Wonderful spot to experience the Maine forest, moose, clean trails and lovely water opportunities. We had a 2-year old moose walk RIGHT in front of our car! She was curious and just ambling around. Wonderful place to observe nature.

Happened upon the roadside sign directing you to the site and decided to check it out. It is a small well-done park with a monument to the people that accomplished this feat. There is plenty of parking and it is a nice drive off the main road. There really isn’t that much to see but it makes a nice break if you are doing the solar system route.

Scale model of the Earth's solar system built by the people of Aroostook County.
starting in Presque Isle they have scale models of the 9 (yes it was made when Pluto was formally a planet) and their major moons arranged along Route 1 at intervals to scale distance. Really brings home how far the planets are from each other with the inner 4 almost right in Presque Isle and the rest all the way to Houlton. Great educational display! Look for tiny Pluto in the glass case at the Houlton rest area and information.
