Idyllic scenery, majestic sea life, a…pirate cemetery? Surreal, serene Nosy Boraha was a once a retreat for some of history’s most notorious pirates, many of whom are buried here. The skull and crossbones-marked tombstones are among the Madagascar island’s most popular attractions. Equally attractive are the opportunities to sight amorous humpback whales, who migrate to the surrounding waters during their July to September mating season. Hiking, cycling, and reef-snorkeling round out the charming island’s appeal.

After a log travel accross Sainte Marie and a boat to Nttes you reach shaggy bungallows with hardly any comfort. The owner is an unhelpful arrogant Frenchman. The prices are twice the surrounding places. No beach. Dirty nothing. The worst place I have visited ever.

This place really deserves its name. It simply is a paradise that makes you feel at easy from the start as you get your welcome drinks. The Bungalows are 3 meters from the turquoise water and cleaned every day. Warm water for showering and safety box included. The food is delicious and always fresh. There is however also the possibility to eat at restaurants that are 15 minutes away. You can rent a scooter to travel the island for a reasonable price as well! We'll definitely be back!

Somewhat primitive some might say but it was a "bullseye" on our travel to Madagascar! This is a fantastic accommodation on an absolutely beautiful island! OK there is electricity every now and then but the bungalow is right on the beach. In fact, the lack of electricity / internet was liberating. The island is car free and not big so to walk around and meet nice people and we happened to run into a rather long snake (boa - no poison) and lemures are in the trees so this is definately a place to where I hope to return. The "landlady" (Marika) will always be at hand if you need it!

A fuir!
