The best available Bed and Breakfast Inns to stay near Dublin

You've probably heard that Guinness tastes better in Dublin (fresh from the factory), but what you may not know is that Dublin is a perfect destination for the whole family. No, we're not suggesting you let the kiddies drink a pint. Instead, take them to the Dublin Zoo, to feed the ducks in Stephen's Green or on a picnic in Phoenix Park. Scholars enjoy walking in the literary footsteps of such writers as Yeats and Joyce, while discerning shoppers have their pick of designer boutiques.

Classy Hotel, Excellent Staff, Nice Room Fit Out

Reviewed By Steve5839

A very nice hotel indeed in the Georgian part of town, Its quite quirky inside and dressed accordingly. The staff were great from checking in to checking and out and when I was leaving, I was working down stairs in the lobby and needed the WiFi, the guys servicing the cooling units delayed switching off the WiFi until I had finished - thank you and this coupled with the free cup of coffee was most welcome. The rooms quite elegantly fitted out and the shower excellent and even lots of milk for the coffee. WiFi was a reasonable speed 8 Mbs So after all the good things - no lift, and the breakfast items I had were a little overcooked / dry. Would I stay here again most certainly and probably will next time I am in town

Parking

The management at Egans have, despite objections from local residents, sent their guests to park outside peoples homes. It is most unfair to have tourists/guests leave their cars parked outside ones home restricting access. This practice is not welcome in the area.

The Samuel Hotel

För dyrt i förhållande till den service man får (eller inte får)

Reviewed By N L

The neighbourhood is of prestige town houses and embassies; the air coach (or local bus) to the airport is very close. Baggot Street has cafes, restaurants and bars - 5 minute walk. City Centre - 15-20 minute walk or by bus. The guest house itself is in a renovated grand terrace house and stylishly done. Stairs to the front door are many and not too steep. Inside, the stairs are again gentle but many to the upper floors. There is no dining, no breakfast but rooms have kettles, coffee machines and the usual pods. OK so far. The room we were in was at the top- whew, hard work with cases. Spacious enough but clearly designed for the business person staying a day or two. This is not for the week long stay. Limited hanging and storage space and the bathroom, as ever carved out of the room, has no shelves for toiletries. Functional but cleverly done. No complaints as long as you realise this is for the short stay. All comms ae are arms length until we realised the guy at the table in the morning was the owner/mamger. Very friendly and helpful. Final niggle - mea culpa, we left a charger plugged in when we left. We contacted the Pembroke Hall. Zero response days later..... Hmmm. Very disappointing.

Really, REALLY glad I booked Kilronan

Sometimes you just feel like you hit the B&B jackpot and that's the feeling Romy and Gabriel gave me throughout our two night stay. From the minute I walked in the door until the moment I left, I was pinching myself. Romy's greeting was so warm and friendly, my room was spotlessly clean and I would cheerfully have purchased a ten pound bag of the homemade granola served at breakfast if it was for sale and I wasn't flying home on Ryanair. Gabriel lit a lovely fire in the sitting room in the evening and surprised us with delicious, complimentary Irish coffees! Hospitality doesn't get much better. Thank you very much Romy and Gabriel for making our stay at Kilronan House such a pleasure. Kathy

Good cooked breakfast(payable) or there is an ok spread of cold continental breakfast. Offers decaf herbal tea. Room is fine by European standards. If you r American you might find it a bit tired looking and small. And its not the power shower Americans are used to. Bed , sheets, pillows all comfortable. Couldnt hear noise from other residents at all, unlike modern hotels. No elevator and we were on the 4th floor. Close to plenty of restaurants , supermarket, etc as location is more important and walking distance into town(if you r generally a good walker)

We had a great stay and it was clever to be sent the front entrance codes and hotel rooms so you don't have to carry round a key/key card. And only about a 20-min walk to the city centre with some nice pubs and restaurants nearby. One minor criticism is that we didn't see any staff when we were there but thankfully we didn't need them during our stay.

Disappointing

Reviewed By ThomasAbendroth

We booked for a prolonged weekend and paid some serious money. Our room did only remotely resemble any of the pictures and by no means was a three star accommodation. We hoped for a cute oldish hotel but just got a dated mediocre styled hotel room. Firstly a lot of the furniture was IKEA, the window had a big crack, the staff was rather unmotivated and changed every couple of hours (seriously I did not see a single person for a second time). Everything felt dated and as said for me there was no value for money. Bathroom tiny with cold is water not even well laid out (where in the shower do you put your shower gel?). Next we arrived only one pair of towels in the room and was not solved after asking. Btw. Those stairs are death traps… fully covered in thick carpet. Sorry but next time will be a different hotel. Good stuff: if you get it for cheap decent location well sized room, decent Chinese and breakfast restaurants around.

Great value in the heart of Georgian Dublin

Reviewed By beachcomber_ireland

If you enjoy Georgian architecture stay here! Everywhere beautiful towhouses! It's a short walk to Merrion Square, Kildare Street and other parts of historic Dublin. The price was surprisingly low: about 65 euro for central Dublin. The room was HUGE with high ceiling and large window looking out onto the street. You could pretend you were well to do living in eighteenth century Dublin. They don't do breakfast at the moment due to Covid as their dining room is small. There is a café which opens very early literally over the road or you can go to their sister hotel around the corner in Bagott Street. Super modern shower, free shampoo and body wash, lots of fluffy white towels. Kettle and tea - only instant coffee but some decaff thoughtfully added. Big bed beautifully tucked in. I slept fine even with the inevitable sirens and early morning bin collections of tge city centre. Wifi password given to you on check in. Worked seamlessly. I think this is very good value just be prepared to get your own breakfast and don't travel by car. Highly recommended.
