Reviewed By Roberta JI can't recommend this pension enough. It is betifully decorated and the rooms are large comfortable and spotless. Our hosts were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The breakfast is outstanding - a wide range of local breads, meats, cheese and fish as well as cereals fruit and yoghurt. They have a lovely little bar and outside terrace. We breakfasted outside every morning!

Reviewed By Bogdan1245This hotel proposed on « booking.com » a special rate for Ukrainian refugees (it was actually the only reason why we choosed it). But we had the unpleasant surprise to find out that, according to the owner’s very particular «logic»… Ukrainian refugees who managed to leave Ukraine and are currently hosted by friends are not considered to be refugees anymore, and therefore cannot benefit from the special rate proposed by the hotel for Ukrainian refugees (!). Cherry on the cake, the hotel’s owner behaved as if WE (myself, my daughter and our temporary host) were the ones trying to cheat on him by asking for the hotel’s advertised special rate! We had of course all the official documents proving our Ukrainian refugee status, but he just didn’t care. Well, we didn’t want to spoil our weekend so we paid what he asked, the full rate for the room. Disgusting.

Lovely stay
Reviewed By Raoulr89We had a very good stay here for 2 nights. The place is run by a dutch couple. The building is a typical, lovely south German "house''. It is big but still has a nice and cosy living room feeling. Personnel and owners are very friendly and helpful. Because we staid 2 nights we received the Hochschwarzwald cart, it entitles you, among other things, a free ride with the cable car to the top of the Feldberg which is on a 10 minute drive with the car. The hotel has a beautiful surrounding and huge garden. From the garden you can see the top of the Feldberg. The rooms are really modern, not old fashioned as much hotel in the area. Bed was okay. Badroom was small but had everything we needed including a fine shower. COVID measures were properly observed, especially with the breakfast. No buffet but when checking in we received a list with everything available. You have to highlight what you want and they make sure it is served at the time slot you want breakfast. There is a reserved table per room, very efficient! There is also a self service bar at the hotel which works really well. Which such a nice garden and view a cold beer was perfect! A small downside, walking to the good restaurants in Feldberg is too far. You have to take the car (5 minute drive).

Reviewed By Richardthelionheart7And I thought a nice atmosphere in the restaurant, which was not "fancy" but did a buffet which suited myself and my son (as he could pick lots of what he wanted). It has a lovely sauna and shower. The location is better than the uphill bit of Feldberg but not perhaps so good as the downhill bit.

Reviewed By LauMaDeMeThe hosts are very welcoming, the vistas are great and the food is excquisite. We chose the rösti with salmon and the one with the 'rindermedaillon', which basically is steak. I asked for the cuison 'rare/blue' and the cook and his wive (who waits the tables) were delighted, always a good sign of the quality of the meat. And honoustly it did not dissapoint at all it was soooo good. Some negatives though (hence the four and not the five stars): - you can't pay with card, which in Corona times isn't great and I really think that in 2020 you should be able to pay with card everywhere - no vegetables with the dishes, but you can order an extra salad (but this makes it almost too expensive for what it is) So amazing food, great service but vegetable lovers won't be satisfied nor 'modern' payers like most millennials ;-)

Average hotel with strange personal experience
Reviewed By Frank IThe hotel is located near the lake which gives a really nice view if you book a lake view room. We arrived on Thursday which seemed to be their resting day (wednesday as well apparently). On a billboard outside is mentioned that we needed to phone a certain number which wasn't answered. After a few minutes a lady let us in but before that she needed to pick up our key at a different location so we had to wait for 10 minutes outside the hotel. The room was clean, bathroom newly renovated absolutely no complaints about that. However due to the closure day, the restaurant and bar were not open in the evening so we couldn't enjoy the nice view of our hotel during a drink or dinner which was very unfortunate. Breakfast was ok, however we needed to pay the full price of the room even though some facilities were not available

Lovely hotel with excellent views
Reviewed By Ken MWe stayed in the Hotel Sommerburg while walking in the Black Forest. Room was new, spacious and airy with a large balcony and excellent views of the area. Service was good and efficient with manageress being very friendly and helpful.

Reviewed By Peanuts109The Drostenhaus is a tastefully renovated old mansion built on the foundations of a medieval castle on a peninsula on the Haussee. There is direct access to the lake which is ideal for swimmers and watersports enthusiasts. The rooms and apartments are comfortable and well equipped. The Tenners are very welcoming hosts and do a superb breakfast buffet. An ideal location for a really refreshing holiday.

Decent But Maybe Not Best Value
Reviewed By Mark VWhen you look to stay throughout Germany in small guest houses, one thing travelers look for is a good price. Based on the size of our room, the smoky smell that lingered due to the owners smoking and that basic breakfast, I wouldn't chalk this up as one of the best guest house options. It wasn't bad, it just maybe wasn't worth the price. The area of Feldberg is beautiful and if you were left with no other options, this is certainly a good place to overnight. This guest house is definitely off the beaten path, but also not hard to find if you have a GPS.

Reviewed By C5520WY_התארחנו 2 משפחות עם ילדים. הדירה מרווחת ומאובזרת מצויין. היתה בעיה עם ריח של מקום סגור בלילה הראשון אך לאחר יום ואוורור הריח נעלם. בעלת הבית היתה נחמדה וכל מה שביקשנו קיבלנו בלי שאלות או בעיות מיוחדות. יתכן ונחזור בעתיד!
