I booked overnight accommodation to break up my 11 drive back to the U.K. from Switzerland. Unfortunately I got stuck in a traffic jam for three hours so was late arriving at 11pm, obviously pretty tired. The owner had locked up and gone to bed and no amount of door bell ringing or telephoning was going to get him out of bed. He left me stranded in the middle of nowhere but luckily I asked Siri and she directed me to a very nice Chateau in Nantilly where a pleasant and grateful host was happy to take my money.

This guesthouse/B&B is exceptionally clean, comfortable and elegant. The host Emmanuel Georges is extremely helpful and welcoming allowing us to take advantage of the delightful living rooms and beautiful gardens. The architectural jewel of Le Corbusier 'La Chapelle Notre Dame du Haute" can be seen from the garden and is a must visit in Ronchamp. Our kind host directed us to a superb local restaurant and provided us with a marvellous breakfast the following morning. This is the first review I have done but due to our marvellous time there I felt I wanted to share this experience.
"The house in the park" and it is what it says. A nice house. Four guest rooms and a wonderful garden- The breakfast kept the same pleasant level. If we were not on our way to our own summer house We would definitely stay home more days at the place, trying the dinner I have read they make upon request. Another time?

Considering we were the only guests the receptionist kindly came all the way to open the hotel up for us as we arrived early. Bed was good and bathroom clean and modern with a full breakfast of eggs, croissants and little wrapped things. We visited the chapel, a nearby bike ride and vestiges of the previous mining era. The restaurant Cook was superb, a 10-minute walk, and inexpensive.

We enjoyed the hospitality and dinner on the terrace. Claire had decided to cook for us on her day off as we arrived on foot from the small aerodrome nearby. We had a nice dinner and chat with Claire. The room was great, the only thing that was not perfect is the close road which is quite noisy. Kept the windows shut during the night (there is aircon if needed).

My husband and I have been staying at this hotel for one night on our way to Switzerland for 30 years now and we have seen a great amount of change over the years. It is fair to say that the owners have spent a lot of money upgrading the rooms and, although they are a bit on the small side, they are well appointed and have everything you would need for a short stay. During the week you will find quite a few business travellers staying here so you can expect really fast WiFi, so rare in other hotels of this category. As the hotel is located up a little mountain road, but just 8 minutes from the centre of Ronchamp, it is very quiet at night so you will sleep really well! The aspect of the place that brings us back is the food in the restaurant which we have always found to be excellent and very good value for money. You must try the Coquilles St Jacques Amoureux, they are fabulous. They have an extensive wine list too with wines to suit every palette and wallet. There are always plenty of local people in the restaurant, especially at the week end which is always a good sign. Breakfast has improved too with plenty of bread and croissants and you don't have to call someone to replenish the bread basket anymore!!!!! One thing you will not get at this hotel is a warm welcome when you arrive or any 'polite conversation' with the owners unless you persevere yourself. This time we arrived just at the start of dinner service and we were asked from the restaurant to help ourselves to the key from behind the reception desk! We find this sort of thing quirky and amusing, part of the character of the hotel. We love it and we will always be happy to come back here.

We stayed here overnight in June .We had not travelled this way for a while but had always found the rooms comfortable and the food excellent. There is also free garage parking. Our meal was better than we remembered. The home made bread and aperitif pastries were excellent as was the terrine of rabbit, fillet of beef and the dessert. The extensive cheeseboard as excellent too with a delicious marinaded goats cheese. The menu also included an amuse bouche, sorbet and pre-dessert! The coffee came with some lovely petit fours. It was not cheap ( however we found all French restaurants expensive ) but it was a real, if rather large treat! We will certainly visit again if we pass this way.

We had lunch at Chez Berthe‘s nearby & they recommended this place; then we went to check up on our boat trip on the Saone in June and they also recommended this place without us even asking! Needless to say, I‘ve got to pass this little jewel along to everybody else! What a find!
