Reviewed By Mels BWe stayed at hotel Galini Mare located in Agia Galini for 3 nights, and we have had a wonderful stay! The owners, Harris and Elena, know exactly what Hospitality means: Their personal touch can be found in the smallest details, such as the selfmade preserves for breakfast, and the amazing prepared cherries from Elena which we put through our greek yoghurt. On top of that, they both gave us a true welcoming feeling from the start, where it soon felt like we were talking to acquaintances. We booked a sea view room with balcony, which I can highly recommend. Every morning waking up with a view as can be seen in the picture give us the holiday feeling we were looking for. That, combined with a nice bed with additional topper on the mattress, a well working AC, and a coffee machine on the room made our stay perfect! Can you imagine opening the curtains in the morning watching the sea with a fresh made cup of coffee?.. it’s the best! Good tip for future guests: if you need anything, e.g. an extra pillow, a cattle on the room or advice about what to do in the area, just ask. You will be amazed how well both Harris and Elena will be able to help you fulfill your needs. We will definitely return to this hotel! Thanks Harris and Elena for the wonderful stay!

Reviewed By RJMLynchMy friend and I booked Elena Rooms at the last minute, our flight having been put back two days at short notice. On arrival we were given a friendly welcome and shown our room, which was very clean, stocked with essentials to make hot drinks, fridge, quite a good kitchenette with a three-spot hob (and a mini oven, I think? Didn't use it), a TV which we also didn't use, but both there there if you want them, wifi, and had a lovely terrace, bright, but shaded by some well-kept shrubs. It was a little small, compared to the apartment we'd just vacated, but perfectly good for a holiday, and was exactly as described, i.e. 'room' and not 'apartment'. There is a very good, panoramic view of the hills to the rear, though you would need to sit outside to enjoy it. The price was excellent. Initially I'd booked this as an 'emergency' measure but we were both very impressed (and my friend tends to say what she thinks!).

The lodgings enjoy panoramic sea view from a private balcony or terrace. They are equipped with air conditioning and some with a functioning fire place. The decor is based on the modern Cretan life with wooden furniture, ceilings and/or floors. They are very spacious and have a kitchenette, private bathroom with a shower, bath or a Jacuzzi. Pool with bar and a restaurant serving home cooked specialties.
A good place that has gone bad, VERY VERY BAD!
Reviewed By tomersiFirst of all, NEVER pay until you see, and check out the room We have stayed in this place several times in the last few years Unfortunately, the place has turned from one of the best places that were in the area, to a very bad place. We stayed at the place for almost a month. The maintenance of the place, is poor, broken chairs, torn sun beds, inactive sun umbrellas, the place is not as clean as it used to be. Our apartment had a musty smell that did not go away, the closet in the shower crumbled (probably from moisture) there was no strong water flow and there was almost no hot water in the morning. The kitchen did not have any kitchen utensils and we had to ask for basic things and buy some. The refrigerator door got stuck in the floor and we had to put a stone under the refrigerator to balance it. There was an inactive hot tub on the balcony, which took up half a balcony space and we received a different answer from each hotel representative regarding its operation. The hosts have their own pace, slow and not serviceable. The poor excuse for all our questions and requests was "Corona" which did not really work out with the problems we presented ... The place does not appear to have a manager present. There are so many good places in Plakias, it's a waste of time, money and aggravation. Stay Away.

Great location but mediocrity of service

The hotel was unsatisfactory: the bathroom was smelly, the bed matrix was rather uncomfortable and the kitchen had less than the basic. The breakfast was also unsatisfactory since the raw materials were of medium quality. The personnel was helpful though.
