Just 10 miles east of La Romana lies the fishing town of Bayahibe. Here, divers will find spectacular coral formations and three shipwrecks: the Atlantic Princess, St George and Coco. In the national park, nature enthusiasts will find lagoons and wildlife, including a variety of birds. There is much to do, but the inviting, soft white-sand beaches are perfect for travelers seeking relaxation.

The hotel is just OK but a few MAJOR issues make it a nightmare: : 1) Loud parties on the rooftop that go well into the early morning makes it impossible to sleep. 2) We received a charge of almost $200 on our credit card and we never incurred ANY expenses for the 1 night we were there. The the hotel has been unwilling to provide any details of this erroneous charge and AMEX has also been unsuccessful at resolving this dispute. This is OUTRAGEOUS!!! 3) If you don't speak Spanish, don't expect to be able to communicate with any hotel personnel. We do speak some Spanish and it was still impossible to carry on any conversation or make them understand our concerns.

While in Bayahibe diving with one of my local friends, we stopped by her friend’s Bed and Breakfast, Villa Luna, for a quick bite. Adele was so hospitable even in the midst of a global pandemic. Both Adele and my friend are Italian so we had a great Italian light lunch of pork and fresh baked breads outside by the pool. Adele doesn’t speak English but she was still very engaged with us, even singing a bit of We Are the World. Maybe the next time in Bayahibe, I can even spend a night here. I definitely recommend stopping by B&B Villa Luna and seeing Adele if you’re ever in Bayahibe!!
