This ski resort on the western edge of the Dolomite Mountains has a reputation for being family-oriented, and there’s truth in that. There are classes for kids, and a couple of runs designed for those still wobbly on skis. The majority of the 19 slopes down the Doss del Sabion are for beginning or intermediate skiers, but there are a couple of more difficult runs. Adventure-seekers can also grab a seat on the Pinzolo-Campiglio Express gondola, which whisks you to the nearby resort of Madonna di Campiglio, where there are some off-piste areas.

I cannot speak to highly of this hotel. The staff were friendly and so helpful. We were driven in the hotels minibus to and from the slopes each morning. We never needed to wait for this service. The hotel was spotless and the rooms serviced everyday. We used the indoor pool, jacuzzi and outdoor jacuzzi which had to be booked due to covid. We used these facilities at four o’clock when it was not busy and three of us had it to ourselves. Food was excellent. We ordered our breakfast items in advance except for cooked breakfast that you ordered each morning. At breakfast we ordered our evening meal choices. Choices were varied and all meals were beautifully presented. We certainly did not go hungry. Cakes, fresh fruit salad and strudel were available from 4-5pm. We had a family room which was spacious and had a corner seating area and jacuzzi bath. There was plenty of storage space. We absolutely loved this hotel and if we return to this area would certainly be rebooking. Thank you to all the wonderful staff.

Rooms at Carlo Magno are spacious and feature satellite TV and a minibar. Some have balconies with a view of the Dolomites. Children are well cared for with a playroom, kids club, and separate pool with water slide. Adults can enjoy the spa center, which includes a gym, jacuzzi, and saunas. The Carlo Magno Hotel includes ski, bike rental, a ski school, and even an astronomical observatory.
We go to the Campiglio ski resort each year and this is the second time we have stayed here, because we love the and the flexibility offered by ski-in / ski-out as it means more time on the slopes, no fighting to get parked and no long trudges up the mountain each day. They also have a ski shop in the basement which means you can get any rentals you might need without leaving the hotel. The quality of accommodation and friendliness of staff remained very high, just as we remembered, but one thing that has improved head and shoulders beyond the last time is the quality of the food. I’ve stayed in several hotels in the area and the food is typically OK. That’s all. It usually doesn’t matter because you’re active all day and just want to eat. But not here – we found ourselves getting really excited about the menu for that day. The selection was amazing, really high quality and absolutely delicious, and the staff loved helping us to understand what was on the menu, even when struggling with the language barrier. There is no doubt that this is an extremely challenging time for hotels, but that never came across and all staff were brilliant. In particular I would like to call out Andrea on the front desk who very patiently helped us arrange return Covid tests and several other issues that were well beyond his remit, and Giovanni in the bar who took the time to prepare several wonderful masterpiece cocktails and present them to us each time like a formal unveiling! We’ll definitely be back next year!

This might seem like a bit of a rant but bear with me. We originally booked the hotel partly on previous Tripadvisor reviews, and also that it was one of few hotels open in Pinzolo in low season. We arrived mid-afternoon and the reception area was in darkness, a theme repeated most days we were there. Despite there being only 3 other rooms occupied at our time of arrival, we were told that our room wasn't ready, and could we wait in the bar for a short while, which we did. After about 10 minutes we were given the key to our room on the second floor. We were not greeted with any politeness, in fact we got the impression that it was too much trouble to deal with us. There was non of the usual information regarding the breakfast times, and where we were to go etc. Nobody asked if we needed any help with our luggage, in fact I even had to ask where the lift was. The ceiling light in the corridor above our room door had failed making it difficult to see where the key fitted in the door lock. This was not sorted during our stay. The room was average size with two single beds pushed together, the mattresses were quite hard. There were sheets and a blanket, but no duvet. There was a decent sized Bathroom and shower, a small desk, with an overhead tv. There was a room heater close to the entrance but a notice said that the temperature was controlled by the hotel, who set it to the 'correct' temperature, whatever that was! We were cold on our first night and had to use the extra blankets in the wardrobe as the heating had been switched off. There was a balcony with a great view of the mountains, and a solitary deck-chair, perhaps we were meant to share it! Adjacent balconies were similar. Next day we went down for breakfast around 45 minutes before the end. We were the only ones there and the staff had started to clear things away, this appeared to happen most days. There was plenty of Dolce, but nothing savory, no fresh fruit apart from apples, nor yoghurt. Were asked if we wanted a coffee as the coffee machine had been switched off. We were offered an omlette, and I had to ask if I could have a yoghurt. Breakfast second day - the waiter was cleaning the juice machine, ready to put it away, ditto with the youhurt 'machine', which had gone back to the kitchen. Was not offered any coffee, so had to ask. We were offered some ham and cheese, but nothing else. On returning back to our room after a day out, at around 15:45, we found it hadn't been serviced. Breakfast on third day equally bizzare, not offered anything savory, but yoghurt 'machine' still working - hooray! Returning late afternoon after a 14km hike and in need of a shower, we found no towels had been left in our room. Went down to reception but nobody there. Rang the bell on the desk and waited, and waited... The owner, and old gent who was talking to someone in the bar had seen me, but chose to ignore me. Evenyually after waiting 10-15 minutes I caught his attention and he just said 'momento'. After a further 5 minutes someone appeared and I said we had no towels, he said he'd sort it. It was starting to get like Fawlty Towers! another 5 minutes passed and a lady knocked on our room door and asked what the problem was. You get the picture...... Later that evening a party of twenty or so children arrived, oh joy!. The shouting and running up and down the corridors lasted until around 10:30, only to be broken by when they went down for evening dinner. Their teachers knocked loudly on all their bedroom doors around 06:45 the next day, when the noise started up again. We allowed them all to leave the breakfast room before we ventured down ourselves, but the staff were already packing the breakfast things away, and continued to do so whilst we were having ours, despite there being 45 minutes or so to go before the 'service' ended. The next day was a repeat of the previous, children running about and generally being noisy, and dis-interested waiting staff at breakfast. On our final day, we went down for breakfast rather earlier, and found some other guests in the breakfast room, and low and behold, the juice, coffee and youhurt machines were still available. We returned to our room to pack, and shortly before check-out our room door started to open, we thought it would be the cleaners asking if we were ready to check out, but no, a woman and a chap just strolled in, and walked over to the balcony and had a short discussion, then left again without speaking. There was no knock on the door, no asking if it was ok to come in, all in all extremely rude. So, in conclusion, although it was out of season, we were still paying guests, and would be expected to be treated as so. The hotel itself is beautifully furnished, and the views accross to the mountains are stunning, but the staff badly let it down.

Fabulous hotel and spa set in the centre of Pinzolo. Easy walk to all the villages amenities. A bonus was the use of the on-demand ski bus to the cable car station, so no walking in ski boots. Ski and boot drying room was useful and practical and we located. The food and service in the restaurant was 5 star, the staff couldn't do enough ta made us feel special. The set menu for dinner was delicious, 4 courses with local and seasonal dishes that never felt too heavy. When combined with the recommended local wines, the meal times were a real event to look forward to each evening. The pool and spa area is modern and very clean too and Covid measures were followed to make us feel safe. In summary, classy but not too formal. Rooms to a high standard (we had a very generous sized suite with a terrace). Great views too. Thank you to the staff for making it a memorable trip.

Food is Italy in cradle :) we were in March 2015 skiing. From the hotel we were quite close to the cable car and from there you could easily get to Madonna di Campilio.

Myself and my wife stayed here for a weeks skiing at the beginning of March. The hotel is family run and from the minute we arrived to the time we left the service was exceptional. The family are so helpful and friendly and I believe absolutely nothing would have been too much trouble if we asked. The food in the hotel is excellent. We were half board and ate in the hotel every night except one. The course choices were good and every meal was very well presented and very tasty. The hotel itself is a great location. The hotel is a traditional alpine style hotel. The rooms were extremely clean and spacious enough. Bed was extremely comfy and made me think I need a new mattress at home. On the last full day my wife took unwell due to a skiing injury the day before and had to go to the hospital. The hotel went above and beyond to be helpful with little things from phoning the doctor for us and keeping food for us beyond the meal times, phoning us later on to see we were alright and providing food on a tray to take to my wife as she was unable to eat downstairs in the restaurant. We cannot thank the hotel and the staff enough for the fantastic stay we had and we would definitely recommend for anyone to stay here and we will be back.

Very basic hotel, the room didn't had air conditioner and the "double bed" was two single beds joined together. The breakfast was lame, included some dry bread, jams and pretty much that's it, we got some tomatoes only because we asked. The most annoying thing is that the hotel managed by a family of thieths. We called to the hotel to make the booking and they asked for much higher price than the price on booking, so we made the reservation on booking with booking price. when we arrived to the hotel the lady at the reception asked if we called earlier to make the reservation by phone, we said we did and then the lady understood that we know she asked for a ridiculous price and said it was obviously a mistake. We stayed there for one night only because it was last minute reservation and all the other hotels were full. STAY AWAY.
