Okay but could use some sprucing up

Although billed as a ryokan, this place is more like a motel. The carpets are stained, the hallways smelled of cigarette smoke, and the views are primarily of gravel pits along the river. The location is not very convenient, a long walk from the center of Iida, and, quite frankly, there isn't much to do or see in Iida. On the plus side, the staff were very friendly and welcoming.

Hotel

A traditional Japanese Inn with a welcome and stay at its best - thank you

Reviewed By johnkj

Stayed here backed in November 2017 - so apologies for late review - and will go back for a longer stay once we are able to travel again. This is a traditional Japanese Inn (Onsen) and hotel so you have to set aside what you think should be in a hotel and instead enjoy the experience. Cleanliness and service is first class the food is traditional Japanese cuisine and to be savoured and enjoyed Japanese style. The spa/bathing area - with fabulous views - is great and highly recommended but note men and women are segregated and pre-wash compulsory - some UK spas should take note! The spa water is natural and pumped from a hot spring over a kilometer underground! I made full use of the traditional gowns and shoes provided - different ones for different ocassions/uses. Take a trip to the mountains on the local bus and maybe catch sight of the snow monkeys - who appear to tolerate human presence rather than just be a mere tourist attraction. Overall a great experience that I wish to take again on a more extended stay - thank you.

Trip to IIda, Nagano ken Japan

Reviewed By engrjoey

Stayed at Yu-min for 7 days. I visited my mom who lives in Iida. The hotel is very clean. Which is expected since slippers and shoes aren’t allowed in the hotel and even in rooms. You Will walk around bare foot or wearing socks. The location is very accessible and near restaurants, recreational centers and convenience stores (coco’s (steak), joyjoy (karaoke) lawson, daiso, etc). It’ January but unfortunately, there’s no snow yet. My room doesn’t have its own shower so if you’re not familiar with onsen and Japanese bath houses, better look it up first. You should be comfortable walking around and showering naked. The onsen is nice, it’s never crowded. Lastly, the only challenge for foreigners is that the staff areN’t very good with english. But its nothing google translate can’t fix. Will definitely return to this hotel given the chance.

自然豊かで心が休まるお宿と気持ちのよい接客に感謝!
