This is supposedly the tomb of a great general but the remains have been relocated to another museum. According to historians, this general was fearless n won many battles together with his loyal horse. The horse was so quick as if it had wings. The statute of the horse has it stepping on a sparrow, signifying its ability to move ss fast as a sparrow.
Today the China tourist industry has adopted this statue as their logo, it is printed on every local tour bus.
Inside the park, there are statutes of the general's army, arranged in some set formation.
Only interesting if you know the story behind the great general.

Had a wonderful visit here, wandering the different temples. A monk let us into one of the temples which is closed off, which was a treat.

The temple has preserved a well defined structure of Confucian learning institutuion and has preserved many monuments of writings of different languages of the minorities in North West China. The courtyard between buildings plants many flowers and fruits trees. The roofing and ceiling reflect the fine achitecture of its time.

One of the coolest things I've seen in a long time, although we almost didn't see them since they are officially closed for some kind of renovation, and it was only through the intervention of our amazing interpreter and the kindness of the workers hanging around that we got to. You might want to check that out before you make the trip.

i should say it really worth a visit. As Wuwei is the entrance of the silk road, it's like a pearl of the Gansu Corridor. Stories about DongxuanZang's great Journey to India to pursue the Buddhism scripture, and tales about the foreign pioneer traders, it's the communication which proceed the history progress.

Nice city gate. That's about all there is in the local vicinity, but other historical attractions are an easy walk. Good for a daytime photo. While it is illuminated at night, not by much, so a night photo would not be that impressive (wall is lit, building on top is not). Nice hotel next to it, the Ziyunge. Nice restaurants in area, though the Korean Seafood no longer exists.

Visited this site in Sept 2016. The Haicang Temple in Wuwei is not so distinguish and well known as the other temples in Gansu Province. Across the rod of the Haicang Temple is a Lake Park
