History of Polish seashore defence, good piece of Polish history - big and very interesting museum. Located in 5 objects - needs more time to see that all!

It is beautiful small and narrow island, some 2 and a half hours boat ride from Gdansk. Sandy Beaches, beautiful greenery, small cafes and restaurants, lighthouse, open museums, picturesque little houses with flowers around... Really nice place to visit on a summer day.

This is our favorite wooden pier on the Baltic Sea. It is 320 meters long (built in the 1970s), it is located on Puck Bay (Zatoka Pucka). The admission here is free. We love it here in the spring or in the early summer when there are only few people there. There are beautiful and pictureque seascape views from the end of the pier on sunny and clear days. However, it may be also very cold there even in the summer especially when it is gusty and windy, so be prepared for a cool summer sea breeze.

Twice a day you can look at the seals being trained and their health checked. There is also a lot of information available to the public and the entrance fee is only 5 zloty.

Lighthouse dos not seem to very exciting but it is just the end of a fabulous walk through Hel Promenade. Remember Hel dos not mean a hell (double “l”).
If you visit Hel Peninsula be aware that most interesting tourist activity in Hel is windsurfing in Chałupy or other Hel village. I believe Chałupy is the best windsurfing destination for beginners in Europe. When it comes to advanced surfers it depend on wind. Quite often wind is really strong and perfect for advanced windsurfers.

muzeum, což je velmi zajímavé exponáty. Pro každého, kdo hledá pohlednice z muzea. Jsou zdaleka nejkrásnější. Zvenčí to vypadá působivě. Vnitřek exponátů muzea, a v nich dějiny poloostrova.

Rather interesting place on Hel's see shore, about 5km north from peninsulas tip. You can also reach it easily by using blue Trail (“Along the fortification of Hel”) starting at Railway Station and turning into green trail at the location of Defence Museum (2km+2km).
Be aware that trespassing the dunes in Poland is prohibited!
Lighthouse is a rusted metal 17m construction covered in graffiti, on a 2m concrete foundation. It should not be climbed as this may cause a danger due to unstable, devastated construction. The balcony on top provides excellent view.
Good to know: directly westbound, 500m from shore, 18m under sea surface lays a Nazi U-Boot U- 272 type VIIC submarine, that has sank in 12.09.1942, after colliding with U-634 sub.
Closely you can see concrete remnants of cold war shore fortifications (prefabricated concrete trenches and firing positions) almost completely taken by sands. Get there by successively green, blue and brown trail, as trespassing through dunes is not welcome.
There is another less-known old remnant nearby (1km south): Firing position nr. 2 (so-called Danish due to origins of guns) of polish pre-WWII defence lines (2 small concrete shelters with 2 round firing positions surrounded by earth wall). It was built in 1931 and hosted two 105mm Shneider mk26 artillery pieces (on display in Gdynia). Reach it by using Orange Trail (green or brown to main (blue), and 1,5km south to orange.
