Located at the foot of Helvellyn, near the shores of Lake Thirlmere The 16th Century Kings Head Hotel enjoys an idyllic setting in the heart of The Lake District National Park. The Kings Head offers two unique dining experiences - with Fine dining in the award winning St Johns Restaurant or Traditional Bar Dining, a contemporary bar lounge and delightful en-suite bedrooms are traditionally furnished with views of the surrounding fells.
Absolutely first class hotel. Staff and management could not be more helpful and the accommodation and food for the price was truly amazing. Room was small but clean and the housekeeping staff were spot on. Me and a good friend had an enjoyable stay for a couple of days hiking some of Cumbria best picks.

A characterful country inn and bar/restaurant with open fires for the winter months and sunny beer garden for the summer. Families, walkers and Dogs welcome.2014 brings 20 Newly Refurbished Rooms
We stayed just outside Keswick over half term. We stumbled on the Coledale Inn by chance and booked for Sunday Lunch. We had a fantastic meal and ate there again later in the week. Service was fast and very friendly. The portion sizes are vast (and we like our food). The food is very flavorful. Dog friendly and lots of tables inside and out. Parking a bit tricky when busy. Genuinely a great spot to eat if you are in the Keswick area.

Glaramara is an independently owned hotel at the southern end of the Borrowdale Valley. Its location is particularly striking with commanding views of the local fells. It is ideal base for a walking holiday with easy (car-free) access to some of the best routes and well-known mountains in the Lake District, including England’s highest mountain, Scafell Pike. It is ideally placed for a second night stop on the Coast to Coast Walk. We have twenty five double/twin en-suite rooms and eight single en-suite rooms. Facilities include a spacious residents lounge and bar each with log fires, a restaurant and a purpose built function-room known as the ‘Fell View Suite’. Wi-fi via fibre broadband is available for no additional charge, allowing you to keep connected for pleasure and/or business as well as entertained whenever you choose. Whilst we primarily welcome individual guests, families and small groups, our location, grounds and facilities make us a perfect venue for exclusive or non-exclusive event hire both for pleasure and business purposes. We have hosted many large groups, conferences, wedding receptions, family celebrations and other social occasions. We are ‘dog-friendly’ with a small number of rooms allocated for use, subject to conditions. Our bar is open to non-residents so if you are staying or living in the area please feel free to come in. Tea, coffee, snacks and light meals are, also, available to non-residents. We look forward to welcoming you.
This accommodation is more like a conference centre than a hotel. The room was a good size but the bed uncomfortable. The 7:30pm dinner service for all guests is annoying, we wanted to eat earlier but couldn’t. The reception staff member on check out, a man who could barely bother talking to us was unhelpful. We had paid for a packed lunch in advance but he was adamant it was not included so we had to pay. We have since clarified it was included. I wouldn’t stay here afain, not worth the price.

The Royal Oak at Keswick is a welcoming pub offering great home-cooked food and accommodation in the vibrant market town of Keswick, which is situated on the lakeside North of Derwentwater in Cumbria's Lake District. The Royal Oak at Keswick offers a pleasing blend of pub, restaurant and hotel rooms with a well stocked bar and a varied menu of freshly prepared produce and seasonal ingredients.
Having been for several meals and beer at the Royal Oak on previous trips, we decided to stay for a couple of nights while we hiked in the area. Overall we had a really good stay. The breakfasts we had were all very good and with a wide variety including eggs benny, full english and salmon. The Sunday Lunch was very good. Lots to eat and all cooked very nicely. Beer selection is good and we had a few lovely pints. And no tv's in the pub! The twin rooms were good but small. The beds are very very close together. So close that if my wife walked in I think she would think I was cheating on her. That was the only down turn of the stay.

Very friendly staff and amazing views . However this is a 2 to 3 star boarding house type hotel charging 4 to 5 star hotel rates. I paid £175 a night and expected so much more. £110-£120 a night our stay would have been good. £175 a night just left s bad taste in the mouth. When I gave balanced feedback on booking.com the hotel replied with a very sarcastic and immature response.

What a gorgeous BnB so close to the main town centre in Keswick. Right from the start the communication by the owners, Paul & Vanessa was amazing!! When we arrived, we arrived to a super friendly welcome, shown to our room by Paul. We were in room 4. Too floor with stunning outlook's. The room so was so comfortable. Spacious and loved the wee extras it came with. Pre ordered breakfast each night, which made it super easy. Breakfast was lovely. So much to pick from and great quality. Vanessa was super helpful and friendly. Free parking on street, 5 min walk to the hustle and bustle of Keswick. We will ABSOLUTELY be re-booking Dolly Wagon. Thank you both, also lovely to meet Willow X

Hotel is dated, though the rooms aren't too bad.Breakfast slow and looked like it had been on a hot plate for quite a while. Limited parking so had to use a public car park down the road that was quite expensive.

We stayed for one night whilst visiting friends in Keswick and we couldn’t have asked for more. Room 10 was tastefully decorated, clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. The bed was so comfortable. The breakfast was one of the nicest we’ve had. We will definitely return. Quite a few stairs up to room 10 but that was fine for us.

We have walked past here on many occasions, but this was our first stay. The lady that greeted us was very smiley and happy and told us everything we needed to know. The room was top notch, comfy bed lovely views of the fells from the bedroom and bathroom, very clean and everything you wanted was in there. The service from the barman and the lady (they seemed to be the only 2 doing everything) was great. They we both pleasant, happy and had a good sense of humour. The food was very good, restaurant standard food. The breakfast was excellent and the service professional. We had a packed lunch which again was excellent - the best we had on our trip. We can't rate it and especially the staff enough.
