With its grand château and medieval old town peppered with half-timbered buildings and ancient wine cellars, Amboise is the quintessential Loire Valley town. If you need more convincing—this is where Leonardo da Vinci chose to spend his final years.

This place was great! The location was awesome and it really only does take 5 mins to walk to the main area of town where the Chateau and restaurants and bars are located. We checked in around 430 with no issues. I didn’t get the woman’s name that checked us in but she was very friendly and helpful. She did speak English so that was a relief! There were 3 of us so we had an apartment that isn’t attached to the main house. The beds were comfortable and the kitchenette was equipped with dishes, microwave, sink and fridge. Very clean. There is free off street parking also a big bonus, in my opinion. Also a pool that looked nice but we just didn’t have time to enjoy it. We ordered breakfast the first morning and it was a basket of baguette, chocolate and plain croissants, OJ, coffee, butter and assorted jams. It was really good. You just have to let her know the day before if you want to order that. It is not included in the room price. The WiFi worked well the first night but wasn’t great the other two nights but we’ve come to expect that when staying in hotels in the US and abroad so nothing to complain about. I would recommend and will definitely stay here again if I get to visit Amboise in the future.

In the earth of Loire Valley, Real Troglodyte House with heated swimming pool.Beautiful garden, quiet...Near Amboise castle.
Very glad we chose to stay at Le Clos de L'Hermitage for our Loire Valley visit and experienced a unique two nights sleeping in a cave. The rooms are clean and tidy, the owner/host is very nice and helpful with suggestions if you need them.

While reading all the excellent reviews on this property, we feel like we stayed at a different place, altogether. I have never written a bad review, but feel obligated to post our experience. We paid for a "suite" ($160 euros). I hope I am able to post the photos I took -- what we got was definitely not a suite, but two separate upstairs bedrooms (where we had to walk through a messy family room where they were watching TV) separated by a squeaky hallway and a bathroom down the hall. The breakfast was bread, yogurt, a one layer chocolate cake, some cheese and jams and spreads in previously used family sized jars. Sorry to report this. I'll let our photos speak for us if I am able to post.

2 hours from Paris and only 8 minutes from Amboise, come and discover the authentic charm of our former 19th century winegrower's house which offers 4 spacious bedrooms, one of which can be rented as a family suite. We are located in Pocé-sur-Cisse, opposite the castle and its public park. You will peacefully enjoy the garden and its shaded courtyard, relaxation and reading areas reserved for our guests, including a lounge with billiards. You can also venture on many trails on foot or by bike between the Loire, vineyards and hillsides, enjoying a calm and privileged environment. You benefit from an ideal location for your tourist getaways in the heart of the Loire castles, whether cultural, sporting, fun or gourmet. You will be seduced by the wealth of the surrounding tourist heritage that we invite you to discover.
Having read the dreadful reviews for this lovely B & B, I can only think that Marie has now moved on and Patrick & Isobel have truly made this a place worth visiting. We booked the St. Vincent's Closerie as a stop off to break our journey on the way home to the U.K. Patrick & Isabelle are experienced hosts and are friendly and professional. They offer a choice of rooms. Ours was beautifully decorated, with a huge comfortable bed, high end bed linen and lovely pillows. The immaculate bathroom had a really great shower. Breakfast was set in the dining room, with home made jams, fresh orange juice and Patrick was quick to whip up some scrambled eggs for us. We had reached the Closerie quite late the evening before. As a result, Patrick kindly booked us a dinner reservation at a local restaurant, which was a short, delightful walk away through a small park. The whole experience was idyllic and an excellent way to end our stay in France. Thank you Patrick & Isabelle, we can't wait to come back!

Le Manoir de la Maison Blanche has spacious rooms at your disposal, with private bath and toilets, TV, Wi-Fi access in the rooms...Perfect for discovering the Loire, its castles such as Chambord (the largest Loire Valley chateau with the biggest wooded park in Europe), Blois, Chenonceau, Cheverny, Azay le Rideau, as well as the International Garden Festival in Chaumont sur Loire, the Villandry castle gardens and the Langeais fortress. Check-in between 4:30pm and 8pm. Outside of this time you must call in advance or write an email.
We stayed here 2 nights while doing a self guided bike tour of the Loire Valley. The room was cozy and the property very interesting. The host was very nice. The breakfast was a basket of baked goods from a very good bakery. The jams were homemade and delicious. There was no egg, ham, cheese or any kind of protein . There was orange juice. My husband is a type 2 diabetic and needs more than carbs. Her daughter is an endocrinologist so she should have a clue as to what makes a healthy breakfast!

I am honestly shocked that this sweet little perfect bed-and-breakfast does not have more reviews on TripAdvisor. It is such a wonderful place and the hostess is one of the kindest and most interesting people I have ever met! I was recently in Amboise with a friend to see the Loire Valley for the first time. I originally booked into one of the five-star hotels, but then decided I would rather have a more personal experience with one of the locals. It was absolutely the right choice! Alison, the hostess, is the most helpful person I have ever come across. She recommended restaurants, found us a driver to go out to the nearby Châteaux, and patiently answered any and all of our questions. Alison also prepares the most delicious breakfast, and bakes all of the pastries herself! As for the B&B itself, I believe it is an old converted stable, or carriage house. Alison has meticulously redone the entire place and the rooms are absolutely charming. The bed-and-breakfast is right in the middle of town and you can walk everywhere. Don’t let the lack of reviews on TripAdvisor keep you from booking a room at this charming little bed-and-breakfast. If you like B&B’s, then you will surely be thrilled with your choice to stay here.

Bad attention, no toilet paper on the room, there is no one in reception to talk to, they have really bad quality furniture that grinds when you move at night, they where a lot of spiders in the room, they don't speak a word of English, and are rude with tourism, don't go there, they are located between 2 factory's, a lot of noise, they made 3 nights of stay a nightmare.

Our house with B & B in Amboise enjoys an exceptional situation facing the Chateau Gaillard, 600m from Clos Luce and close to the city center and the Royal Castle, in the heart of the Loire Castles. Our former Commanderie des Templiers and its gardens offer you a real haven of peace, while allowing you to go on foot to discover the cultural treasures of the magnificent Amboise.
No doubt about it, due to its convenient location near clos Luce, the quietness of the property, and the friendly and outstanding provided hospitality and information about the many castle, manors, eating places around. And if you are interested in arts or involved with music, you will enjoy it even more as the host is an expert in these. No doubt we'll stop over again.
