We were having a nice stay until one of the owners decided to blindside us and another couple by preaching GB News to us OVER BREAKFAST. She began talking about vaccine deaths and racist diatribe about China. Noone wanted this conversation and when I disagreed with her right wing rhetoric she refused to stop. TOTALLY INAPPROPRIATE. Ruined breakfast and I had to leave before I even ate half.

We used Cirencester as a base for our holiday in Cotswold, and the Old Brewhouse was our best experience in the city. Nice and cosy with a lovely garden and a delicious breakfast. Rosemary and her crew were fantastic. Thank you, we will be happy to come again.

Comfortable and attractive room, good food and nice staff

We had come here after a one night stay in another highly rated establishment where the manager was charmless and not helpful. That place was redeemed by the other staff working there. Becky and Molly who looked after us here were very friendly. The food is very good, the beer is very good and locals seemed friendly. A good experience. Recommended.

Wonderful stay at a lovely BnB

A good friend and I stayed in the twin room. We were pleasantly surprised at the size of the room and shower. It was very clean and beautifully presented with everything. Kathleen has really thought about the little things like a grooming kit, hair wrap as part of the towels, toilitries. Kathleen is a lovely host and very welcoming providing a plentiful continental breakfast in her beautiful breakfast room. Their is also a guest fridge which was very handy for chilling drinks. It was also very peaceful and we couldn't hear other guests in the evening and night so slept very well in very comfortable beds. Definitely recommend.

The Village Pub

Picture the very best-of-British country pub. Fill it with a generous stock of Cotswolds craft ales, crisp West Country ciders and a good few bottles of a sommelier’s most favoured wine stash. Add a menu of delicious food that's soulful, seasonal and cleverly showcases the very best of local produce... Generous, comforting and just made for tucking in. And a good few notches above your usual "pub grub." Pepper with a few shakes of standout community spirit, armchairs that beg for you to fall into them and six rather good-looking bedrooms, bursting with soft hues and all the country comfy touches you could want. You've found our Village Pub, a mere hop, skip and jump across the road from the lovely Barnsley House... And wherever you’re from, you’re one of the locals. So... What are you having?

Probably could have come up with a better name but this is an attractive Cotswold stone pub with a good restaurant. We spent three nights in the first floor Sage room, large room, well furnished, steps up to the bath. Overlooks the Barnsley road but it’s a very quiet village, it wasn’t a problem. The large pub has a good kitchen … the sausage and mash is highly recked. Breakfasts are served at upmarket Barnsley House, a grand old pile about a quarter mile up the road. Excellent menu.

Overpriced, poor quality, Sunday lunch

Reviewed By christinahU9767WM

Sunday lunch vastly over priced comprising two, small, almost inedible, twice cooked roast potatoes, similarly the Yorkshire pudding, one glazed carrot soaked, glazed cabbage soaked in butter and sugar and minuscule, unidentifiable portions of other veg with a couple of slivers of delicious beef. Before writing this review I spoke to the owner of the Bathurst Arms. His response to my observations was to say he was ‘disappointed to hear that’ stating he had taken personal responsibility for cheffing, citing his work experience in Michelin Starred restaurants (one wonders in what capacity!) He claimed other customers had commented it was the best Sunday lunch they had had. He eventually offered me a drink on the house when I next visited. I told him him that I would not be darkening the doors of his business again.

What an amazing experience. Our host Sarah went out of her way to make our experience special. We were particularly impressed that Sarah had gone out of her way to make sure that there were plenty of gluten free options available at breakfast for my wife who Coeliac disease. The house is in a great location and the room was spacious and luxurious. Free parking was a bonus and the house is right in the centre of town with all local amenities in the doorstep. We will definitely be visiting again.
