Lovely character hotel with an up to date touch. Family run and owned since 2000. Bar / Restaurant / Function Suite / Accommodation. Specialized in Weddings and large party meals and dances. Meals served daily 12 til 2pm then 5 til 9pm, 7.30pm on a Sunday, although we are closed on a Monday and Tuesday lunchtime. Our Sunday Carvery is very popular therefore booking is essential. Afternoon Teas are served from 12 til 4pm, again booking is essential. Good friendly atmosphere throughout.
Not what it used to be - went for a carvery for the first time in ages and was quite disappointed. Vegetables were swimming in tubs of water and both them and the boiled/roast potatoes were clearly out of tins or packets - quite tasteless and poor texture. Kids meal was just processed stuff too - they could do a lot better. Service was friendly but not exactly great - had to ask for a kids menu twice and they were to bring bread/toast for us while we were waiting but it never showed up. We have been a few times over the years but left really disappointed and we are highly unlikely to return when you have such excellent and vastly superior alternatives available locally such as the Davron in Rosehearty. Shame.

The Saltoun Inn is a listed Georgian building situated centrally within the historic fishing town of Fraserburgh. Recently renovated, the building retains much of its original architectural features, making for a welcoming environment whether staying or visiting. The hotel offers 11spacious en-suite bedrooms whilst also offering a fully accessible disabled bedroom and free wifi throughout. Due to its central location, the hotel is ideally situated for exploring all of what Fraserburgh has to offer including the beautiful award winning sandy beach and lighthouse museum. With a non-smoking beer garden, an eclectic food and drink menu and atmospheric dining bar serving food from 7am until 11pm, the Saltoun Inn is the perfect retreat for the entire family.
Decided to go to the North of Scotland on a golfing/ancestry fact finding trip. We picked the Saltoun because of price, it's a 'Spoons and we haven't stayed in one before so we thought we'd give it a go. The room we had was teeny tiny (204) and we had to have a one way system round the room. Not sure why i had to have the smallest room when there were much larger rooms and I was staying for 3 days, but we did spend most of the time on golf courses/cemetery or in Spoons playing cards. Bed was comfy tho, we slept well! We had to leave the aircon on as the window did not open, which seems a bit daft to use up all that electricity when all i needed was a bit of fresh air. The bathroom was great, clean, excellent shower and fluffy towels. Food was a bit 'meh'. Edible...but only just. I had the pretend McMuffin on the first day and the next two mornings we headed to MaccyDs for real McMuffins. The drink however is very keenly priced and perfectly acceptable. I am curious tho as to why the carpet in our room was 1 inch short of fitting properly...

Findlay's Hotel offers eight tastefully decorated, spacious and comfortable rooms. All our rooms are en suite and include television and tea and coffee making facilities. Breakfast, to compliment your stay, is served in our bright, airy and beautifully decorated conservatory.
Arrived today for lunch - two couples. We were not asked for contact details on arrival as per COVID requirements.although there was a hand sanitiser station at the entrance. Staff were not wearing face coverings. The table was dirty and my wife asked for a cloth and had to clean the table herself although we were offered another table. Her chair was also covered in crumbs and there were peas on the carpets. Thank goodness the food was good as per usual, but the cleaning standards are well below requirements.

Family run country hotel - modern affordable en-suite rooms, next door to golf course and beach. Friendly well stocked bar attached to hotel.
Great little hotel with clean comfy rooms, en-suite bathrooms and a great bar downstairs. Probably the best little place to stay for the price on the east coast of Scotland. Great breakfast, friendly staff who even lent us their car for a day! Highly recommended.

The Tyrie Manse “Glebe House” built in 1842. A large house built of solid granite having Scottish slate roofs with leaded ridges, a semicircular tower and unusual sixteen pane sash windows, Glebe House is located next to Tyrie Church and is conveniently situated adjacent to the main A98 Road 4 miles West from Fraserburgh and Inverness (90 miles). The house enjoys almost 2 acres of granite walled gardens, woodlands, a sacred Cairn ideal for exploring or a leisurely walk in the grounds after a long day viewing the sights and sounds of the surrounding area. We offer quality Bed & Breakfast accommodation with evening meals and packed lunches, both available upon request.
6/25-26/2017 Gleb House nr Bushmills, Northern Ireland — Nick and Sylvia- Drove from Galway to Northern Ireland stopping in Londonderry. A great walled city--walls 20 feet thick. Gleb House is a large Georgian estate home in the countryside, 5 miles to Bushmills and 10 to Ballycastle. Large rooms, beautifully furnished in traditional furniture, finely decorated sitting room, dining room, entry hall, etc. Sylvia made beautiful strawberry scones. Nick was a wealth of information and loved to talk. He guided us to the Cellar Restaurant, on the diamond in Bushmill, for a fine dining dinner — we brought a bottle of wine back home and Nick helped us drink it. Get Nick talking about politics and you'll have an evening of entertainment. Dark Hedges from Game of Thrones nearby. Went to the Rope Bridge first on Monday--a good solid two mile hike...beautiful views over the Northern Ireland rocky coast. Then to "the most beautiful little harbor in the world" Balintoy Harbor. Beautiful. Then on to the Giants Causeway. Very disappointing after a mile down and back without seeing the geological bricks...pooped. Then discovered we can take the National Herritage bus down to the end and back for €2.00!!! Yeah!! Very interesting. Bonamargy Friary ruins 6/25 in Ballycastle, next to the Ballycastle Golf Club. Stopped also at Dunluce Castle ruins. Great views from the road. This is where this impregnable Castle, surrounded by water on three sides, ended its days, when one side of the cliff collapsed taking half the Castle, kitchen and 200 servants with it. Visited Marlborough Bay--an isolated and very narrow road to get there, but well worth the visit-would be fabulous for a picnic on a nice day. Had dinner at Central, a pub in Ballycastle. We did not enjoy the village of Bushmills much, but really enjoyed Ballycastle.
