Coast comprised of high cliffs.
This is a magical area of Maine with few tourists. Lovely for painters, writers, hikers and those who enjoy quiet time.

Very inviting, unpretentious place with a great selection of wines, cheeses and craft beers. The owner was super about explaining some of the wines I could serve over the holidays to family and friends who are far more knowledgeable about wine than I am. What I truly appreciated was how he didn't even bat an eyelash or treat me any differently when I mentioned my somewhat limited resources. The owner, Mr. French, told me they have regular tasting events which I hope to attend sometime soon! Located right near the bridge downtown Machias, ample parking.

We were met by Ruth Ahrens, a DAR volunteer, who gave us more than an hour's tour of the museum on a Saturday morning. Not only did she graciously give us her time, but she was highly knowledgeable about the large number of artifacts and furnishings in the museum as well as a highly detailed knowledge of local history and lore. She ably placed local events into the broader context of the American Revolution.

We came to Machias to see the falls and Jasper Beach. What a treat this gem was. You have to go to the gas station to get a great view of the full falls. The walking path that exists as the park is convenient and family friendly.
