on the trucks continually sounding, men screaming, hammering, children screaming (??), this at 2 in the morning. I heard arguing in the hallway between desk clerk and other guests. In the morning, the clerk asked us “Was there anything INSIDE the hotel that disturbed you. “. It was a ‘we are not responsible for your crappy experience’ question. The bottom line? $150 nightmare experience. WE ARE NOT HAPPY. . . .

Amazing and a nice historical hotel!

The place is really fantastic and a true rustic and romantic experience, if you take into consideration that it is a 210 year old building. The staff is extremely helpful and very attentive at all times, making your stay really comfortable. Now, if you mind being less noisy than average and understand that the nature of the building, with its wooden floors, makes it easier to hear furniture being moved and people walking in high heels, your stay will surely be a pleasant one. Breakfast was great and from what I hear, they also have great lunch and dinner options. Will definitely stay there again.

Next door to the hotel is a very friendly bar, where you can take breakfast. Again friendly service. Ten to Fifteen mins walk into the old town.

Nice Hotel on El Camino

Reviewed By RodneyB399

We stayed here after hiking El Camino. It's about a 15 minute walk from Santiago Cathedral, and you'll pass it as you come through town on El Camino, which means you'll have to backtrack if you stay here after your hike. Not a big deal, especially after you've walked so far already. The hotel was clean and the rooms were nice. The breakfast was simple but had everything I needed. Coffe, juices, meats and cheeses, breads, fruit, cereals and milk, teas, and a wonderful chocolate brownie type cake. The breakfast is in the back of the restaurant. There are also many places to eat and shop nearby. Look for the hotel sign as it's part of one of the city strips rather than a stand alone building. Nice little place.

Good value for money

We were there in low season and the price was very convenient. Especially considering that the location was just perfect: 5 minutes walk to the cathedral and main square. The room was comfortable and very warm, it had a nice view and a good bathroom with toiletries. Many cafes and restaurants close by. What we didn't like, of course, is the lack of lift if you get a room on the third floor, but that's not unusual in budget places in Europe.

Casa Celsa is a small hotel above a nice cafe. It is family owned and is very clean and neat. The Cathedral of Santiago is only 50 meters to the north. The third floor rooms have wonderful views of the plaza below and the Cathedral. Rooms 31 and 32 are especially nice. Actually, all the rooms are very nice. We have also stayed on the top floor and although there is a low ceiling the views are nice. We have stayed here several times and we love the facilities and the staff. The only negative is that there is no lift so if stairs are a problem this might not be for you. Otherwise, we think it’s one of the best places to stay at the end of your Camino.

We arrived late. They sent a message and talked us through how to get into the hotel and our room. Very helpful in the morning as well. The room is typical for this style of hotel. Comfortable, with a/c. Not fancy, but what you need. Typical breakfast. Now my top pick for short stays in Santiago.
