Welcome to Hotel Graphy Nezu square in the heart of a historical part of Tokyo, yet only a short train ride away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
It was my first time staying at Hotel Graphy in over 5 years and it's still a wonderful experience. The staff are super and the small touches like daily welcome drink, fully stocked communal kitchen, roof lounge, etc. we still great. My one minor complaint is that the breakfast was much better in the past. I would previously go just for the breakfast when I was in the area.

Excellent location 3 min walk from the Hakone Rail Station. Plenty of parking spaces if you drive. Stayed in a spacious semi-Japanese room with a lovely cypress bath running natural hot-spring water on the balcony. Comfy bed, clean room with good facilities. Both public and private onsens available in a bush natural environment. Yummy traditional Japanese breakfast and full course dinner plus free drinks or beer. Nice view in the breakfast room with a water wheel in misty landscape (from the hot spring water underground). Friendly attentive service, children friendly. V good value for the price.

We stayed at this hotel for my boss's b-day celebration, and this hotel met all my expectations. From the sanitation, cleanliness of the room, the tasty food they serve, the accommodating staff members, the huge onsen (public bath) with mist sauna, not to mention their private onsen, has all the amenities you will need, and most of all, the impeccable design of the hotel itself has impressed me a lot! This is definitely the hotel I will come back to and I will never get tired of staying in, especially in the summertime & winter season.

Lovely traditional hotel with great old world charm. The onsens in the hotel are definitely a plus as you can retire to your room after a session without having to endure the external elements particularly when it is snowing. Very responsive staff. As others have mentioned, the building is mainly of light structure and as such you can hear sounds from rooms around / above you. How loud it gets is luck of the draw with the other guests staying at the hotel at the same time. For us it was generally ok and the hotel experience outweighed this negative

The staff here were courteous and nice, and the place itself was well kept and really good! Unfortunately the dinner we had was not as good as what we came to expect from other ryokans. It wasn't bad, just not as good as we expected. The onsens were great, and the experience of having a private open air onsen in the snow is an unforgettable experience.

Featuring open-air hot spring bath and relaxation spa, Kinnotake Tonosawa is a beautiful ryokan in Hakone surrounded by water and bamboo trees. Our accommodation concept is based on a nation-wide famous story "Takemonogatari" from "Kaguyahime", a story of a woman who fell in love with the emperor but their love lasting only for a moment until she is sent to the moon. Kinnotake Tonosawa has free Wi-Fi, private parking and on-site bar with view. We also have business rooms at the basement floor. All rooms include a private bathroom equipped with bath tub with bath robes and slippers. Some rooms have a seating area with views of either mountains or garden. From our accommodation, Hakone Open-Air Museum is 3.6 km away and Hakone Gora Park is 4.3 km away.
Over the last 20 years we have stayed in about 10 different ryokan in Japan and what we’ve now realized is the experience offered is variable. As often the opportunity for an individual is rare, and sometimes a once in a lifetime experience, study carefully which ryokan you choose. Price does not protect you from an inferior experience! Now there are newly built ryokan which offer a service not so different from a ‘hotel’ in the city or urban area: a modern and spare Scandinavian or Southeast Asian atmosphere; no exchange at the entrance of your shoes for slippers or 下駄 (geta); a table and chairs style communal dining room for all your meals; a platform bed; once a day housekeeping service; and no garden to admire or place to walk and explore while in your yukata. Kinnotake Tonosawa offers the chance to enjoy a good meal and comfortable bed. The best feature is having a private open air bath of your own.

We did not stay at Manza Prince , but the sister hotel. The best part of the Prince Manza Hotel was the onsen. You get high sulphuric water with a breathtaking view of the mountain in Manza Onsen region. Best visit during winter. The experience was sublime!

I reserved a "Japanese room with Garden View" via booking.com for what I believed to be 3 people. When I arrived at reception, I was told I had only reserved for 2 and the additional person would be 15,000 yen + tax (about £120 in total). Be VERY careful what you book as we felt hard done by. The photos of this Ryokan give a false illusion as to what you are getting. We'd pictured rural Japanese mountain luxury with multiple indoor and outdoor geo-thermal onsen spas. Instead, the Ryokan is more like a 1960's travel lodge, just a stones throw from the rather ugly main high-street of Hakone-Yamote. It has one small outdoor and one slightly larger indoor pool (for men), but I couldn't comment on the female set up. The room was equally basic. At £350 per night for 3 people this does not represent value for money and I would not recommend. Only positive to mention is the staff, as ever in Japan, who were friendly, respectful and kind.
