Kudat (Malay: Pekan Kudat) is the capital of the Kudat District in the Kudat Division of Sabah, Malaysia. Its population was estimated to be around 29,025 in 2010. It is located 190 kilometres (120 mi) north of Kota Kinabalu, the state capital, and is near the northernmost point of Borneo. It is the largest town in the heartland of the Rungus people which is a sub-ethnic group of the majority Kadazan-Dusun race and is therefore a major centre of Rungus culture. It is also notable for being one of the first parts of Sabah to be settled by Chinese Malaysians, particularly from the Hakka dialect group.

Tropical Research and Conservation Centre (TRACC) operates a marine conservation volunteer project near the Tip of Borneo in Sabah, Malaysia. We teach diving and marine conservation as guests help protect and rebuild reefs, turtles and sharks. We stay in tents and spend days doing marine conservation surveys and restoring coral reefs. This site is our main training site, with shallow waters and low currents. We also have a project for advanced divers on Pom POm island in Semporna, Sabah.

Visited this place for the 2nd time while traveling to Kudat. It seems to be a must-go-to-place if you're ever in Kudat, Sabah. Scenery is as always expected, beautiful sunset as the sun goes down. The sea waves was a little rough, probably due to the Nov-Feb wind from South China Sea, but also a good time for surfers to strut on their surfing board! Would recommend travelers to visit this place in the month of June/July as annually there will be a Sunset Music Fest at the Tip of Borneo takes place in June at the northern most tip of Borneo (check local calendars for confirmation). Cafe's and restaurant has definitely improved a little better during my visit, however would hope that the community there would introduced more coconut flavors to their menu as Kudat is well known for their coconut tree (hence their landmark - which is shaped as a coconut). Accommodation wise, pretty decent. Well priced and comfortable. There's stretch of hotels, chalets, rentals for a night experience. Overall, I'm pretty happy with this place and will definitely come back again! :)

We were surprised at how well managed this place was. Only paid RM3 per person and had a guided tour by Ali for 45 minutes. He is so passionate about what he is doing here to promote and improve the honey production among local farmers. We learnt so much about the different types of bees. The honey sold at the gift shop was fresh and delicious and a fraction of the price you would have to pay elsewhere. Must go especially for families.
