We reserved and paid for the hotel already but due to traffic and a lot of block roads we couldn't arrive on time. We arrived at 23:30 and You could call the night watchman as the number was on the door. We called and finally someone arrived at the door. He opened the door and said we don't have people working anymore so I can't help you. We said we already reserved and paid and its middle of the night. He told us he doesn't care. He proclaim that he is the boss. He was super rude, ok we arrived late but no need to be rude and if we couldn't check in he could said which hotel we could go . So i would say worst hotel, and i would never go back

This was our second stay - this time just overnight en route from the Netherlands to Italy. The position is super, and its really dark and quiet at night. The rustic chateau is delightful and a lot of thought has gone into individual themed decorations for each room. Service is friendly and accommodating. Continental breakfast is very adequate. Really good value.

I booked Les Hirondelles when attending a wedding in nearby Forbach. The location is extremely convenient, right off of the autoroute. The home is comfortable and charming, each room has a lot of character and makes you feel "right at home." The stars of this lodging are the owners Philippe and Christiane- welcoming, warm, flexible, interested. I literally felt that I was staying with my favorite relatives. Although breakfast is the only meal on offer (and it is really nice), Christiane offered to make me a choucroute garnie for 20 people. I was hoping to share the local cuisine with the wedding couple and their family on the night after the wedding- Yazidis from Iraq who recently moved to Forbach to be closer to their family members in Germany. I tried to refuse, too much work, etc... but she insisted and it was amazing. I am a chef and asked for chopping board and peeler to make the salad as all of this was going to the wedding family's home as a picnic, Christiane immediately offered to use her professional machine to cut the cucumbers and whipped up a great vinaigrette. The point is not the food, it is the spirit of generosity and friendliness. Even the other guests at our communal breakfast table were interesting and friendly. I brought with me another refugee from Syria who currently lives in Augsburg. He also said he felt that we were staying with our friends. A wonderful experience.

Booked this for my parents - they were completely delighted. The place itself is so beautiful and charming, made with love and all the attention to every single detail. But most importantly, they were impressed with the warmest welcome from the hosts and their ongoing care and support. Again and again THANK YOU Chantal. We were blessed to have you.

We knew we were going to have a unique experience and the boat did not dissappoint. The room was fine but we were a little unlucky that the weather was so hot, making the metal boat difficult to cool down!! However, the owner and staff were charming and the breakfast was excellent.

We had a wonderful stay. We were travelling back from Switzerland with a small baby and needed an overnight stop. The suite we booked was a bargain and meant we could put babe down and still stay up - always a bonus when travelling with small children. Kitchenette was well equipped (again - good with a small person) and we managed to grab a take away pizza from the local place which was great. Nice simple French breakfast and plenty of space to park. It was a little away from the motorway but a lovely (if winding) road. Would definitely stay again.

1 They didn’t tell me when I booked that the restaurant would be closed. 2 Dreadful smells in the area. Bad sewage I think. 3 Smallest bath/shower room I’ve ever seen. 4 Toilet so small I couldn’t sit down and close the door.

Le Manoir is located in the tiny village of Alaincourt-la-cote just to the east of the A31 between Metz and Nancy in the Lorraine district of north east France. The actual village is so small that it does not have a shop with the nearest town with a restaurant a few kilometres away at Delme. The upstairs room is a very generous size with refurbished bathroom area, however, the floor mounted air conditioning unit is very noisy and disturbing on a hot night. Breakfast is not till 9.00am which may be a bit limiting if an early departure is required. Wifi was poor to non-existent. Hosts were warm and friendly with a reasonable level of English. Otherwise Le Manoir provides an interesting option for a pleasant stop-over.
