So much history and great views on this tour. The Gallarus Oratory was one of my favorite stops, but you can also pet a baby lamb and see a filming site from Star Wars Episode VII, Basically something for everyone. Comfortable, warm van and you can leave the driving to Colm and enjoy the views. Even great in the rain!

Meeting point for this 2-hour guided walk in Killarney National Park is opposite St. Marys Cathedral which dates from 1842. Cross the road entering the National Park by the lovely thatched cottage and walk up the hill to Knockreer House, and Dairy Cottage where President Charles De Gaulle of France spent nearly two weeks in June 1969. Just after this a great vista of the lake, and mountains opens where you are likely to see some of our native red deer grazing in the fields. Your guide knows all the best places off the beaten path as he was born just a short distance away, and you should enjoy the company of Rua the friendly red setter.

We went with a group of secondary school students to climb Corrán Tuathail with Risteard and his colleagues this May. As we set off we were given local information on the glacial features around us as well as old stories along the walk. Both Risteard and his colleagues made plenty stops for us as we made our way to the top. The highlight for us was that they spoke as Gaeilge which was important as our school is in the Gaeltacht. Hence, this guided walk has the added bonus for anyone with the cúpla focal. I would highly recommend Risteard to guide you on a walk of Kerry’s mountains, and we will be back again in the future. Míle buíochas daoibh don lá iontach a chaitheamar i gCiarraí. Bhaineamar go léir an-sult as agus beimid ar ais arís!

3. 8-Day Dingle Peninsula Guided Walk

Ireland Walk Hike Bike

Your Dingle Walking Tour begins in the Slieve Mish mountains once home to a mythological Celtic princess enjoying panoramic views of Tralee Bay before you arrive to the bustling cosmopolitan town of Dingle. Gaily painted houses lead to a busy harbour where artisan cafes and craft shops vie with traditional pubs humming to the sound of Irish music and song. In sharp contrast, the weather-sculpted lands beyond Dingle on the famous Slea Head seem to have regressed in time, isolated by mountain and ocean. This is particularly true of the ancient pilgrim route that winds through stone-clad fields and fuchsia-rich lanes from Ventry Beach to the majestic summit of the holy mountain – Mount Brandon.
