Reviewed By makala-mistralWe spent 3 days/night in august 2021 at Outros Tempos. I had read very good reviews and they were no lies: we had a wonderful time in this bed-and-breakfast. The hospitality of our hosts is -very- difficult to beat. We were warmly welcomed the evening we arrived by Amilcar who showed us our room and by his wife who offered us a glass of port wine and cakes. We were pampered every morning with a gorgious breakfast: up to five different home-made cakes (baked early in the morning by our hostess) and more than 10 home-made marmelades were waiting for the guests. The room we had was spacious, with very good commodities in the bath-room and warm, old, cosy furnitures that bring you back at your grans-parents house. A not-to-be-missed place! Reviewed By Tourist762819Letter to Juliet Like many films set in Italy,the roads leading up to the "villa" are beautiful and amongst well tended vines. So with flights booked for Porto when I saw the pictures for Quinta da Barroca though not Italy I was taken. A drive from Porto airport brought us to the vineyards of the Douro and as we later discovered apples,pears,cherries and more. The Apple pickers were in action, so many different types I know where my thoughts will be when I buy Gala apples in Tesco, Waitrose, Check in wasn't easy as no record of our RCI booking was held, but a reassuring Debra and we waited. All was well ,the head office confirmed the booking and we booked in and headed for Pinot Noir. A lovely room with the magical curtain that divided the bed from Bath. The bed is very comfortable, shower very powerful and the temperature good after the first morning. The site boasts, indoor pool opposite Pinot Noir, outdoor pool, tennis court table tennis, table football and pool table set in the beautiful vineyards. Bikes and scooters provided. 4 lovely walks of varying length. We booked for evening meals each evening. A set menu with a choice of a main from two plus vegetarian and presumably you could ask for the children's option. This has been an excellent choice so far with a different course each night that has broadened my food vocabulary, lovely local cuisine never realised broad beans could be so tasty. We paid 10euro for the house wine which is from their own grapes and we're not disappointed, we are not wine buffs. People make the world and here it is just the same. There Were so many smiles and great service from the staff in reception, restaurant( Alex,Frederick and others), breakfast room( lovely eye smiles from the staff ) . I wish I knew the names to mention such great service. The restaurant staff were top adverts for the area with great recommendation for Lamego with it's castle, cathedral and lovely laid back atmosphere. Peso da Régua with it's lovely town,riverside walk and a pedestrian bridge over the Douro. The journey to Pinhao was wonderful, particularly alongside the river Douro,the town and walks along the rivers don't disappoint. I suspect the train journey to Pinhao is even better. I am enjoying the holiday so much, already looking for something similar . So the end of our tranquil stay at Quinta da Barroca, comes to an end, a big thank you to the staff for making our stay happy, thank you for the wonderful facilities,food and sharing your lovely estate.

HOTEL PALACIO NEW Seara is next to the Town Hall, Cx Agricultural, churches, finance, conservatory, law firms, clinical analysis, dentists, hairdressers, bars, cafes, bakeries and trade in general Armamar - Capital of Mountain Apple. Less than 50 meters are restaurants, places that serve traditional Portuguese dishes. It is 10 minutes drive from the waterfront of the Douro and a 21-minute drive from Peso da Regua. For the city of Vila Real 35km and 25km Lamego. It is 14km from the A24 (Node Valdigem). The Porto International Airport is 112km. In addition to exploring the Douro wineries them, and enjoy the rich local cuisine and regional wines, guests can also discover the rich religious heritage of the region. Check in was the nicest I have experienced during all my hotel stays, we were offered wine and food. The rooms are very large, the terrace lovely, the breakfast is abundant and very very good and the hostess is so sweet and caring. Would encourage everybody to stay here for a few days and enjoy the amazing view and hospitality

Reviewed By 81elsdWe stayed for 3 nights in Quinta da Portelo during our trip through Portugal and we litterally loved every minute of it. Our garden suite had its own private and lovely garden. The suite itself is spacious, modern and comfortable. There is a nice pool with a stunning view over the Douro valley. But the most exceptional was the service and friendliness of Ricardo , his mother and his uncle. They did everything they could to make us feel welcome and to make our stay an unforgettable experience. The breakfast is delicious with fresh fruits and juices, the best bread and pastries, eggs prepared as you wish, cheeses and meats... just name it and it was served on the terrace overlooking the vineyards. The location is ideal for visiting and enjoying the do beautiful Douro valley .

Reviewed By luisr_12We spent only one night here and we wish we had stayed a few more days. We liked the experience, the safety (of being in the middle of nowhere), the stars at night, and the estate. Staff was very friendly though the guy who welcomed us was a bit confusing (not an issue but a bit unclear on which pool we could use, where the breakfast take place, etc..). In fact, there was no airco in the room but was not hot during the night. The room was generally comfy and breakfast was excellent. The main pool had a small bar with reasonable prices, we liked that and we didn't expect. The streets to get to the property are a bit tricky so we recommend arrival before dark to avoid getting lost. It's OK to drive at dark just be careful if you have a large car. Needless to say, if you don't have a car, it may be tricky to get around, specially to get to nearby restaurants.

It's located a 3km from the center of ARMAMAR its a lovely and coesy village it as a seasonal outdoor pool, bar, green garden, guests can also enjoy the gym and snoker table free of charge and there's also a restaurant only for our guests. All rooms are fully equiped incluinding LCD and Wi-Fi free of charges as well as free parking

Beautiful Villa with private pool in the heavenly Douro Valley
Reviewed By Judith GQuinta de Silvares is a really lovely villa on a fruit farm in the beautiful Douro Valley. We were there for the first two weeks of September and the weather was fabulous - 26-30 degrees Celsius and not a drop of rain. The whole property is very well equipped, especially the kitchen which includes a dishwasher and a washing machine. Although the villa is not air conditioned, there are fans in each room and the thick stone walls keep the inside relatively cool. The two bedrooms both have double beds and the main bedroom in particular is simply but stylishly furnished. The bed linen was of a very high standard. The bathroom is small but has both a bath and a very efficient shower. The Wi-Fi reception is good. Outside there is a terrace with table, chairs and sun shades with lovely views. Then there is the pool! It ranges from 1 metre to 1.9 metres in depth. I believe it is a salt water pool (so no nasty chemicals) which is cleaned by the owners every 2 or 3 days. Visitors with children need to know that the pool is just out of sight of the villa. There are plenty of sun beds, sun shades and things to keep the children amused e.g. lilos and balls. The view from the pool is stunning. The nearest supermarket is in Armamar which is approximately 10 minutes away by car. It is small but we found it had most of the things we wanted. There is a larger Intermarche about 15 minutes away in the opposite direction in Moimenta da Beira. The owner of the villa is Maria but as she does not speak English your communication is likely to be with her son, Alberto. We found that prior to our trip, any email enquiries were responded to promptly. Maria was there to meet us and despite the difference in languages managed our introductory tour very well! She was very helpful and friendly. Alberto speaks excellent English and was a very good host - never intrusive but we knew he would be on the end of phone if we needed anything. The villa is very well situated for exploring the most beautiful parts of the Douro Valley. Peso da Regua was about 30 minutes away by car and Pinhao about 40 minutes - these are the best places to find boat trips. Lamego, with various attractions including an excellent museum, is also only about 35 minutes away. You are also very well situated for the Varosa Valley Tour which means as long as you have your own transport you can visit five religious sites (monasteries, a convent and a very old church) at a ridiculously low price. We two oldies paid 7 Euros between us for a passport which gave us access to all the sites. They are all fabulous and well supported by exhibitions. The drives to these sites also take you out into lovely countryside. Another highlight was Casa de Mateus which gave its name to the wine which adorned 1970s dinner tables in its curious bulb shaped bottles. Make sure you do the tour of the house - it is fabulous inside and the gardens are interesting too. As I think you will have gathered, we loved Quinta da Silvares and would recommend it without hesitation.

Reviewed By Alexandra MI do not recommend. Rooms confirmed by booking were not available. Instead of a private suite, we were directed to the house's attic, with a messy access... The place has 10 beds, no privacy (no doors) and where there is only one shared bathroom. Bad experience. Rude owner.
