One of Germany’s biggest and best-known resorts, Bavarian Alpine village Oberstdorf is popular with families year round. It’s home to Heini-Klopfer-Skiflugschanze, the world's second largest ski-jumping hill (and site of the famous "agony of defeat" ski-jump wipeout clip from ABC's Wide World of Sports). Nearby are the ski areas of Nebelhorn, Kanzelwand/Fellhorn and Kleinwalsertal.

We just spent a lovely few days over Christmas at this hotel. The place itself is quite magical, joverlooking a small lake and snow added to the fairytale atmosphere. We had a large comfortable room and access to pool and wellness center. Everywhere was spotless and the design is modern yet very cosy. Dinner and breakfast were a real treat with a large variety of dishes changing everyday. Staff spoke good English though most notices and leaflets were in German. Lots of skiing slopes a few minutes away by car. We would definitely be back!

Excellent hosts with lot of attention to detail and very knowledgable in food, wine and liquors. Great selection of wines. New rooms and suites with open heart for dog owners while not punishing guests without affinity to dogs. Private sauna was fantastic. I will visit Kuehberg again!

We needed a one night stay on our way to Italy and booked gasthof Petra for two adults and two children. We got a family room with a bath where the drain didn't work properly and no door. And the room had no curtains. The madrases where the best we had ever slept on. When we checked out we were charged 33 euros extra for the kids even though they were on the original booking confirmation and being 8 and 9 years old they needed no extra crip. Will not recommend this place.

The review is related to the restaurant rather than the accommodation. We had lunch here for 2 days while on our lunch break during skiing lessons. The portion sizes were huge but the food was bland and lacked any depth. However the lady who served us was very good and friendly, she spoke to the chef about my wife's gluten allergy and provided good options hence I've given 2 stars rather then just 1.
