The Shields-Ethridge Heritage Farm is an outdoor, agricultural museum that functions as an educational and interpretative facility in northeast Georgia. It is open From April to October. See website for hours. The Shields-Ethridge Heritage Farm Foundation, Inc. was created in 1994 as a non-profit organization established to preserve the existing buildings on the 152 acres.
This was an unusual place unlike most historic sites which are essentially re-creations of what life was believed to be like. There are no guides. There are no fences. There are no updates and modifications. What you see is what is was like before a whole lot of weathering took its toll through the years. Tools are rusting and the buildings have fallen into disrepair which will eventually leave them earth elements. But, for now, imagination and the historical references posted at each building can bring to the history seeker an appreciation of what it must have been like when this site was bustling with farmer's wagons from all around-people shopping at the general store, wheat and corn brought to be ground and sold, children playing or helping their parents, and old men sitting, smoking, and discussing the weather. Although it was good weather during our visit we were the only people looking. You can just drive up, park on the grass and walk around. There is no charge to browse. Across the street is the original home which is not part of the tour and is currently in full time use by the owner, a Shields-Etheridge descendant. Wear closed shoes and respect the site. There is no restroom, no picnic facility, or other modern amenity.

Enjoy a Light Sport Aircraft Air Experience flight with great views of Lake Lanier and the Georgia Mountains. As part of the flight the Aircraft Controls will be explained and it will be possible for you to optionally control the aircraft in gently turns, climbs and descents. Great for all Ages. See Georgia from as low as 500Ft and as high as 5000ft all in a single flight.

I had been here once before while visiting from NC. I was happy I came back. It is filled with all kind of vintage, homemade and some reproductions as well but a very nice mix. I enjoy browsing these type of shops and this was an enjoyable one. Unfortunately (or fortunately, lol) I didn’t find anything I couldn’t live without. But would recommend it for a nice leisurely afternoon of browsing. It is set up very nicely, no junk and with space to walk. The booth owners obviously love their collections and display them artfully.
