Often compared to Venice due to its abundance of canals, Alappuzha is the gateway to the backwaters of Kerala. Rent a houseboat for an up-close view of the palm-lined waterways. In August, the snake-boat race is a remarkable festival—each traditional boat has a crew of over 100 local sailors.

We have 4 rooms with a/c and non a/c facilities. Looks like traditional Kerala cottage with a front open veranda to get a good view of garden and with a top opened bathroom. Only homely food we are serving. Our Location is in a very good Residential Area between town center and lake side Distance from Bus Station and Government ferry 3 kmFrom Railway Station 6 kmTo Lake side 5 min walk (1/2 km)To Main street 1 kmTo Beach 6 km
The word 'resort' for this property is a misnomer. The place is not well maintained and bears no resemblance to the pictures. On reaching the place we saw tall weeds and grasses and for a while felt that the property is abandoned. The room had minimal facilities. The bedsheets were old and smelly and they did not even provide us with a blanket. There was no mirror in the room or the bathroom. There is no facility of a geyser either. Also the charging sockets are old and most of them do not work. The room was full of cockroaches and cobwebs and also thanks to the unkempt lawns there are lots of mosquitoes. I would not recommend this place to anyone and given the price they charge it is definitely not worth. However the hosts are friendly and offered tips to travel around.

This idyllic lakeside home stay is located a short distance from the tourist town of Alleppey/Alappuzha in Kerala. A quiet, relaxed, clean and mosquito-free accommodation has 4 rooms with ensuite bathroom, both AC and non-AC, but all with fans. A local or continental breakfast is included with home cooked meals optional, including local fish delicacies. Pick ups and transport can be arranged.
Lovedale is really a nice place for homestay along with the family. Food was too good and hospitality was really appreciable. Thanks for making our family trip from Erode, Tamilnadu into a memorable one. Good lake view, nice rooms, good arrangements for boat trip to island, tasty food.

I had a great stay at Johnson's homestay and even better on his eco houseboat. Everyone going to Alleppey - go to Johnson's. The Best place in Alleppey for young travellers, but especially for houseboat.

Burrowed between the rich greens is ‘Ayana’s Homestay’ where guests are encouraged to indulge in local, real life experiences with the community at large as they stay with the Nair family. Local, home cooked food plays an important part of the cultural experience as it becomes a window to how a family gathers and sustains from day to day.
Had booked this homestay for 2 nights considering the reviews & pictures on Google, but our experience was not at all good & definitely not as expected because of the unexpected behavior of the host. Mr. Vinit Nair who handled our booking was not present at the property, but his father Mr. Venugopal was managing the property & the guests. He behaved very friendly in the beginning welcoming us but we felt something was off here. He never gave us our space & interfered in everything that we did which made us feel very awkward & controlled. Our booking mentioned room on a higher floor facing the backwaters, but the room was facing a muddy land & there are no rooms on the top floor. He offered to arrange for lunch which was too over priced. He sat besides us the whole time while we ate which made us feel very very awkward. He arranged for a boat ride which took us around the backwaters of Alleppey & a few sightseeing places (church & the broken statue of buddha) but charged us 2000/- for it which in my opinion was way too overpriced & surely not worth. My wife & me decided to have dinner at a restaurant & wanted to explore the place in & around Alleppey, but he had already arranged for dinner without even checking with us as he knew we would not be able to gain access to the city without his boat. This made us feel very unsafe & trapped. At night, suddenly the mains of the AC was switched off & there was frequent power cuts. We knew that the mains were controlled by the owner himself. Location - Access to this property is only by boat which only the property owner can arrange. Nothing was organized properly, neither the home, nor the system & in our opinion the owner should not run this as a homestay.

Welcome to Breeze Homes… A Backwater Retreat. At Breeze Homes we welcome you to experience Traditional Kerala Architecture with pure fragrance of tradition. Situated amidst scenic Backwater Landscapes, guests can relax and be on in one with nature. Experience traditional wooden ceilings, wonders of yoga and Ayurvedic massage and scent of the real Kerala.
We chose this place because of the excellent reviews we had read and you can rest assured that they all do this place justice. We wanted to stay somewhere in the backwaters that wasn't as crowded and commercial as Alleppey and this place was just perfect. We arrived late by train from Varkala to the local station and were met by Ajeesh who is a fabulous host. The cottage we had was well appointed and immaculately clean. We took a 3 hour trip the following day around the backwaters in the small punted boat which was awesome and the boatman was very knowledgeable about the local area and its wildlife. Ajeesh was so helpful and friendly and his cooking was excellent. I highly recommend this place as a quiet backwater retreat and would definitely stay there again.
