I stayed 3 nights in this hotel with a walking group (Exodus). The location amidst vineyards is attractive but about 30 mins drive to the nearest town. Reception staff mostly spoke no English and were pretty unhelpful. The overall impression in the new wing where our rooms were was of an old people's home. The first room I was given was a disabled room with grubby tiles all down one wall, a disabled toilet and shower with no bath. I asked to move and was given a slightly better room with a bath but the decor was all dark brown and dark green so very dismal. Only the toilet was partitioned off from the room so it would certainly not be suitable for sharing with someone you didn't know very well. The long corridors (ramps) to the rooms are floored in stained grey plastic: very institutional. The old building was attractive and the restaurant was OK.

Quinta do Bosque gives you welcome to the Douro! Located just 2 km from Mesao Frio and with an area of 4 hectares, the country house surrounded by the vineyards and the woods, is the ideal place to relax and get to know the Region of Douro Valley. With an outdoor pool overlooking the landscape and several outdoor spaces inside the farm, you can enjoy fantastic moments of leisure and rest.
This villa is just awesome - the location, the view, the lovely touches and attention to detail by the team! The breakfast offered literally everything you need with super fresh and high quality ingredients! The dinner was a three course menu and honestly better than in lots of restos! Christiano and his team were awesome hosts in a stunning location. Offering way more services than expected and needed ? they helped us also with local recommendation ans vineyard tours. We would have loved to stay longer and we’ll definitely come back to this wonderful and relaxing place!

Casa de Canilhas is a traditional Portuguese Manor House, situated in Douro Valley, world-wide Patrimony, with a fantastic view over the Douro River, between the vineyards were the Porto wine is produced. A real paradise for your senses. Check for yourself!!
Nice location with the view on the Douro. It was to cold to swim outside but we believe that in summertime it’s a great location to have a swim. While in the pool, the view must be beautiful. Breakfast was on the room but was very nice. Presented in a basket it had everything we needed inside. Fresh orange juice, coffee, bread, eggs,…. (at arrival you have to select what you want as breakfast) classical furniture (very nice in its portugese style), good bed and good shower.

Mansion remarkable and impressive century XVIII, traditionally regarded as the most representative of the noble houses of the Douro, with its interiors resplendent memories of glorious times, keep in its silence , the secrets and history of the family that lived here ever since. With its romantic gardens, leisure areas, swimming pool, and other indoor and outdoor places, the Casa das Torres de Oliveira invites you to be charmed and enjoy all of its history and moments. Implemented in an area of 30 hectares, the vines produce not only port wine, but also table wines, whites and reds, traded under the designation of Consensual and Sedinhas. The Mansion comprises very comfortable bedrooms and living rooms. The furniture includes excellent works of art that celebrate seasons and motions in the history, culture, customs and traditions of its family and region. The Solar, with its private chapel, is located in the Douro Valley, near the village of Mesao Frio, one of the best preserved in the region. Is also near the town of Peso da Regua, the capital of Port wine. The property lends itself to longs and beautifull walks on foot, from we can appreciate the great horizons of the Douro Valley. The region offers good opportunities for hunting, fishing and water sports, and also the contact with the all activities linked to wine production and Tasting Wines DOC and OPORTO.
Set in a village high up above the River Douro and surrounded by steep-sided vineyards and with views down to the river and up to mountains, this mansion is a very special place to stay. The building and furnishings are exquisitely authentic. You could be forgiven for thinking you had travelled back in time 200 years or had stepped on to a Portuguese period drama film set. I concur with all of the positive reviews on here and my personal photos look just like the ones posted here so rather than bore you, I’m going to tell you about the secret passage and Sónia. Secret passage? Really? Yes! Next to our bathroom door was the door to a cupboard. I noticed that there was another door at the back of that cupboard, reminding me of “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.” Intrigued, I squeezed past the spare bed and went through that door into a bigger, dark room. There was yet another door to my left. Opening this one revealed a heavy red curtain. I parted the curtain and, WOW, found myself in the mansion’s chapel, complete with wooden carving and a gilded altar. We’ve stayed in many a place over the years but a secret passage from the bedroom to our very own private chapel was a whole new thing for us. The star of the Torres de Oliveira experience is without doubt Sónia who couldn’t have been more helpful. In fact she was so omnipresent from morning til night that we started to think that she might have been one of triplets. Thank you, Sónia, for your commitment. One last word to those of you readers who prefer to stay in a modern, state-of-the-art hotel with fast, reliable Internet and a TV in every room: this place is not for you. This is an old mansion with character and atmosphere and, as such, is very good value.
