Hi A great welcome when we arrived for our short stop over recently (29/30 May). Our designated self contained room was so very comfortable and we loved the glass fronted porch. The common over the road was ideal for dog walking and being self contained we did not (hopefully) disturb any other guests when taking the dogs for a walk. As for the breakfast, what can I say other than superb! We wish we could have stayed longer, another time then, we look forward to returning.

We're a family of four with 2 boys, we had a wonderful 1 night stay the room was perfect for our needs and the food at the restaurant was incredible. Steak and Ale pie is a must have. All the staff are super friendly and the service is great. The place itself is an old 17th century building so has lots of charm and character. Play area outside aswell for the kids who made friends instantly. We would definitely stay here again.

To be honest, upon arrival at the Pub and looking at the external facade, my wife and I looked at each other and both silently thought omg we've made a mistake! How wrong we were! From walking in through the front door to departing 3 days later we were made to feel part of a local family. The accommodation was more than adequate with the bonus of full Sky TV and super fast broadband. The breakfast was extremely good and the service was second to none. The pub has a music genre which encorporates all tastes, and the 2 bands we experienced were extremely good. Also when we retired early to our room, there was no hint of sound from 5 MTRS away. Clearly well insulated. The lady who runs front of house during the day is a Consummate Professional and the Landlord was professional and dealt with the only issue we had immediately and with no qualms about the time. All in all a great experience, and one which will be repeated soon hopefully.

Boutique Hotel located between Matlock and Matlock Bath - Under new Management since October 2014 - New restaurant Opened February 2015 'Artist's Corner Restaurant'
Never again will we visit. This is no boutique hotel and to be honest Travel Lodge is better! At least they don't give you decrepid damaged furniture! Food was awful in the restaurant so don't spend your money!! Breakfast was dire, cardboard croissants ...horrendous papercups and coffee out of machine. Bathroom dirty cold ....

A traditional inn , family owned for over thirty years. Located on the edge of the Peak district yet convenient for Manchester, Stockport and Sheffield.
We had a night's stay at the Pack Horse recently and can't wait to visit again. The booking was easy and all communication was quick, efficient and friendly. We had a lovely welcome from the staff, the food (dinner and breakfast) was excellent and well served, the views are stunning and the price was very reasonable. The room itself was so good it has spoiled us for other places to stay. The details such as fresh milk in a flask were very thoughtful.

Absolutely perfect break away in a gorgeous location. We stayed in the Chatsworth suite which was decorated to a very high standard, a combination of traditional yet modern. The shower was hot and powerful, the bed luxuriously comfortable and the added accessories made it cosy and quaint. The hot tub was a real treat, a secret garden perfect for romancing and relaxing. The breakfast was plentiful and cooked to requirement consisting of fresh, locally sourced produce. The hosts were friendly and welcoming and provided excellent customer service. Will definitely be back!

Modern luxury at the White Horse means accommodation that you would normally expect from a 5 star hotel. Superior comfort is provided with bedroom suites that cater for all individual requirements. All of our rooms come with en suite facilities and have secluded balconies that supply exceptional vistas across a lush green valley.
Not fans of typical hotel rooms and experience, we far prefer the route less travelled and this fine boutique hotel suited us perfectly. Mel and David have create a delightful oasis with very fine accommodation, wonderful cuisine and excellent service. The service levels have to be commended given the recruitment challenges facing the hospitality industry at present. Thank you, team!

Just returned from a 4 night stay at explorers retreat, we stayed as a group of 8 (4 adults and 4 kids). We stayed in the promenade rooms, the rooms were very clean and I would definitely recommend the promenade over the higher priced rooms as you have a little courtyard with a ping pong table. However we had a few things that we were not happy about, one been the heating kept going off and we had to go to reception 2 out of the 4 nights to advise the staff about this. Also, the kids couldn’t play ping pong as they had ran out of balls and we were told they’d buy some tomorrow although that never happened. The other issue we had was a few of the staff members, the young girl on the bar upstairs permanently had a face like a wet weekend in Blackpool, no manners either. Another older lady on reception didn’t seem to have a clue what she was doing, we went to buy park tickets from her and she said that we had to buy them at the park. I knew this wasn’t the case so I called the main gullivers helpline and was advised we got them from reception. When we went back to tell her, she had to ask another staff member, after about 10 mins of them trying to work out how to do it, she brought over the card machine along with her mobile phone and accidentally paid, she proceeded to say “oh sh*t”, not very good while our children were stood there and at accommodation that is aimed towards children! Other than that the rest of the staff were friendly, the entertainment team especially were helpful and polite! It would just be nice if management invested in some training and advised ALL their staff that manner cost nothing!!
