We recently were in Pocahontas to buy a puppy, but told a few people we were visiting The Kaleidoscope Factory. Soon we had people talking with us about our visit and had we been to the Kaleidoscope Factory yet. It was so nice to be in a town where people are so nice. Back to The Kaleidoscope Factory. First, it’s not a factory in square footage, but seems to be a factory of good will. The owner, Leonard Olson, knew we were stopping by, so was ready to give us a tour. 5 minutes later Leonard sat me down to build my own Kaleidoscope. He had made several egg shaped blanks with his lathe, so many choices of wood. Walnut, Purpleheart, oak and about 40 other types of wood more exotic. Leonard showed me how to make the Kaleidoscope with my own choice of color chips and was done in 15 minutes. Leonard is a great teacher and story teller, and if you have to go out of your way to visit Pocahontas and Leonard, you won’t regret it.
