Bed and Breakfast Palazzo Giovanni

Immersed in the perfumed lemon gardens which are typical of Acireale coast, Giovanni Palace B&B has been recently renovated in full obedience of the original style of early twentieth-century building, with all the amenities and comforts of a prestigious hotel. Art-Nouveau-decorated floors, fresco ceilings, original period furniture and paintings made by grandma represent the manners of a noble Etnean family, "Leotta Dilettoso Vagliasindi del Castello", whose Silvio, the manager of the B&B, is the youngest descendant. You can admire the wonderful view of Etna Volcano and lose your gaze above the horizon on Ionian Sea.

Wonderful weekend break

Reviewed By tritone1960

With the vista of Mount Etna in the background, Palazzo Giovanni is situated in a quiet street. Parking is available across the road in a large lemon grove and is a great place to stay. Within walking distance of the boat harbour of Stazzo and a short drive from the beautiful town of Acireale, our host Silvio made our weekend there a memorable one. He was very helpful in suggesting itineraries and places to see and eat. The room allocated was large, airy and clean, opening up onto a patio inhabited by kittens and tortoises. Would love to go there again.

Stunning outlook

Reviewed By TorquaySue

This hotel has a strange set up. We were unable to check in before 4pm and really just wanted to drop off our luggage but the owner said it was not possible. He was actually quite unhelpful as he didn't live near the premises. When we checked in eventually the receptionist directed us to our rooms and after a short time we heard a live band practicing for what turned out to be a wedding reception. Our rooms were above the open terrace where the party was to take place. Not once did the receptionist have the courtesy to tell us that this was going to take place, and one of our friends was fluent in Italian so there was no language barrier. The party went on until 2am and was extremely loud. Breakfast was served at 9.30 which we thought was too late,so didn't have breakfast but there was nowhere at all to get a coffee or tea in the hotel. No kettle in the room to make a hot drink. What this hotel did offer though was a very spacious room with stunning views of the sea on one side and Etna to the other side with a beautiful terrace. It really was quite scruffy in parts and has so much potential to be a much more attractive hotel. Parking was closeby and some good restaurants nearby.

Hotel Capomulini Historical House

Historical House According to historian Diodorus Sicilian originally was built by the Greeks in VII BC and used as a spa fed by sulphurous waters from the Etna volcano. Later, the Romans turned it first into Mill and then in Tannery. And it is this building used as a mill that gave birth to the streets of the Mills which continued until the slopes of Etna, and gave his name to the picturesque village of Capomulini. Now after a careful renovation was born the Hotel Capomulini. Located in the Bay of Capomulini small fraction of Acireale, a town rich in art with its 100 bell towers of strict baroque style and also known for the most beautiful carnival of Sicily, offers the opportunity to choose, in all periods of the year , moments of refinement, where the stacks of Acitrezza Homeric and lush Timpa of Acireale are the frame. The Hotel Capomulini has 12 rooms spread in two floors of the main building, 7 rooms on the first floor and 5 lofts on the second floor. A short distance from the main building, the hotel has 6 other rooms: 4 bedrooms and 2 apartments overlooking the beautiful seafront Capomulini. All rooms are exquisitely furnished and equipped with all the amenities: air conditioning, tv TV, mini bar, hairdryer, telephone, free wifi. Spacious and comfortable, hark back to the style of the historic building, vaulted, stone walls, ceilings with wooden beams, rustic furniture and warm colors in typical local style. On the cliff the waterfront during the summer season begins with a sun that day is equipped with deck chairs and umbrellas and the evening turns into a charming and romantic piano bar to spend unforgettable and romantic musical evenings with spectacular views of the sea and the stars. The hotel is equipped with a multi-purpose conference room for meetings, with the audience or meeting table, equipped with modern multimedia and internet connection. You can set up the buffet and coffee- break. Take advantage of the opportunity to explore the wonderful coastline with caves, thanks to sailing trips organized by the hotel, or join a fascinating guided tour of Mount Etna.

Avoid ground floor unless you are into sewage

Reviewed By 280_Nights_In_Hotels

We stayed here for one night on our trip to Sicily. The main hotel building is not bad with a rustic feel rooms (we had a chance to see two different rooms). These are simple but clean with aircon. Unfortunately, that is not the room we went for. Instead, we went for the sea view annex building and ended up with a ground floor room – big mistake. It is smaller with access to the room from the road – just like a house door. But, the biggest problem was in the morning - we ended up with the sewage water coming out of the shower cubical! Everything stank!!!! After having to convince the staff at the reception there was a problem they gave us a different room – in the main building – to clean ourselves up. There was a forced apology but not much else to help us or compensate for this nightmare. This is also how we know the rooms in the main building are better and bigger. Breakfast itself is typical Italian, cakes and coffee but, it seems that it was put together by someone that has read about breakfast but never seen it in real life. The placement of everything was not very logical, one would expect to have tea bags near boiling water – nope. It is not a bad hotel – it just seems as if the staff did not really care that much. Would I stay here again, if it was cheap enough and not on ground floor then yes.

The location of this B & B is excellent for Carnevale and the centre of town. The room was very clean as were the bedding and towels. We booked a room with a private bathroom, thinking that the two would be attached, but we had to cross a public corridor to use our private bathroom - not quite what we were expecting. The breakfast was adequate.
