Paradise. It goes by many names to many people; the Elysian Fields, Valhalla, the Garden of Eden or simply, Sri Lanka. Tucked away in this island, cocooned amidst a tapestry of emerald hues you will find a quiet haven, seemingly lost in time. Come experience a slice of paradise at Glenross Plantation Villa. Serenity abounds in our little sanctuary set in a lush rubber estate in Neboda, Kalutara. Amidst the tropical flora you will come across a colonial planter’s bungalow, standing as it has from ages past keeping watch over the changing seasons. Georgian windows, gables and stone walls handcrafted by Ceylonese artisans over 125 years ago blend seamlessly with touches of modernity and style while preserving the old world charm of our luxury villa in Sri Lanka.
My wife wanted to go to this place & I was pleasantly surprised hearing there's a 50%-off offer going on when she made the reservation. The location is just amazing, so is the building and the setting overall! It's just amazing!! The staff was also really friendly & caring. They were also kind enough to prepare a breakfast item that was not originally on the menu for me. The room did not have facial tissues, so we had to request one. Toilet tissue roll was also half-gone. We had to request the napkins as well for the breakfast although the cuisine needed napkins. There were two 5-course meals (we stayed one night full-board), the vegetables in all dishes were over-boiled and the soup - I literally burnt my tongue. I just kept these to myself instead of complaining, because this is a time everyone in the country is struggling. Tourism is one of the hardest-hit. I just felt happy as I'm in a way contributing to the country by taking this trip, though it is just one drop into a larger ocean... My patience went out of the window when the guy brought a full-size fried rice as the 'main course' for the 5-course lunch. I selected that as it was supposed to be a Thai rice, but there wasn't anything Thai in it - it's pretty much the same fried rice you can purchase from almost anywhere in Colombo for a buck or two. I don't know whether any of these things are intentional with the half-price package. After all, it is for a different market segment who might actually come looking for fried rice (no disrespect intended to anyone). I asked for the menu again - the name is delicately worded where you can legally argue that it's actually fried rice and it's the eggs that came from Thailand :-) This looks like a serious business and I don't know why they have to go this cheap. In any case, would like to pay 100% price and come back someday for a proper stay!

The Bungalow is a colonial building built in 1907. It nestles in the hills of Pantiya rubber estates.Originally built by an British planter, this bungalow has been fully refurbished, retaining its old world charm. Only one booking at a time is taken to ensure guests have the entire bungalow to themselves. Its comfortable and spacious bedrooms, extensive gardens with a swimming pool, magnificent views, interesting location near the south coast and the mild climate all combine to make The Bungalow an inviting property for families or friends.ONLY WELL BEHAVED PETS ALLOWED. STRICTLY NO PETS ALLOWED INTO THE POOL.
I traveled with my family. And i wanted an getaway from the rush and we were in for a treat. The place is very spacious, well maintained and super comforting. I liked the huge family room we got, large living area and furniture and the garden that's well maintained. The food and service was quite a treat. I loved Iresha's home cooked meals; yummy pudding and soup. Mostly I loved the place as it is free from all types of pollution, no noises, no emissions. I can't wait to get back for another getaway.

What a relaxing stay it was at the beautiful colonial bungalow tucked away on a small hilly area in the midst of a tea estate. The friendly staff with their warm & easy charm made me & my husband welcome as if we have known each other for many years. The food was out standing prepared with much care. The premises were maintained well & felt very safe. It was one of the best weekends we had. Cheers to Thebuwana!

We stayed at Gedara with the entire family of about 10 adults and 3 children. The bungalow is hidden away from the hustle and bustle of the city and the main advantage is the fact that it is only about an hour drive from Colombo. In comparison to some of the other options available, Gedara demands a high price. We would not have minded paying this high price if we were not disturbed on the second day by a party of 6, whom they had confirmed a day use package with lunch and use of the pool. Given the setup of Gedara, the whole purpose of staying there would be to have exclusivity of the property and not having to share with any outsiders. It defeats the whole purpose of staying at this place. The management should at no point compromise in this area. The staff were excellent and very helpful and always willing to go out of their way to make us happy. However, I must say that on the second day when the other party was at the premises, the quality of food we were served was well below par (compared to what we had on the first day) again underlying my argument that they should never agree to day use facilities and also offer the bungalow to another party. Make sure you check this before booking. I was informed that they would be coming and that they would be using a "cabana" and that we would not be disturbed, however since this is a house you will get disturbed. The bungalow itself is looking very tired and needs a refurbishment or makeover if they are going to continue charging the same prices. The doors on a lot of the bathrooms have been replaced and some broken. The outdoor pool was fun and a good size even for a family. Overall, this place needs an urgent makeover or else they wil not be able to continue charging the sae price. Mosquitos are a huge issue so take plenty of repellent!

It’s our second time in Sri Lanka, this time we stay 1 month and 1/2 so our visa expired and we had to go to Colombo for visa renewal. we travel by train from Colombo Fort towards Matara on the coastal line, which is really beautiful. The train was rather full so we decided to get off at Kalutara south. Although there are some 5 stars hotels, Kalutara is not a well-known touristic location like for instance Benthota or Mirissa, but it’s certainly worth a visit. At the railways station a tuk-tuk driver took us to this nice hotel, absolutely a good choice. we had a warm welcome by the owner Mr. Nelson and his son Nihal. All the staff is nice and friendly. Don’t expect night life. whet we enjoyed mostly was to talk to Mr. Nelson, a very interesting person who lived and worked for 13 years in Austria ?? this hotel is facing the ocean, so we have an amazing view from our room, spacious rooms with ac and fan, comfortable bed, they change bed-linen and towels every day. Great value for money. If you’re looking for a quiet place to relax with a private beach, we recommend this place. they also have a small swimming pool. They suggested half board so we had breakfast and dinner included: they cook delicious ? and fresh food, and they give a big quantity. we were very satisfied so we took also our lunches here. We only stayed 2 nights because we wanted to visit all the coast but we wished we could stay longer. The owner is building 3 new cabanas so we’re looking forward to come here again next year and stay in a cabane. Thank you very much to all of you, we will certainly come here again.

Petter's Beach Inn consists of four houses, 11 bedrooms (double and trippel - 8 with A/C, all with fan), 9 bathrooms with hot and cold water, one massage room, two livingrooms, two kitchens, two big terraces in first floor level, a nice restaurant, a swimming pool, a mini pool and a lovely garden. All is surrounded by a solid and beautiful wall with four marvelous gates. The Beach Inn is situated by a fantastic, long sandy beach with coconut palms - approx. 1 km from Kalutara town. The rooms and kitchens are clean and fully equipped. There are a lot of original paintings of famous Sri Lankan artists on the walls.
I am totally in love with this place and with Sri Lanka overall. Petter’s Beach Inn is indeed amazing and quite place, ideal for those who would like to experience tranquility, sun, ocean and amazingly tasty Sri Lanka cuisine on a budget. This was our second trip to Sri Lanka and only here we got the real understanding of this amazing island and its culture. Big thank you to Rupika her husband, lovely daughters and 2 dogs for making our stay unforgettable.
